Secondly, taking pictures of vehicles and troops is a common tactic used by insurgents to gather intel before they strike (as even stated in the description).

it does not seem likely that combatants would loiter directly beneath 2 apache gunships with weapons clearly displayed (?)...the assertion that this attack occurred in the midst of a local engagement is obviously false... the presence of an aiming individual would certainly provoke a response...however, that individual seems to have been the only one present who was not fired upon..the comment that "it was their own fault for bringing children to a battle was as inane as it was brutal".

@BlueMoneyBalls The pilots later discuss that the running over of the body might be an illusion, becaus in reality it was probably not run over. Also the unit was in high danger - the insurgents were looking suspicious and had an RPG - I would want to engage as quickly as possible myself.

A video I made had been removed as well. It contained the same footage as "Collateral Murder" except for a close up of the men with the RPG and AK, and previous footage that they left out. Footage of the chopper following the black Van to this location after they dropped off combatants in a nearby combat zone.... Also, American and British air forces were already there prior to 2003, the war from 1991 never ended. The reason we are still there is cos the Iraq govt. wants us there.

@Halbert986 cont...it's not clear if they're referring to someone who's actually shooting small arms, or somebody preparing to shoot an RPG, or the camera guy, or just echoing what the first guy said. In any case, this episode might have involved some error but I didn't sense any overly callous or cavalier attitudes. I think it would have made more sense to disable the van and not shoot everybody in it but I'm sure they never expected kids to be in the van, because that's just crazy.

The put out the full version of the video first. None of the stuff you have listed above justifies what they did. There were no proper positive IDs just wishful thinking.
People were carrying around AK47 because they were at the height of a civil war and practically every househould had rifles. Local neighbours had their own protection forces. There is no reason to think that just because someone had an AK47 they were insurgents.
@kcdl Read the official investigation into the incident, and you will see you are mistaken. US ground forces (Bushmaster ) were taking fire from that location prior to the Apache (Crazyhorse 18) showing up. Innocent civilians also don't walk around with Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers (RPGs).
Also, they put out both at the same time, yet propagated the 17 minute version with deceptive "commentary" and called it "Collateral Murder", how much more blatant do you need it to be?

The helicopter pilots can be heard lying about how many people appeared to be carrying weapons so they have an excuse to shoot (most are clearly unarmed). Footage of the chopper following the black Van to this location after they dropped off combatants in a nearby combat zone.... If you think about what led to their deaths you have to look up the video in which Bush admits that there were no WMDs and they had no ties to 911. Sorry these people should still be alive.

@iambanditami Hate to sully your tart my friend but it's widely known Bush and Blair admitted there were no stockpiles found. And neither ever said Saddam was tied to 9/11. What they DID say was that Iraq had a relationship with Al-qaeda, which has been proven, and they were worried Saddam would give chemical weapons to AQ. Also, American and British air forces were already there prior to 2003, the war from 1991 never ended. The reason we are still there is cos the Iraq govt. wants us there.

I don't know of what U.S. defence report you speak of, the ones I and many others have read never concluded there was no link. Bin Laden loved the publicity and took on the term and then looked as if he had a multi-national organisation even though until then he merely funded anti-US fighting. The term was never used before that.

I wrote a big comment but what it boils down to is that only the full video, uncut, can provide the required context and color. I'm glad you provided this info, but now I'm left wondering if the true video is anywhere or if all we have access to is just a chopped up selection of audio and video made to serve an agenda. The situation isn't as clear as it was 5 minutes ago.

@Halbert986 cont...it's not clear if they're referring to someone who's actually shooting small arms, or somebody preparing to shoot an RPG, or the camera guy, or just echoing what the first guy said. In any case, this episode might have involved some error but I didn't sense any overly callous or cavalier attitudes. I think it would have made more sense to disable the van and not shoot everybody in it but I'm sure they never expected kids to be in the van, because that's just crazy.

@P00P0STER0US i think theres 2 different choppers and the guy around the corner is the one with an rpg... at 1:43 in full video you can see 2 guys in background one with ak47 and one with rpg... then theres the 2 journalists.. one of the guys in chopper later tells the ground patrol he took out the guy with the rpg as he was preparing to fire on their position.. and who crouches and leans around a corner like that? then later ground patrols confirm rpg under one of the bodies

The put out the full version of the video first. None of the stuff you have listed above justifies what they did. There were no proper positive IDs just wishful thinking.
People were carrying around AK47 because they were at the height of a civil war and practically every househould had rifles. Local neighbours had their own protection forces. There is no reason to think that just because someone had an AK47 they were insurgents.

@kcdl Read the official investigation into the incident, and you will see you are mistaken. US ground forces (Bushmaster ) were taking fire from that location prior to the Apache (Crazyhorse 18) showing up. Innocent civilians also don't walk around with Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers (RPGs).
Also, they put out both at the same time, yet propagated the 17 minute version with deceptive "commentary" and called it "Collateral Murder", how much more blatant do you need it to be?

The helicopter pilots can be heard lying about how many people appeared to be carrying weapons so they have an excuse to shoot (most are clearly unarmed). What else do you think they were lying about? They were hiding this footage. How innocent is that?

@kcdl That wasn't from the official investigation, that was one person being quoted, not "they" lied. The pilots weren't lying they mistook the camera bags for an AK sling. Read the official investigation before talking out of your arse. I have it on my blog.
Notice how Wikileaks doesn't include the investigation THEY requested the US defence department release on their collateralmurder website, because it doesn't fit their agenda.
