Jerusalem burrowing cricket also know as a Ant Loin. You can find them by looking for dirt mounds with a hole in the middle, you may also find trails of it comeing and going. THEY DO BITE!
It's a potato bug. It's completely harmless, though it can give an extremely painful bite. Ironically its called the skull bug (like the warning on toxins) lol.
These aren't that rare. I've seen several in my life around the East Bay, near San Francisco. I've caught a few barehanded, but be careful of their powerful bite. They are Jerusalem crickets, a large flightless (not sure) burrowing cricket.
Yep! I opened another window and then Goggled it. It is called a Potato bug, or a Jerusalem Cricket. I saw 6 pictures which were somewhat the same, yet they had some differences in color. Hmmm, interesting!
