@10haro1 yes there is no battery, therefore it needs an alternator to run the spark plugs, if there was no alternator, then there would be a battery which would allow the engine to run until there was no energy left in the battery, because the spark plugs require POWER to run.

@allukoira Nah. Actually, considering what Vtec technology is, it wouldn't make much of a difference versus a V8. Even the most powerful of the Vtec cars produced by honda, a variant of the S2000 that made, like, 270-something horsepower, can easily be outrun by something larger.

Besides, Vtec inline 4's have a little problem with low end torque. In a V8 engined car or truck, there's torque throughout the entire powerband, not just at the top.

@allukoira A Vtec engined honda is only good when it's full on throttle all the time, keeping your rpms at their peak, and only when it's from a standing redline start.

VTEC wins every day when it's set up to compete. On any other day, in any other scenario, any other car wins.

Also, fun fact. The only reason the whole Vtec system exists is because japan absolutely chokes their automakers out of making any real power with greater displacement engines.
