There was a decent documentary I saw that said, if humans suddenly left the earth, how long would it take before there was no evidence of their existence. The answer was around 50 thousand years and the only things left would be the massive stone structures like the pyramids. Everything thing else would deteriorate until there was nothing left. This might be a possibility for Mars.
