Beowulf and Grendel is only close when it comes to the way everything looks for the time period. It wans't a bad film, but Grendel should be allowed to be a monster but pitiful as well at the least. Here they nailed him more. I get the point of this saying this is told by man's perspective, but at the least they could have made him a bit more monstrous like. Although I did like it much more than the idiotic 1999 Beowulf film and the sci-fi movie Grendel. It's hard to make a perfect Beowulf film.

Yeah but even so I think a costume could have helped. I know it was trying to go more for making him pitiful and more of a giant than a monster, but I'm saying that he could still look sad even in the form of something hideous. I'm not judging that film or saying this is the only good adaption, but I think Grendel looked like what the creators inteded as the embodiment of pain although still monstrous as well.

Yeah as I said they originally made him bulkier, but they then thought it'd be more emotional if he was deformed and decayed. Like they say, history is written by the winners, and making the monster sound weaker wouldn't sound as good to the people when they heard the tale. It might have mad ethe fight even cooler, but it wa san interesting idea.

Its so cool. If you take enough damage, you hear the dragon tempting you and then when you hit the R2 button, Beowulf yells out and turns into his 'Carnal mode' (when the screen in all red) in which he gains the 'strength and fury of 50 warriors'.

If you aren't tempted, you can go carnal manually (2:48) where you hold down the R2 button and Beowulf begins to focus his rage and enter his Carnal mode ((KAOKEN!!!!))

The drawback however is that your 'Thanes' (AI allies) become frightened of you and the more you stay in carnal mode, you can't tell the different between ally and foe and you will find yourself attacking your allies. The end result is that the next mission you take, you start with less AI allies.

The alternative to Carnal Mode is Heroic mode in which Beowulf rallies his AI allies and gives them all a battle increase with an inspirational battle cry. Doing so will anger your Inner-Dragon
