Hey, Chris! It's Luke. I played Mark...next to you on the line. This brings back fantastic memories of an excellent theatre, cast and show experience. The experiences I had at The Players Guild were invaluable. Their standards were so high and the next best thing to professional theatre. Rick Lombardo was a genius. I still have my copy of the show as well as my wall photo of "The Line". Best of all....I've been in Los Angeles for 10 years now.
Please, can someone tell me what happened to Cameron English, the actor who played Paul on the movie version in 1985? I have searched on the net, but have found nothing about him or about his career, after Chorus Line, except that he acted as a dancer in "Death becomes her" in 1992.
Some of the cast members have copies. When I find mine again, I can convert it to dvd and send it. BUT, I wanna trade. I want a copy of the promo photo of the entire LINE that they sent out with the press releases.
Yes, my name is Christopher Chen. I am based in Los Angeles now. I played "Paul San Marco" in this production directed by Rick Lombardo and Christine Gradl for the Players Guild. Link it wherever you'd like. My favorite part in this clip (and whenever I see this show) is when the entire line backs up and re-appears with only Headshots in front of their faces ... even in Hollywood, that just about sums up who you are: Your Headshot and Resume. --Chris
Christine Gradl is AMAZING! She's the one who staged this production of ACL (one of her first directing/co-directing stints?) She's since gone on to do AWESOME stuff. She's tough, precise, but compassionate. LOVELY lady!
Yeah, I did a handful of shows with her back in the late 90's. We called her 'the dance Nazi' hahaha but seriously she made me want to work so hard. I danced my ass off for her and I would gladly jump at the opportunity to work with her again. By the way, I have played Paul a few times ah-mazing role!
We had the Intl. Co. "Maggie" stage our production with the Michael Bennett ACL "Bible" (even where to put the dance bags?) However, had to water down the choreo to keep up with the tempo (notice some "single" turns v. doubles?) That's the key that was in the score, but good ear, since I am a baritone singing a tenor line and head-voiced the high notes, but the bari quality peeked through. Thanks for watching.

Blocking/Lighthing is a little different than hours rendition - did you sing that in a different key at the intro? Good Job!!
