The guitar part in this song is absolutely beautiful. I've always been a fan of artists who sing the material they write. The emotions are so much more evident. You can literally feel the pain in this song from Bret. The friend he's singing about in the original version was one of Poison's bodyguards named Kiko(sp?). Why can't more music be like this. Rock on Bret, CC, Rikki, and Bobby!!!
Good God. I just discovered this version about 2 months ago. It is BEAUTIFUL. I can't ever listen to the ORIGINAL version without tearing up; this version absolutely gives me goosebumps. It kills me. Does anyone know exactly what inspired Brett to write this? I'm so curious, because it's just stellar in both its delivery and the meaning of the whole thing. Truly awe-inspiring. Way to go, guys. Truly beyond words.
@LizzieSparrow2 I'm not sure about this version, but the original was written about his friend, who was a bouncer i believe, who had died. But im not sure about this version. But i absolutly love this version.
@weers94 Yeah, I heard about his friend that died. :( But this version is just as beautiful---gets me totally choked up listening to it. Thanks for posting it! :)
this was on the B side (it actually was on both sides of the tape) of the single tape 'life goes on'. the back of the package said this was the original version. i still have the cassette... somewhere.
