  • One of my favorite overtures by one of my favorite composers! Who could ask for anything more?

  • Espectaculares los cambios de tempo y matices. ¡Impresionantes, virtuosos!

  • Carlos Kleiber è il più grande, questa Ouverture è indimenticabile

  • this guy is owning up 2:52

  • Also the oboist at 4:07 plays beautifully.

  • Too wild for your taste...this is classic Strauss with all the Viennese flavor--full of winks and nods.

  • Wild tempo fluctuations, too much so for my taste.

  • Shame.

  • Well when you get some taste you will enjoy this one!

  • you're a douche, Carlos Kleiber was straight and a genius.

  • The most beautiful music ever written!

  • so beautiful

  • My school orchestra attempted this piece. Needless to say it was pretty awful by comparison.

  • I love this song. We played it in our community orchestra last semester. The waltz section is my favourite part. :)

  • You like the waltz section, try "You and You", from the same operatta. It is all Waltz.

  • wow! what an awesome orchestra! and conductor!

  • Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the best in the world ! They are the only ones that should be allowed to play Johann Srauss !

  • Or, the Phil should at least be the only one allowed to play it in Europe : )

  • i wish i could have watched this live. Lovely music.

  • Thank u! I enjoyed it !

  • Thank you for this as yet only J.Strauss overture on Youtube. If possible would you happen to have some of his others, The Gypsy Baron, Blindeka, and Waldmeister are some of my other favorites.

  • This is not the Vienna Festival, it's the Neujahrskonzert 1989 (New Years Concert). Here is Carlos Kleiber conducting the Wiener Philharmoniker playing Die Fledermaus Overture, not a waltz.

  • Thanks, the person I got it from wasn't very accurate I guess =)

  • I've been looking for this piece forever, but didn't know what it was called. Thanks a lot.

  • Sure! I'm glad you liked it.

  • Me too...I've loved this since I saw it on the Tom & Jerry Cartoon "At the hollywood bowl". Thanks for posting this. It's gorgeous.

  • Thanks for the vid

  • sure thing!
