I read a new book by John Maxtone-Graham call France/Norway. I love the book. I really knew France for who she was. Why she was scrapped, I'll never know. But, I'm going to get revenge.

The ships they build today are nothing more than cattle boats. What is so bad is NCL has their meathooks into the SS United States too. If they restore and steam the SS United States without trashing the boat I will ride with them otherwise I will never set foot on an NCL Ship. The Norway needed a new boiler yes. It didn't need to be cut up. Someone had their head up and locked and should be fired over that decision..
Please don't blame NCL. The scrap merchants as usual made the highest bid, this is nothing new, Cunard, White Star & others did have any more options then NCL. If anything blame the auctioner for sell her.
I love the song, even though it gets me dark. France/Norway was a beautiful Ocean Liner. Seeing her & listening to the song really turns me dark, but otherwise, I think about her life as much possible & little of revenge. But how long can this last?

my uncle was captin of this ship for a spell, and when i told him of the scrapping he broke down into tears, sutch a sad end to a beautiful ship, to hell with the alang scrapers
Though I never served on her I served on many ships that worked with her. Big Blue we used to call her. It is a shame that the age she belonged to has passed.

Took it in 2002 for our honeymoon. The presidential suites were awesome & the ship had an old school elegance.
