  • So which should we call it then? athiestmas, capitalistmas, or pagan solstice?

I lean towards the last 2

  • @gocrazy432 Ha! I vote for capitalistmas.

  • @rationalwarrior Good choice. It could be $mas rather than xmas xD

  • I liked this video man. Keep yourself educated. You seem like you got a good head on your shoulders. 5/5

  • U suck ur going to hell!

  • Christians are all crazy. Now if you don't mind I am off to sacrifice a goat and jerk off to the north star to ensure I will be able to screw more brown people out of all their money so I may buy another diamond studded gold plated hummer because MY GOD IS THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD!:)

  • I've tried explaining this to several christians myself, their argument never gets far beyond something like 'but of course it's about christ, otherise why would it be called christmas?'. I've heard this 'argument' for want of a better word so often that peoples stupidity no longer amazes me.

  • In Denmark we call it Jul - or Yule, so yeah - nothing to do with Jebus.

  • Second point: From what I remember from my previous research, there was a very specific reason for Christmas being put on the winter solstice, that reason being that in first few centuries AD, newly-converted Christians often had trouble breaking with their old traditions, resulting in what can be described as yearly heresy. In that light, the Catholic Church declared the celebration of Jesus' birth on that day, to give Christians a slightly less heretical way to celebrate come winter solstice.

  • @theflyingjbird I don't think the reason why it was chosen is the point. The point is that for Christians to get bent out of shape about it as if it was theirs exclusively in the first place shows that sense of entitlement that I was referring to.

  • WHAI YU WERE SUNGLASSES INDOORS???

On a more topic-related note, I think the issue that most Christians have is more along the lines that 'political correctness' insists that we not be able to say "Merry Christmas" as a salutation towards others, and lean towards the more generic "Happy Holidays." The phrase "keep the Christ in Christmas" seems to me just a slogan to get across that point.

Especially since most Christians I know seem to be at least vaguely aware that Christmas has pagan roots.

  • @theflyingjbird To my knowledge there is no law that prevents Christians from saying merry Christmas. As a matter of fact a few of them said it to me today and the cops didn't show up. This is manufactured persecution from a group that is holding all of the important cards in this country. The reason that people say happy holiday is to acknowledge that not everyone celebrates Christmas. So it would be disrespectful to tell a Jewish person merry Christmas

    .

  • I call it GIFTMAS. I make it clear I'm taking christ out.

  • I wish we could take the money out of Xmas but i'm cynical, every dam. year it's the same charade, you either have to give of yourself, or a give a present, or both.

What i resent about any holiday is the timing, i can only give of myself and my resources at particular times, don't use a calendar to put pressure on me.

My love is eternal i would hope so don't try to dictate how and when it's dispensed and i will not expect that from you .

    Merry whatever .....

  • I like your "Grand Unified" logo. I wish I had a damn logo. How come RW gets a logo and I don't get one? You pagan jerk. I hope Jesus forgets all about coming to your house this solstice.

  • @AdamRainStopper Hahaha!

  • Christmas with the Joker!..right before he hoped and the tree and well got away

"crashing through the roof in a one horse open tree busting out I go laughing all the weeee HAHAHAHAHA"

  • I celebrate Christmas because Santa is cool ^__^ I'm an Atheist so I don't care about the cognitive dissonance because I already know it's made up. I like giving and getting stuff from people and seeing family which really is what it's all about. ^__^

  • @MistressArte I'm with you there. It's fun and it makes the family feel good. I just get annoyed when the christians start up with that persecution complex.

  • @rationalwarrior Me too it's like how much more do you want? How many people who are in our government that need to be in the closet Atheist because if people knew it would affect their reelection? It's just total shit, it'd be like Kim Il-sung bitching that he don't quite have enough power in his country. >.>

  • Very good video @rationalwarrior. I've yet to see you make a bad one though, lol.

  • Have a happy Saturnalia rationalwarrior! :-)

  • Agreed!

  • On the 25th I shall celebrate Santa's Birthday how the hell I please!

  • Let's boot Jeebus out of the pagan celebration the christians pinched.

  • I am a believer in Christ. I agree with you totally. I don't actually celebrate Christmas anymore (Easter either), because I wont celebrate the paganism. "Christians" look at me in shock and shun me as a crazy. Maybe we come from different beliefs, but you speak truth here, and I believe at least I stand for something instead of allowing the veil you referred to. Even when the truth is told, its easier to tune it out and reject it than to admit our ignorance and move away from it.

  • @etmhappyfaith I'm glad to hear that you're open to this truth. There are many who are not.

  • Christians stole a lot of things from a lot of religions.

    Christmas ----> from Pagans

Son of God (Jesus/Horus) -----> Egyptians

10 Commandments (it being from God, received it from a mountain in a form of 2 tablets) ------> Ancient greek religions and Zoroaster

Christianity is a fake and plagiarized religion.

  • Well said. Some better day in future Christmas may be renamed back to Solstice or similar.

  • @OccamsView Wouldn't that be great?

  • @rationalwarrior It is called Yule or Yuletide by neo-pagans and wiccans. Happy Yuletide. Cheers.

  • @OccamsView You could go back to calling it yule, that's what we still call it in Scandinavia (jul). That's the pagan name of the holiday.

  • Jeremiah 10 (King James Version)

1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

  • The first European settlers in North America, The Pilgrims, never celebrated christmas and considered it a pagan not a christian day. No where in the Bible are birth days of anybody celebrated and jesus never asked that HIS birthday be celebrated. The celebration of birthdays were a Roman pagan rite. Not a jewish or christian rite.

  • Short but sweet summary of the origins of Christmas. Thanks!

  • @Rationalific Thank you for watching my friend.

  • Dude you looking like blade in that jacket. 8D

  • I just heard my inner voice shout to me "YEAH THE PAGANS WANT THEIR HOLIDAY BACK!" when I noticed the title :p

  • @FHomeBrew Hahaha! Right!

  • The argument of the "Christians stole it from the pagans" implies that Christians of that time we're all for it. The argument also seems to forget that's how traditions and beliefs circulate and change. "Happy Holidays" is more for political correctness, when quite a few people can understand some one saying "Merry Christmas" means "Happy Holidays", but what people tend to not know about "Xmas" is it was not originally an attempt to remove "Christ". My opinion, Seasons Greetings is best. (=

  • I actualy had a coworker claim that Christmas wasn't a religous holiday.

He claimed that because it was ont he federal holiday list, it couldn't be considered religous. O.o

  • @whiteowl1415 Did you facepalm?

  • @fuzzeledwuzzeled

    INternaly..yes.

Externaly I told him I wanted nothing to do with it.

    (Im a history teacher btw)

He commented that I teach the origins of Halloween in class (I address several aspects including feat of all saints and Samhain equaly) and it shouldn't be any different

I said, Trust me, you do NOT want me teaching these kids where your Christmas really comes from. And walked off =)

  • @whiteowl1415 It sounds like you handled that quite professionally.

  • plz adopt me. I wanna live in yer house.

  • Damn you... I was going to make this video. I have no problem with Christmas simply because the Christians already stole it once. And I'm an atheist, so I know the Jesus part is hollow the same as the Christians paying tribute to Caesar was hollow. Finally, the virgin birth and the sacrifice for our sins were also stolen from pagan mythology as well. Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar, pagans through and through, were both reported to have been of virgin births.

  • @deepashtray Hahaha! Someone beat me to it too. By a year and I didn't know it. So I guess there's room enough for more. Maybe you can go more in detail about it then I did.

  • I thought the supposed war on Christmas was more about it being taken out of the public square or allowing other people into the public square, not about any altering or distorting of Christmas.

  • @MrImmoli It includes that as well. I hear them saying that when it's written as "XMAS" they have a problem with it. They also claim to have a problem with people saying Happy Holidays.

  • @rationalwarrior

That makes sense. Must just not have ran across any of the types you were talking about so I didn't realize people felt that people are attempting to distort it.

  • Enjoy your new house man.

Christians are hypocrites about Christmas ? Christian hypocrites ? You don't say ? :D

  • @gaglamesh731 Thanks man! I just have the awful experience of packing and moving to attend to.

  • @rationalwarrior

My experience is bad with rented apartments.

Always , just ALWAYS , they have to change a pipe or have a water problem or a heating problem or electricity or internet cables . Drives me nuts. feel your pain.

  • @gaglamesh731 I've had the same issues. I've had ceilings collapse, maintenence men steal my equipment, etc.

  • Nice lookin place man, congrats.

  • Blade?

  • axial tilt is the reason for the season. Merry day's off everybody.

  • Ok, if they want Jesus in the season so damned badly, why not deck the halls with fake blood? Christians are all about the blood. ಠ‿ಠ

  • Capitalism keeps food on the table not baby jesus!

  • First thing I want to say, congratulations on an awesome purchase. Second thing, excellent video. I love hearing logic.

  • No Christ, No Mas... Happy Holidays.

  • I would love walk through of your house, its beautiful.

Also I believe in Jeremiah, Yahweh tells his people directly, to NOT attain a tree chopped down and put upon it ornaments and emblems, etc. Like those going against your Lord are doing. uh... lol

  • Hey RW, happy holidays (yeah, that's what I said - that's what I meant) to you and yours! Don't let the crybaby persecuted majority grind you down.

  • @bowlsallbroken Thanks and the same to you. They really annoy the hell outta me with that.

  • LOL!!! Tell it like it is , not how it might be , enjoy living in the "age" of information my friend ~

  • Someone's got to to this...MAS

  • @BlackJeopardy Merry Mas to you! :)

  • Didn't some sect of christinsanity actually do exactly what the secular world is being accused of? Catholics and protestants come to mind as the likely suspects, I know one of the more popular ones won't celebrate it based on their interpretation of the buybull, and you know how these people are about others who don't share their beliefs down to the last minor detail....

  • So if we take Christ out of Christmas, what we're left with is "mas" or "mass". What secular person wants to go to mass?

  • I just want to put the Sol back into Solstice. This is supposed to be sunny Southern California and it's cold and wet here.

While we're at it, let's put the Saturn back into Saturnalia.

  • Love your videos. Cuts right to the point. Great house. Gotta share a video tour when you get settled in. Hope you have a great Winter Solstic/Holiday Season with family and friends!

  • i love that you used the "bat man the animated series" Mark Hamil's joker was the best

  • Man, you're looking very Denzel Washington in Training Day

  • @Coughlan616 LOLOL

  • @Coughlan616 Hahaha!

  • Well you know how threatened the Xtians are if someone doesn't believe EXACTLY what they do.

  • Happy winter solstice!

  • This is 100% correct.

  • The bible flatly states that believers should not place in a tree in their homes according to the customs of the nonbelievers. So, yeah.

  • Fuck Christmas. And fuck your Jesus.

  • but most Christians are silly and cant grasp the importance of ideas predating their beliefs.

  • @muffinma79

Exactly. I remember an Onion article titled "Babylonians watch in Amazement as world is created."

  • Christianity ALWAYS assimilates what it cannot annihilate.

  • @bamboo4tameshigiri Resistance is futile, we are the Borg...I mean christians...

  • lolol If facts, truth and evidence really meant anything to most christians, they wouldn't be christians. So every time you think you have a BAM in your face moment or hahahaha what do you have to say now moment they reply back with "I don't care, I know what I believe" garbage or you see this moment of aduh on their face which leaves you wondering are they thinking or just screaming religious verses in their head also calling you the devil. You guys know the look lmaaaao

  • Good point!

  • I am a vampire and i'm scared of this video....

  • Many Pagan religions are actually more plausible and believable than Christianity. As silly as ghosts, astral projection, telepathy and other new agey stuff is, it is nevertheless more believable than a man rising from the dead, magically willing energy (and even entire complex organisms! Snap your fingers and viola! An instant human!) into existence, and the Noah's Ark craziness. Darkmatter2525 has a cartoon that highlights the ludicrous nature of Noah's Ark quite nicely.

  • We have the cool people on our side of the culture wars.

  • Chronologically the winter solstice was "stolen" by christians, and later down the road christmas was stolen by… capitalism!!

  • @AtheismTV Well said. I'd like to know what the majority of Christians spend more time thinking about around Christmas time. Their God and the birth of their savior? Or what presents they have to buy people? Debt is fun.

  • Well spoken, sir. Easter is another so-called "Christian" holiday that is amongst the most pagan of them all. It's still named after the Celtic fertility goddess. Rabbits represent fertility, and so do eggs.

  • Tell them that if we're taking the Christ out of Yule that it's a Christectomy to repair Yule's Christoplasty, not a war. Then as a side note you can ask them when they're taking pagan godesses out of Paskha.

  • @JustAnotherMutant Hear, hear! It's high time the Godders got told some real truth. Christmas wasn't theirs in the first damn place. It's about time we took the Christ out of Yule and remember the real reason for the season.....

    Winter Solstice.

  • Happy Saturnalia to everyone

  • God hates Christmas trees!

Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. Elijah 10;2-4

  • OOOya. You gotta put a nice flat screen over the fire place.

When is the party to break the place in?

  • @4me2cclearly Actually that's not a bad idea. We bought a new one just for the living room.

  • @rationalwarrior

flat screen over the fireplace is a horrible idea. Heat and eletronics don't mix well

  • @ryankc83 Hmmm....you're correct sir....hadn't thought of that...

  • Can't wait to see what you do with the place.

Great video. Mind if I feature it for a bit?

    Congrats on the place.

Best of wishes around the good old yule tree this year.;op

    Peace my friend.

  • @4me2cclearly Sure I'd love for you to feature it.

  • :-)

  • i think he needs to take the mas out too its short for mass as in an session of worship

Plus the puritans (founding fathers) actually banned christmas in England

  • I like that I get ads like this: "God - total union with god" on atheist videos. Its like the faithful are sponsoring them

  • Exactly ★★★★★

  • You rock!! Congrats to you and your wife the house looks nice!!

  • @KitKatPack28 Thanks my friend. We definitely needed someplace bigger and this is really nice.

  • So true, I hear their bullshit all the time. Congrats on the house!

  • That's really crazy, I put out a video about a year ago titled "Taking the Christ out of Christmas", in fact, that's why this one caught my eye. I'll try and post mine as a video response if you're interested in checking it out.

Either way, I'll have to check out a few more of your videos....

  • @OGjimbo I'm going to check it out. Thanks for watching. This is a pet peeve of mine. They have this sense of entitlement that makes them think everything belongs to them.

  • @rationalwarrior Right on man, I'm actually kinda surprised we haven't ever ran into each other before. I subbed so that should take care of that. See ya round.

  • @OGjimbo Hey thanks for watching. I've been subbed to you for a while now. Talk to you later.

  • Taking the pagan out of Christmas would leave nothing but a butt ass naked Jesus. Ironically Christians should be launching a war on Christmas.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice house! It's funny they think the "secular fundamentalists" (that's what the fundies call us) are offended by "merry christmas" and are trying to destroy it, or whatever. I don't know of any atheists that get offended by hearing "merry christmas". The reason some people say "happy holidays" isn't to destroy christmas, but to include people who celebrate other holidays in December. But the fundies are too worried about themselves, and could care less about including people of other faiths.

  • @proudtobeatheist1 Exactly, I've been trying to explain this to people, but their delusional minds just want to believe that everyone is out to get them... and only them.

  • @proudtobeatheist1 They could careless about other cultures. All they seek to do is convert others into their BS and claim ownership over things that don't even belong to them. This needs to be challenged.

  • Egg nog, the real reason for the season. Now quite declaring war on Egg nog, because that's some good shit.... :P

  • I hope the move-in goes well! Looks like a lovely house.

As for "X-mas" or Christmas ... I'm not sure there is anyway to get through to these "War on Christmas" types. I've tried explaining and it's like talking to a 2 year old. I actually feel bad saying that cause it's an insult to the average 2 year old, who honestly might be more intelligent and capable of understanding.

  • @tattooskin72 Hey thanks my friend. It's really annoying to hear them act as if they are being robbed of something. Especially since they hyjacked the custom in the first place.

  • I don't know about you all, but I celebrate Newtonmass ;)

  • Christians are the ones who forced Jesus into this holiday, and now they're whining about how people are forcing it out. And I thought christmas was a hypocrit holiday without the religious background.

Also, how can these people claim that christmas is a christian holiday, when (to begin with with) there were no oak trees where Jesus was born? Such an obvious self-contradiction, and they don't even notice it.

  • @DeathsPictures Just curious. Oak trees? Don't you mean pine or spruce or something? Or is there something about oak trees and christmas I don't know about?

  • @weelittledragon Okay, so I mentioned the wrong tree (not entirely sure why). But my point still stands.

  • @DeathsPictures Yes, your point does still stand. I never meant to imply otherwise. You're quite right about the trees.

  • chill out christians and love thy neighbor

  • Great video :-).

  • the biggest war on christmas is coming from the shops all christmas meaning has been stripped away and replaced by spend spend spend and any one against christmas just has to sit back and watch. thats if there is any one who realy is against christmas, sorry christians the same way you stripped pagan customs away from them the money makers are stripping you. enjoy the food, drink, tv and most of all family

  • @333derick333 true true.....gotta love how modern Christians don't even realize ALL of their most cherished traditions (other than maybe going to an actual Christian Church for Christmas worship, and even that has some stolen traditions) are all pagan traditions or mixed in with traditions of ancestor worship.

You think they got in pine trees in ancient Palestine?

How many fat men in red suits flying around pulled by reindeer?

They annexed the pagan festival, simple as that.

  • @OkamsRazer in some way we should thank them for this, it at least keeps some of the old traditions alive and lets us see a part of what a doomed faith looked like, it also makes me wonder what will be left of the big 3 when they have passed. here in the uk we have a lot of these traditions right through the year, some of which don't even give a smile to christ, but were put back in place by a victorian priest to keep history alive and i would think in some cases for the fun of it.

  • Congrats on the new house! It looks really nice!

  • @TheCaptainD82 Thanks!

  • Hey, Christians! Got your attention? Good. You stole Christmas first, now STFU.

  • Cultural hi-jacking. They were all pagan holidays originally. Happy Winter Solstice to you.

  • The sense, you makes it!

    Like always!

  • Nice house! It looks very roomy.

  • Good video. Good to see you but anymore I get sick of having the same argument over and over. Christians don't listen. And some even say "well ya it was but now its a tradition of ours so leave it alone" and they ignore all the key points. I just tell em to stfu anymore. Its not worth explaining the same point over and over and over then having them finally say "well ok i get what you are saying but i don't care".

    *headdesk* x 9001 [over 9000]! ;b

  • Thank you so much for that!

  • i gotta say it festivous for the rest of us lol. happy solstice to all stay warm cuddle a lover share ,give, be merry. i have a theory it goes like this three wise men followed a moving star?ufo across the dessert to find a hybrid child born in a manger by a virgin...... how does one become pregnant without copulation? artificial insemination thats how booya i know christians its alot to take in pace yourselves it will be okay ;-)

  • its blade! omg!

  • @brandtproduction haha, 'sactly what I thought!

  • @brandtproduction LMAOOO!

  • @brandtproduction,

Damn, I was gonna say that. Ah, well, "Some Christian motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill."

  • @brandtproduction Dud... That's Morpheus...

  • oh oh oh! I've got it, its middle child syndrome, the jews came first then these fuckwits, then the mussies. the jews are always getting into trouble because they are the oldest, the mussies get all the attention because they are the youngest, but no one gives two shits about christians so they are trying to draw attention to their bullshit!

  • and annoying ass songs about some bullshit kid that was shat out of mum's vagina in a barn about 2000 years ago.

  • Considering that Christianity is founded upon bitching, whining, moaning and complaining, it sort of makes sense that Christians' primary religious holiday should see their chorus of woe reaching its crescendo at this time of year...

  • @Aaron1975melbourne Yeah, it would make more sense if their primary holiday was more like the Jewish and Muslim ones (Yom Kippur and Rammadon [sp?] respectively)... then again, it's all bullshit anyway.

  • Gotta love Mark Hamill's joker.

Christians that think there is a 'War on Christmas' aren't all that bright, anyways.

  • how about take christianity out of everything, and throw it in the dumpster.

  • @halflifeproductionz how abount we throw it ON THE GROUND!

  • @halflifeproductionz LOLOL I don't know....maybe a toxic landfill would be better.

  • @rationalwarrior I disagree RW, a toxic landfill is too sanitary a place for christianity and its crap to be placed if you ask me. :P

  • Give us a tour of your new place, dude!

  • @TheD0ded0de I certainly will. I would have added it at the end of this video but I was pressed for time.

  • the christ out of christmas?

nothing in christmas is christian, everything in it is pagan, form the christmas tree to the christmas feast!

its only christian in name, so merry christmas everyone

  • Exactly right, a lot of the ideas of Christmas came from, among other things, the Roman festival of the Saturnalia, which was celebrated from December 17-23rd. Gift giving and feasting with family and friends were key elements. I teach my high school seniors this in their Year 13 Classical Studies class. The first Roman popes tried to stamp it out, but it was too popular...they absorbed it instead.

  • Personally, I don't care if anything about christmas changes. I celebrate it because it's fun. And it's the only time I can actually see people I care about. I feel many many atheists feel the same way, partly because, every atheist I know says the same thing. Awesome video bud, you're probably one of my favorite youtube atheists!

  • If you go to the site called wordpress and then search for the blog, atheistoasis, you'll find a very informative essay with a lot of research into this "War on Christmas". I've been posting the link on Facebook every time someone on my friends' list posts some copy and paste status even remotely associated with it. Had some interesting, and heated, conversations.

    Congratulations on the new house!

  • Opps, forgot to say that the essay is titled, "An Open Letter To Christians: Merry Christmas From An Atheist". It's from 2010 so you would have had to search for some time for it. :-)

  • @debbieomi I'll try to find it.

  • @debbieomi enough with the war already even american and nazi soldiers came together at christmas in peace for a night. im gonna declare war on war how bout that? im sick of all the fighting and hate and bullshit give peace a chance

  • @THESLICKNESSEDM Nice job reading what I wrote. I am not endorsing a war on anything. I was informing RW about a lovely essay with research about how this fictional war on Christmas began.

  • @debbieomi Thanks Debbie. The packing and moving part is the thing I hate the most lol.

  • Good point, they think it's baby jesus this baby jesus that lol

  • I love that jacket!!!
