Probably because the milk isn't hot. I remember doing a similar thing with a cup of tea and the chocolate melted within seconds, leaving a residue of chocolate at the bottom of the mug.
Aww, I do miss the old imperial measurements! To me, "You get a whole quarter pound more" is easier to understand and sounds more meaningful than "you get a whole hundred grams more".
As already posted, Marathon was a UK-specific name for the bar known internationally as Snickers. Scarily, it's now been called Snickers here for nearly 20 years.
Don't know the date. I know it's between 1976 and 1978 but that's as accurate as I can get. It was recorded on a Philips N1500. It was a tank - google it!
My grandparents had a video recording of Jesus of Nazareth from about 1978 or 1979 and during the ad break was a Quality Street commercial, the one where the box keeps falling into the possession of different people. If I can dig it out I'll post it on here. People did have VCR's in the late 70's!
I had no idea fun size bars were that old.

@indiana1977 Nor did I, I thought they were a buzz word that started in the 80s but obviously not!

Those 'fun-size' bars look enormous; they've definitely shrunk since then!

Old Mars Bars were so much better. Now they just taste like a sickly version of a Milky Way Bar with some caramel in them.

"Marathon" must be England's version of "Snickers" beacuse of the peanuts it contains.

What date are these advertisements from? Did your family even have your own VCR back then?
