  • hi, great video, i made my first cigar box guitar a few weeks ago, ive done another and made a diddley bow, now i want to try the banjo uke

  • you sing good man!! :D

  • hey, the reason your skin looked like it was going to break is because your bridge is too big and your skin is not tight enough. Just finished making my own and it sounds was better with a tight skin. anddrums can handle the tention. Im a drummer, I know.

  • thump up if you think his face look like jack black :))

  • @sieunhanFTU Nice!!! Jack Black is my hero! I will give a thumbs up to that one myself!!!

  • Respect to you, man.. ;)))

  • hey bud the reason it sounded bad wen you went down the neck of the uke wen you had the bridge is because you dident have it set for intanation and a few more tips try tuning up the drum head a little the felt you put on it is deading the ring in the head if tuned propourley it will not ring so mutch umm o also great playing and i enjoyed the vid lerned alot thanks

  • Homemade banjo uke, Communist hat, pink vest top and a giant medallion.

I'm pretty sure I want you to be my best friend.

  • really like it the song and the lele

    nice one ;)

  • Love it, the vest, the chest, the double chin, the tat, the hat. Awesome.

  • I am beyond slightly digging the song at the beginning. I am just going to have to try this.

  • That roxy design is bad ass....

  • Nice idea! I bought a £10 uke as soon as I saw this video. Now to find a cheap drum! No offence to George Formby, but if all you are ever going to do is strum, then £250 is a waste of money for a banjo uke.

  • I drifted off, into a summerday... sweet. I'm starting to feel like buying a bunch of cheap instruments, just to save the necks...

  • I'm going to see if I can make one out of some marching percussion tenor drums. (:

  • WOW!!!! That's really awesome! I want to make one of these for myself, but I'm having a hard time finding some of the parts. I can't find a dadi hand drum and i can't find a string fastener like yours. PLEASE HELP!! I want to start making my own banjo uke!

Can you just use a regular tambourine to make it? Does the tambourine need to be tunable??

BTW, don't listen to all those d-bags making fun of your hat and shirt! YOU ROCK, DUDE!

  • this song is creepy, they use it in horror movies. plus, i don't know why everybody keeps giving you shit about your commie hat, in my opinion the tank top is the offensive part.

  • very cool ukue

  • hey, great work on that instrument!! :D also, you sing very very well(i really mean it!) and i love the cap!! :D

  • HEY! i'm about to do this, so excited and you're very helpful!

I'm thinking of a concert neck from mainland, but what size DADI hand drum would be appropriate? thanks :)

  • I like it a lot its sounds very good to me too!!

  • good tks for posting

  • The Jerk, hell yeah

  • Of course, you could just buy one of those 40$ ones. They're not the best, but definitely not bad. I don't know what the brand is, the thing holding the string pegs looks like a dolphin though. But, it is good to see someone using some ingenuity.

  • Love the video, and the uke, but the comments had me rolling :-)

Really, the idea of Chaiman Mao playing the uke reminds me of the first few seasons of M*A*S*H.

    Thanks for the video!

  • I didn't know Gaddafi liked Ukelele.

  • @noahlankford1 And I didn't know he was Chinese either.... Go figure...

  • @sirant i saw that hat on dragon ball, the first one!

  • doggone man that sounds nice!

  • I think it's normal to add a spacer block to the base of the neck to extend the length and allow the bridge to be placed closer to the center of the head. A ukulele body is longer than a hand drum.

I make my own banjos, so I can assure you that the rod is necessary. It supports the hoop against the string tension and prevents the circle from becoming an oval over time.

After I finish my canjolele I'll see what needs improving, then I'll probably use your design to make a banjolele. Looks fun.

  • where did you get the dadi drum? i'v looked all over and cant find one.

  • for the record... I believe that the rods in banjos hold the neck on, and it is the tension on the head that keeps it from sagging... of course you probably can't tighten the head much more and the head might not support the bridge, so I think your fix is great in that sense... great job, and interesting video.

  • where did you get the string fastener?? it's the only part i canot seem to find.i would really appreciate if you told me what website you got it from.thanks

  • sirant,

Love the song. Can you give more the chord progression? Wanted to try it on my full size banjo.

  • I do nto mean to be rude, but when I saw you I was like "oh dear, he's probably gonna yell about crap" then you played and spoke and taught, and yo uare evry talented. nice one fella.

  • Where did ya get the Commie hat?

  • how big is the drum?

  • thanks for the vid. I was contemplating whether or not I should buy one but I guess I'll make one :)

  • Is that a Chinese Commie hat you're wearing? WHY?

  • @MrErsly It is in fact a Comrades hat made popular by Chairman Mao, though this is just a souvenir. As to why I am wearing it, I like it. Looks cool!

  • @Rasmoonn Charming. Glad you liked the video so much you wanted to leave such a nice comment.

  • Sound great! Thanks for the tips!

  • awesome video dude

  • Love it, I would love to make one, might give it a try when I have some time :) another great vid :)
