  • At what point does a firefighter say, "to Hell with this" and just let it burn? A fully engulfed abandoned building hardly seems worth saving. In my opinion anyway.

  • Now that's a hell of a fire!

  • why weren't firefighter evacuating that was a fire way more out of control then in wtc 7

  • State Farm (or somebody) just bought those buildings....

  • Detroit is America's Baghdad

  • thats a great training fire... everyone gets the chance to hold a nozzle on this one...

  • That is one Fucked up city !

  • Does Detroit have very bad staffing or is a 2nd alarm in Detroit larger than other cities? I would think a fire that large would go to at least 3 alarms, if not 4. Not to mention, I don't think I've seen a fire video from Detroit that has more than 2 alarms.

  • vot dalbariki pojarniki,,,dom qorit a oni smotryat....

  • Well once a building is that far gone there's no reason for anyone to do anything risky. Don't get pissed at the FD for not putting it out quick enough for your expectations, get pissed at the idiot who started the blaze.

  • @Mikyz12 they are stretching hose.

  • Hey does anybody know what the busiest engine in detroit is?

  • I like how busy a fire department is gives a good excuse for bad tactics and lack of urgency. These videos give firefighting a bad rep, mostly because it looks like firefighters don't know what to do, or they don't give a shit. A fire should be doused as quickly as possible, if for no other reason, to cut back on the serious air pollution it's causing. You're there, you have the high-dollar equipment in place...might as well put it to use and be done with it.

  • lol only two alarms. Where I'm from it would be about 4 or 5

  • @Cheatman1342 Well its Detroit everything has budget cuts there

  • @MVRTA108 I'm not trying to put down the city. If anything I thinks its bad ass. Nonetheless there is a dangerous aspect if enough crews aren't there. I guess what needs to be considered is how many pieces are assigned to each box in that district and that this is a defensive fire so somewhere around 10 to 20000 gallons a minute would be more than adequate for this particular fire.

  • @Cheatman1342 You ever been to Detroit? lol, this is just another day at the office for those guys

  • @soulsurvivor52784 Ooo I understand that. These guys have my greatest respect. I guess the box they have is obviously different from most other firefighters that view this assuming they are working at a suburban department. :)

  • @Cheatman1342 LOL Just imagine being on a department where you actually say "Dammit ANOTHER fire! that's the third one today"....

  • @Cheatman1342 i was thinking the same dam thing! if it was NY, it would have been like 8

  • One less building for the drug dealers to gather in....

  • @niceparkjob asshole not every one in detroit is a drug dealer

  • @1812thunder1 before you start calling names, read carefully what I said. In no way, shape or form did I say everyone is Detroit is a drug dealer. Now calm down just because your Grandmother lives with you and you have to wipe her ass everyday.

  • Didn't you just love the guy watering the garden at 6.17. I was beginning tio think he was forgetting why he was there and he might accidentally put just a touch of water on the fire.

In more and more of thsse videos it seems the firefighters become mere spectators at glorified bonfires

  • @Norfolkscot If you have never seen or know how this department operates on the fire scene then shut your mouth man, A) your probably not even a firefighter and B) Detroit gets more fires than any other department in the country on a population to size ratio, so why waste your energy on a dump like this when your going from fire to fire all night long?

  • Think how many cockroaches died in that fire !

  • @DammitDrag And rats

  • That looks like a fire that would go to at least a 3rd alarm, rather than just a 2nd alarm. Is Detroit fire really strapped or something??

  • @t80tank20 DEtriot has the most fired anywhere

  • @Jimthere3 redneck comment

  • I also agree that it's a 4 story dumpster, rig placement was great, big fire = big water. No sense in wearing ourselves out due to land owners desire for urban renewal...

  • good job dfd. 4 story dumpster let it burn. no need to kill firefighters. and hoopla ur a tard. the engine operator did a excellent job decided to try and knock down bulk of the fire by using the deck gun then extend ur 2 1/2 line.

  • thats a fully involved apt. fire.

  • ps why would you pull a 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 on that........you might need more water. not a fireman???

  • If you notice, they pull the 1 1/2, and the 2 1/2, Its standard protocol in Detroit to pull both beds on a fire like that. We just recently aquired 4" line to attatch as supply to the water tower.

  • clearly you are not from detroit or are not familiar with the amount of vacant tenaments and other buildings. What are they going to save, a crackheads house. ...turd

  • took them a hell of a long time to get the hoses out and the water going there was absolutly no sence of urgency kinda dissapointing

  • If you wer fighting 4+ fires a night every night... You would be "kinda Dissapointed" to pull up on something as DOUBTFULL as this...

What Exactly Did You Expect them to save?

Hey how about they run in there possibly get hurt or worse! So there can be another dangerous vacant building to add to the 100,000+ that are already in the city! Great idea...

  • what do you propose they should've done. detroit is a well seasoned fire department, these guys earn theirs.
