Sebastion is Trinidadian, not Jamaican! LOL. I'm Jamaican and our accent doesn't sound like that. Also, it's Calypso music, not Reggae. People are so ignorant, smh. Look up "Trinidadian Accent," or Anya from Project Runway. Yup, Sebastian is Trinidadian. Don't forget it :)

If a person from Jamaica speaks English but has an obvious accent to non-Jamaicans, what would you call it? :) It's valid to say a person from Jamaica has a Jamaican accent just as a person from Scotland has a Scottish accent. Also, Jamaica does have its own form of dialect (true) and it's called Patois, or Creole. I consider it more of a slang because it's essentially English mixed with a pigdin. British English is the standard taught in schools.

It's not so much that people are ignorant, but uninformed. Trinidadian culture is not as widely publicized as Jamaican culture, which is why people misconstrue both cultures that way. I may not be from either culture, but the same thing happens within the Hispanic community as well. Not ignorance, just misinformation.
