I recently joined Oath Keepers. I am just an average citizen, but I feel they are doing great work to make people in the law enforcement and military communities aware that the oath they took is to the constitution, and the citizens of this country. At times I regret not joining a branch of service. Even though I didn't, I would still stand shoulder to shoulder with those that did to defend this country and the document that made it great... The Constitution.
You are not going to like this, but everything I heard is a repeat of my responsibilities as a citizen, I don't see why I should pay someone to send me a diploma and a bumper sticker saying that. I guess this is better for people who never bothered to learn what a citizens responsibilities are.
Strange that you think citizens who join the taliban should not be held as enemy combatants, I thing they should be shot. I think any soldier who joins our enemy gives up all rights
@johnmonk66 John the Constitution can not be treated like a menu where you can pick and choose what should be followed and what can be ignored. No matter how heinous the crime a US citizen has rights. If guilty of treason they should be tried in a civil court not a military court. Start making exceptions, regardless of the temptation and we abandon what our Constitution stands for. I took my oath in 1969. It did not come with an end date. God Bless the Republic
@nbadhorse If you commit treason against our country in a time of war, it is a war crime, not a civil matter. The Constitution has admendments because times change, we can not live by the rules of 200 year old documents in todays world,
@johnmonk66 If you are in the military you are correct but if you are a civilian you would be tried for treason in a civilian court. The founding fathers knew what they were doing. That is why there is a way to change the Constitiution written into it. But that document has gotten us through World Wars, the resignation of a President and other things they could not have forseen. I would loved to have seen Jane Fonda tried as a traitor. But in a civilian court. Not a military tribunal.
@nbadhorse Oh how clever, betray America and work for an enemy but claim you are still a civilian? The second they committed treason they joined a foreign army. I have never, and will never, see a Jane Fonda film, because she is a traitor and should have been deported to a country she loved.
And where in the constitution does it say traitors must be tried in civilian court?
what sort of lobbying of congress have they been involved in? iam interested but would like to know more. its sad, in 88, when i joined the corps, the issue was still fighten commies, i never dreamed it would have come to our own govt.
I hope its not hollow rhetoric like the NRA seems to be. the NRA are toothless sellouts that sign off on every new infringement and wave a flag of victory like we are supposed to be grateful and pay dues to them for helping the govt make new BS laws instead of doing their job and working to get our full constitutional carry back in all 50 states.
@SavageHenry762 Everyone should push for full constitutional carry in the 50!
ANything less is limiting citizens to protect themselves just because they travelled a few miles down the road. That is NOT promoting equality as the constitution & bill of rights promotes.
@SavageHenry762 Totally agree. NRA doesn't get a dime from me. They should be working themselves out of business, but they are just sellouts at this point; they are just trying to keep the money flowing. Abolishing gun control laws has now become a conflict of interests for them. Of course, the Fudds will keep sending them money so they can feel good about themselves and their shotguns and lever action collectibles...
As for what they will do... Not every org needs to put foot to ass to be effective, some are there to put out info & individuals are responsible for acting on it. I know LOTS of LEOs & military that will NOT oppress citizens & support their rights while performing their duties, etc because of oathkeepers. To say 'toys in the mail' = changing the hearts of ppl back to the republic, the constitution & voting for good citizens is lacking IMHO.
Oath Keepers Founder Stewart Rhodes Explains Oath Keepers' Mission, and Lt. Cmdr. David Gillie at Lexington Green are the two videos one should look up for solid introduction. The idea and importance or effectiveness of ' standing down' is fully explained by Lt. Cmdr. Gillie.
I smell a rat. Ask yourself. What has the Oath Keepers done to combat the onslaught of the current coup?
Nothing.
They are either in the streets, expressing the so called Freedom of Speech, protection of unarmed citizens or they are complicit in allowing this to happen.
Every other "Promise" is a moot point. To outline what will not be tolerated, while allowing it to happen, video, after video after video, is BS.
However "people perish for lack of knowledge". Not every org needs to put foot to ass to be effective, some are there to put out info & individuals are responsible for acting on it. I know LOTS of LEOs & military that will NOT oppress citizens & support their rights while performing their duties, etc because of oathkeepers. To call that moot, changing the hearts of ppl back to the republic & the constitution is lacking IMHO.
@SafeArmsReview I avoid LEO's. I don't trust them. Won't even have a beer with them. They seem to have drawn a Blue line and choose mostly to associate with their own. They won't even police themselves.
We need to go back to the days of hiring Men and Women, to serve in peacekeeping at home and abroad, without them bringing some ulterior motives with them. When I took and Oath, I meant it.
I mean no disrespect to you personally. I'm basing my position on observation(s).
Yeah, you can join as a non service member or police. Visit the site, and glance around. I did. The lifetime membership includes a silver coin for my fiance and I.

5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.
I would definitely help invade any state trying break up the Union. Succession is treason.

BTW can send me info on organizations that you feel do a better job in combating the onslaught? I would be more than happy to check them out.
