  • sounds good but 6000rpm stall bit high for around town but yea its your car.

    ps. like the vy shape

  • It's an auto =(

  • I have a question, why would you modify an aussie car to start with? i have a VS V8 commodore & the piece of shit is always letting me down and i don't thrash it i've only have tried to maintain it in the 5 years i've owned it. Been constantly let down by the fucker and i reckon once yours has done a few K's will be the same. I personally don't give a fuck bout Holden or Ford they're both built with cheap parts and have a very limited lifespan. they're shitboxes

  • @1980andyw You're probably right... It only has 71,000kms on it at the moment but time will tell how it survives...

But, in the time I've had it (4 years) it's been a much more reliable car than my two previous VS commodores, and the Subaru WRX I had for a while.

The only major problem I've had with it was repaired under the new car warranty. Since then, 250 trips down the drags, a lot of cruising and some hard treatment and it's still going great...

Proper servicing and maintenance helps though

  • @1980andyw Did you actually take care of it and service it? And the new holdens have american motors anyways

  • @hyowatha Yes i have maintained it but i guess you never know how the previous owner treated it. The newer models are probably better they've had more money spent on durability testing.

  • @1980andyw 4.0 sohc's go forever

  • @TheZHLANE spot on...!!!......... you can't go past that wild engine for power.

  • @dwaynE2099 total powerhouses aye, mentioned it because that muppet said they have a very limited lifespan when there are heaps that have surpased 1million km's.

  • @TheZHLANE youtube is full of muppets!!!!!

  • dont u just feel like bootin it at the lights? lol sounds mean man

  • so dus it stall on all gears or just first wen u take off

like if your driving in say 3rd and you accelerate dus it go to 6000 before it fully grabs or dus it drive normally??

  • that looks like it revs but doesnt go wen u got off the line at the lights

  • correct.

thats partly the effect of the high-stall converter. it takes a little more revs than standard to get it moving.

the video was to demonstrate that even with a big (6000rpm) stall you can still drive a car quite fine.

also it is hard to get a feel for the speed with the camera. you don't feel how quick it's actually going... if you look at some of the drag vids, they look the same, quite slow.

plus i don't reckon i got more than 25% throttle on it at any time during the vid.

  • @dwaynE2099

Doesn't this suck up fuel like no tommorow?

It seems like you gotta be revving so hard before any power goes to the wheels....but I guess this is made for drags rights?

  • @itsdamo1993 well yes and no...

in the city it is quite bad on fuel... i do around 300km and the thing is running out of fuel (65L tank) so it's worse than 20L/100km... but thats now it's got the big cam too...

out on the highway it does around 11L/100km at a steady cruise... it's not so bad then.

but like you say, it's more for the drags, that's where it shines :)

  • @dwaynE2099~ what mods have u done to the tranny?

  • @marek0086 none, it's a totally stock 4L65E with the big converter... the only modification is the addition of a transmission oil cooler.

  • Northern outlet, main arterial from city centre out past Invermay, Mowbray and Newnam to the east Tamar Highway. Keep up the videos mate they are good to watch and one day we will run into each other.

  • @robbietas ah yes, i see...

i hadn't heard of it being called the northern outlet before. i only knew of that from hobart...

anyway... going to do another one of these vids following a similar route tomorrow morning now the cam and stuff is done. just to show the difference in how it behaves...

keep an eye out for it.

  • I hear that 4 into 1's through a twin cat 3inch is for better rwhp with the LS1

other then that your car is sweet

  • mate you are 100% correct...

but i put this exhaust on when i had no plans for work other than basic bolt-on's... then i got a bit excited about drag racing and realised that my plans would see the little tri-y's and twin 2.5" become a bottle neck down the line.

but because of how much the current exhaust cost, i'm a little reluctant to change it just yet...

i will push it as far as i can and do the exhaust only when it is really holding it back. maybe after FAST 92/92 and heads it'll need it

  • what about heads man, what kinda heads you got ?

  • heads?

currently they're bone stock 241 casting heads... not shaved, not ported, standard, as delivered from the factory...

an upgrade is in the pipeline, but they'll be happening a long way down the track yet...

  • Yeah I am the same, mine only gets driven on the weekend as i to get supplied with a work car, clubby has just touched 40000 ks. Couple of weeks ago I was on your tail in the hilux on the northern outlet and you dabbed it into the maloo and it sounded sweet, think it was you any way.

  • 40k is pretty good for an older car!

mine is on 62k. i purchased it with 21k on it in feb 07... it was my daily for 18 months and did a trip across the nullabore too...

northern outlet? where abouts is that?

could have been me. i often just drive along then give it a quick blip on the gas. especially under bridges and underpasses :)

  • Gidday Dwayne, think i have seen your Maloo around town, good videos and love the HSV

    Rob.

  • quite possibly mate...

i cruise around a fair bit. mainly friday/saturday/sunday...

but i clock up a few miles in it... just love driving it :)

your clubby looks nice too man! nice car indeed...

  • yeah there's a very good chance you have...

i don't hide it. just love driving it and try to get it out every few days for a drive. i have a work car so i don't need to drive it.

but friday to sunday it gets driven heaps. usually do about 200km or so in the weekend...

i like the look of your clubsport too. very tidy unit!
