  • How about a ping pong ball for the valve?

  • wtf?

  • This music should only be used for: Warriors riding over rugged mountainside looking smug, a group of astronauts patting each other on the back, or a camera flying over a desert with some tribesmen riding camels.

  • This is at Least the best use of this type of music i have ever seen...

  • nice!! it could launch a missile and land it on the same spot!! A very PRECISE missile indeed!

  • The music is from the game Lineage 2, i think is from the load screen or the character selection screen.

  • lol if you get enough oxygen in there you could have a bomb, or cannon, or rocket :D

  • Did you get your deposit money back on your jug after this run LOL.....

  • I love the music, where can I find it? the video is so so... lol.

  • that was epic!

  • "That's another 3 inches for mankind..."

  • Why does it say "World's Worst Pulse Jet Engine" when there is epic music playing in the background!!!! CONTRADICTION

  • That music is epic.

  • @jtp0321 Explain what a "reteard" is please.

  • what is the music you've put under it?

  • I think it would work better if you had a shorter and smaller diamiter tube and no valve. Some guns I've been experimenting with pwered by gaseous fuel and air mixtures will sometimes run like a pulse jet for a second if there is too much fuel. The one that did that the most doesn't do it at all now that it has a longer barrel.

  • Not really sure if the music fits, but maybe that's what makes it so epic? I dunno, lol. thumbs up man

  • Interesting, yet boring.

  • lineage song!!!!!!!!

  • Autum Skys Forever !

  • that was soo cool man! 5 stars

  • Now that's niftier than neat, and neater than nifty....No reason you couldn't make a simple valveless (or valved one using a dynojet haed) out of thick clear plastic tubing of various diameters. Yes it would melt, but I bet it'll run for while before self destruction. It may even use itself for fuel before collapse.

  • I probably have 4 or 5 design flaws with this setup for it to work correctly. (comb. chamber size, tube diameter, tube length, valve size, no additional fuel feed, etc) If I could get it to run for 2 seconds it would give me 40 seconds of footage- and that was all I was hoping for! I would think the first thing to fail would be the valve, and then it should stop cycling. I think it would be facinating to watch. Thanks for the comment.

  • for it to be an engine doesn't it need a fan to intake air?

  • My friend who makes valveless pulsejets would get a kick out of this! His YouTube is BeckTechnologies, check his site out, and send this video his way, I'm sure he could not only help you with the design, but may have some questions for you as well regarding the filming, since being able to slow thigns down may help him figure out how his engines are preforming! Cool music too for the vid by the way!

  • Thanks! I'll have to check that out. All I was hoping for was to get a few power cycles out of this before it melted down or ran out of fuel-

  • thats pretty crazy. how is this different than the other 5 gallon water rocket? besides it has a pipe at the end. looks like there are some cuts or something at the back

  • the difference is the extra hole at the end of the jug and the flapper valve/coffee tin cover. In theory, the flapper should open up during the relaxation (under-pressure) period after the initial pulse through the pipe, thus replenishing the oxygen and allowing for another pulse event to occur.

I suggest you try making the hole larger or add another hole lower to facilitate a better fuel/air mix.

I really dig the epic music you put to these videos. Keep 'em coming!

  • I was thinking the same thing about the valve size. I should be able to double the size and still use the lid. (I had to find something I could fold to fit into the hole and then spring back to the same shape) The engine SEEMS to produce a second pulse- a very weak one. I was kind of surprised the valve actually held pressure! Thank you for the comment!

  • I put a link in the video from a guy who explains the priciple pretty well. I'm sure I have several flaws in this quickly put-together contraption. Sniffsnarff's explanation is good too.

  • sweet thanks
