  • @alx101b 2 quick ways to see these deities are:

    1) look at the associated videos which show some of them

    2) Google them by name: Ganesh, Shiva, Parvati

  • I think you are a brilliant, intelligent and powerful story teller... I have always been judgemental about cross dressing people or drag queens etc.... but I have to say your story telling is unbelieveable and better than others. Excellent stuff Sister Unity...you actually tell it BETTER THAN MANY WOMEN WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL IT..... IM CONFUSED!!!!!!

  • Brilliant sister!

  • Cool Sister! Really loved it. Ganesha is my favourite, like for many. And I really liked your presentation. And its so sweet to see a 'drag nun' speak this story. I was smiling through the entire narration.

  • Well done! I had to save to my favorites as well ... Om Shanti!

  • I love this... The first thing I did when I was through watching it, was save it in my favorites.

    Love and Light!

  • Skilled story teller of Ganesh- however the story is little different than what I know. Ganesh is made of perspiration collected by Parvati and mixed with the same from her body. She did something more like bestowing him divine power. He is also known as God of Wisdom mainly because he has elephant's head since elephant head is considered an intelligent animal.

  • Thank you; those are marvelous details! Since making this video, I have heard a variety of additional details contributed by many Ganesh lovers from different parts of India and the world.

  • i wish I could do this for kids as a storyteller! so beautifull! :) thank You for sharing you talent with us! :)

  • loved it.

  • that was lovely, well done, classy, smart, etc.

  • How does she understand all this?

Has she done research on Hinduism?

  • gooooooooood........your story attracted me....

  • *a wonderful play, that is.

  • What a beautifully told version of this story. Thank you for posting! You should read (If you haven't already) A Perfect Ganesh, a wonderful by Terrance McNally.

It was a pleasure to meet you last night, by the way!

  • Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha!

    Wonderful, Sister! Thank you!

  • What a great performer, I loved it.

    Thank you very much.

    Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha

  • You are a delicious breath of fresh air.

  • woow! your awesome and a great story teller!

  • I enjoyed the retelling -- it was a slightly different version from the ones I'd grown used to seeing and hearing. Please keep them up! I'll be sure to browse your other videos. : ]

Perhaps you'd be interested in the story of Brihannala ( wiki eir name... hooray for Spivakian [gender neutral] pronouns! ). You might find one or two things in common...?

(I apologize is this response comes out in quintuplicate -- the quick reply is being a tad bit slow... I'll clean it up if it does.)

  • What a wonderful retelling of the story! And I love your personality in drag! You are very skilled and knowledgeable. How did you get the antennae to stay attached to your eyes?

  • Thank you! they are natural. I can retract them at night by pulling on my underarm hairs.........

  • That's hilarious! You have so many gifts! Thank you dear one.

  • "...And all of Hinduism rejoices that he did not see a cockroach."

    XD

  • Sorry, Unity, I don't think compassion is your middle name anymore... but it has nothing to do with this video

  • Thank you. Have you considered telling the story of Vishnu's Mohini, his female persona or the story of the birth of "Sastha" or "Ayyappa" the son of Shiva and Vishnu. or the fire god Angi, he was born of two women. or the story of Loki, who turn hisself into a mare gets F... by a really powerful stud. And of course the first and greatest hero Gilgamesh, who turns down a night of sex with the goddess of love and continues to be faithful to his male bride Inkidu the wild man.

  • Thank you for your compliment and request. You can see Mohini's story in brief as part of "The Story of Lakshmi" which you'll find in the videos I've posted previously.

Can you point me where I can find the stories of Sastha or Ayyappa, and of Agni's birth? I will gladly look at performing those.

  • I watched this in Religous eduvation earlier, i must say, it was amzing,

but, one question, i dont mean to be offensive,

    but are you gay?

  • There is no offense in the question. I am enormously, irreversibly, adoringly gay.

Thank you for your compliment. I very much enjoyed telling this story.

  • Thank you for answering, and not taking offense,

And im not surprised you enjoyed it, you did it very well

  • May you find strength & courage in everything you do, may your life be filled with Friendship and Love! It takes strength to survive, It takes courage to live. • thanks for the marvelous explanation, by the way great makeup ~~~~ wow wow wow

  • You're a marvelous bard! Thank you so much for your retellings of these sacred stories.

  • Those eyelashes are fantastic.

  • Nice, Jai Shri Ganesh.

  • hi unity, lovely rendition of ganesh. different renditions of the story appear in several of the puranas which are, as you know, really encyclopedias of hindu lore.

as for jeidda09's question -- ganesh is BOTH the son of shiva/parvati and just the son of devi. just like lakshmi is the daughter of shiva/parvati, a manisfestion of devi, and a goddess who was created when all the gods churned the ocean of eternity. they are gods and goddesses, so they can be many things at once, no?

    love,

    p.

  • nice... I have 2 Q : where is this story from? and how come Ganesh is son of both if only lady made him ...

  • Hi Jeidda09,

The story is from India; it is a part of ancient Hindu mythology, estimated at over 5 to 10 thousand years old. I will have to research the specific purana (my guess at which set of Hindu scriptures in which it may be written).

Your question of hsi being Shiva's son as well as Parvati's is a good one; I've wondered it myself. But as that is the way it is presented in the story, that is the way I told the story.

  • aha clear, thanks

  • this story is from Shiv purana, shiv is the father of ganesh because he's the husband of parvati.

  • ummm i like da way he/she said da story...but da make up was kinda disturbing..no offense O.O

  • Ganesh is all over my houes and you can see him in the red roce to :)

  • WELL DONE UNITY! well told I never heard the cockroach addition. But think, how mankind would haved revered the lowely roach if SHIVA had first seen it?

  • my my ! again saying ! i heart u ! keep up the great wrk !! sending all love from tj over to the entire world along w u !!!

O.~ thnx 4 being the greater human being and thatnoble soul !!!

  • you're going to be a youtube star, i can feel it.

  • I freaked when you started talking after all the mute theater hahaha don't scare me like that <3

  • Ahh! now i know his story. I always loved Ganesh but i never knew where he came from! Thank you! One more thing. I love that song in the background! what is it?

  • You are a wonderful story teller. I needed to hear this story and use it to understand where I am in my life. Thank you, o Sister Unity.

  • Delightful storytelling! I concur with the remark "It's like you witnessed it all firsthand." Just great!

  • Beautiful!

  • I love it when you tell this story. It's like you witnessed it all firsthand. And maybe you did...
