i dont know what you mean by you cant play as your charecters in a maxis made mission because they dont seem to lock their captains but anyways, if you look at the level in the level editor and look at that panel that shows the captain they used for testing the level ( it is problably in the bottom right corner ), it'll show a lock sign ( problably to the upper left or right of the captain ). if the lock is shut, just click on it to open it up, and you'll be able to use your own charecters. ->

but you will have to resave the mission and then start up quick play. then all you have to do is pick your captain from your creations ( but first, remember that you pick the version of the planet you wanted to play that has been unlocked. ) and then you can play it with your captain! the only bad thing is your version of the mission wont give you as much points as the original version did but still, its fun playing as a captain that you've created. i can make a better explanation later.

This is awsome. I have made a hard adventure called Prehistoric Planet. And that is my first adventure. Yours is more of a story, while mine is a mixture of ... anyway I like storys so i play it when i can.

I got the game now since release day and made some missions myself. It's ok, but it suxx that it's so limited. You can't for instance make the player choose between 2 different ways to complete a mission :S
