  • when i went to the link it says that this page doesn't exist (anymore)

  • how fo you look around your object?

  • when using your touch pad on a laptop how do you rotate it?.....can you do a tutorial on how to make water?...im working on a mermaid animation

  • cganim8or, great tut, i jump right into 2.5 and hit ma head hard. Its been a while since i loaded 2.5 on ma machine after that. but now this tut has quickly replaced hours of reading and boasted ma confidence, so i diving again, looking forward to more from u......

  • i have a question,

i recently downloaded blender 2.58 & its all different. just wondering if you can do a tutorial on how to make a theatre curtain that opens & closes. hope u understand my question.

    thanks

  • Next time, Decrease the update rate(or increase, I dont remember) so it makes more smooth

  • Thanks for the tut. I just downloaded 2.5 and really needed the reorientation.

  • then you are in the render you can press escape

  • I've just downloaded Blender 2.54 beta but there's an error with nearly all been unreadable, some letter are missing in words & there's a "rr" (double r) everywhere were the n goes, like it says Blerrde instead of Blender, I'm sure that is not like another language. I tried to re-download it & re-install it but the problem persists, I looking for help in Blender.org but I have found anything yet. Has happened to anyone else? Can anyone help me?

  • Nice introduction to 2.5. To close the full screen render preview just hit Esc (like before) or F11 to open/close it (like before).

  • Do you have to uninstall the 2.49b build to avoid conflicts with the two versions?

  • @DigitalWorkz Nope, you can have both versions installed without any conflict at all.

  • nice one. I just downloaded 2.5 a few days ago along with a fresh install of ubuntu karmic on a new 750G hd. Everything seems good except learning this new interface. Hard to tell what is a bug or what hasn't been worked on yet.

I seem to be having trouble lately getting alpha to show up on a texture within sequence editor.

  • could you tell me how to export the game exe in 2.5

  • how do you split windows? and how do you activate glsl shading?

  • @goshfather I think gl is on by default look to the corner upper right for a very light" \\\"

Just grab it and drag, and you have another window

  • downloading it now thanks for the tut

  • Hi, nice succinct tutorial. I was wondering if you've experimented with any other 3D animating suites and how they compare. (For example I've used Cinema 4D and wondering how their capabilities and limitations would compare.)

  • I also use zbrush and it's great! Together you can creating some stunning things. zbrush is nearly limitless with it's scultpting.

  • @busdriverjow How they compare? For example I haven't heard of cinema 3D. Blender is now the best, and amazing as it might be, the best is also free.

  • i am completely lost when it comes to blender. how did you learn to use it

  • Reading dozens of books, watching hours of tutorials, and practicing every day.

  • the Esc Key brings you back to the previous view.

so F12 to render and Esc to return =]

  • tanks

  • I have a little question here: How do I render with the smoke simulation? Because when I try to render it with the smoke simulation applied. Only the particles of the smoke is rendered and there is no smoke :/.

/Thanks for replying to this comment, Suveilt :)

  • i have a tutorial showing you how to render smoke...follow my tutorial and it will show you how to take out the particles and also add high resolution

    watch?v=BrXcdP01qRk

  • Awesome dude

  • Thanks i was hoping you would do a quick 2.5 intro.

  • muy buen intro para los principiantes ...5/5!

  • Great and clear Intro Man...I will favorite it for further reference....I need to practice it more...5/5!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, this is the up to date version. Where did you get 2.5.2?

  • oops thats the python version, i'm gona update now!! lol

  • Yeah I think I'm gonna stick with 2.49 I know this 2.50 is an improvement and all but 2.49 has a bigger screen and easy to work around with.

  • Same here. At least until the alpha stage is over.

  • It doesn't have a smaller screen. If you press T and N the added tool boxes collapse, and it really seems like a much better space management system. You can also go into fullscreen mode. And if you have a issue with having all the different windows, you can just merge them, like in 2.49.

All that said, I will still use 2.49 whenever I run into a bug in the alpha, which does happen sometimes. But I think that the whole recode is just great and it's amazing how much work they put into it.

  • @Filmaker92 If you open your 2.4x file with 2.5 whle checking "import UI" viola, 2.4x layout preserved!

  • You can exit the render thing by pressing escape.

  • Thanks! :)

  • ok this is bothering me how do i import a picture to use as my background to model off of use as video etc.... PLEASE help

  • Do you want video in the background or a picture?

  • picture

  • thebackground image feature is disabled in this release....read the release notes.

    (sucks)

  • crap that sucks ok well thanks

  • Open up an Image Editor window and open your background images there. Then go to the background image tab of the toolbar (you can access with an "N" keystroke) and enable background image. The images will be available in the dropdown.

Same process should apply with video, although you might have to open it in the sequencer, I haven't tried it.

  • looks good. I'll have a look later but I really hope they have fixed the materials.

  • What do you mean? Is something wrong with the materials?

  • I've worked with 3dmax, Bryce and a couple of other 3d suites and blender by far blender has the worst material work-flow ever. (just my opinion)

I've even considered learning python to make a better materials panel...

  • I know what you mean. It's really hard to get the materials just the way you like it in blender. But it's a free program, so I can't really complain.

  • but I can contribute... May be I should pull my head out of my arse and make a plug-in to fix the materials work-flow before it collapse into a singularity of infinite confusion.

The node editor looks like some attempt and putting a nice visual work-flow in but why the hell have they separated materials and textures? (rhetorical)

  • That sounds like a great idea! I'm sure you'll get some support too. :)

  • @newusername01 Good ?. Maybe get on the stick & fix it!. I would but I don't know enough about it to tamper with code. I tried learning python without success :(
