When i use the first button the door don't open and for move the elevator i must use all button inside elevator, and when the elevator move its up and down continualy, wher's the problem? :S [I'm french, sorry for my english]
@P4INKiller What if a player was killed in one of the elevators? Then someone would teleport into that elevator and a body would suddenly re-appear. There would be no way of keeping the different elevators looking exactly the same: things like lighting, decals (like bullet holes, blood and sprays) and props cannot be controlled.
@Darkbuilderx Yeah, sorry about that. I had do make it twice because I messed it up the first time. I guess I didn't cut the video clip far enough back. Just press on and use the 2nd take.
@YayJike This isn't a entity mess... Its like 7 logic entities! Also, CSS does not support NPCs, so that is why I made it like this. Also, if mapping, you'll find that it often requires a lot of entities to do a simple task.
yeah, sometimes I also find having such structures, but I was living and breathing with the entities while I was fixing them up, that's why I know where everything is ... You just simply built this in 12 minutes, so that is quite awesome! :) I gotta get around and learn the logic entities though, so far I am only familiar with logic_relay!

Unless the players will actually see the elevator shaft, there's no reason for it to be an actual elevator.
You could elevator rooms for each floor that looks identical, and then simply silently teleport all players in the room.

You're right about decals, but not the rest.
Props and ragdolls will teleport too, and unless you're doing something crazy with lighting I imagine it'll stay fairly similar.
That's probably the way I would've done it.

I use a much easier way to make an elevator. But this works too. :) But much, much more complex.

I made quite a similar elevator and uploaded it on fpsbanana (now gamebanana)
as a prefab, but I used a system based on logic_compares and not relays.
But its nice to see there are mutiple ways to actually do this!

an npc could simply be told to travel to a specific node. So, if I ever learn coding I will code an elevator NPC... :P

In Amnesia: The Dark Descent, the developers used a wall that moves up, instead of the elevator moving down, to save on costs.
