Nice use of "The Princess Bride" soundtrack as the background of your inspirational opening speech. :)
Now that I've finally seen the movie (the book is one of my top three favorites), I completely agree about Bana and McAdams having fantastic chemistry. I didn't particularly miss the deleted meadow scenes, as a young girl becoming infatuated with a handsome, mysterious, almost magical stranger isn't that much of a reach. The gist was there, and that's all I needed.
@ElectroSocketBlues Well, understand, I'm not saying Time Traveler's Wife is BETTER than To Kill A Mockingbird. I just like it better. I would still recommend To Kill a Mockingbird over Time Traveler's Wife, however.
WHAT?! I LOVED The Time Traveller's Wife and I felt that the movie reduced the complexity of their relationship to a very watered down version. I also felt that a lot of the changes they made iwas what made the story of the movie such a weak story compared to that of the book.
@ScabbyJill I have. I wasn't crazy about it. The story wasn't nearly as coherent and the subplots just went all over the place. Plus, some of it was just borderline creepy. I didn't hate it, but it doesn't compare to Time Traveler's Wife.
@bandgeek8408 Yeah, I've read the Time Traveler's Wife and had heard Her Fearful Symmetry wasn't too good. I was just wondering if I should get it, or not.
Sounds like this category was tough for you to call. Usually one is stronger from the get go, not this time. I am glad to hear that they didn't screw this one up, I'm always very wary about watching movies of books I particularly enjoyed.
Can you do a "Review of Shame" of Mary Poppins (the book) so I can see why you don't like it?

Your "war speeches" are epic. The hamminess is NOT overwhelming. Okay, a little...but that's part of the appeal. I love a good gimmick. :P

Love the book and if I hadn't of read the book I wouldn't of understood the movie. The movie was awful compared to the book.

The Time Traveler's Wife over To Kill A Mockingbird? Well. Wow.
I'll give it a read one of these days, but I really don't think it can top the classics for me.
Great review so far!

Curious: Have you read 'Her Fearful Symmetry' and, if so, what did you think?

I love war speeches. Have you seen the "40 Inspirational Speeches In 2 Minutes" video? Well worth a look, if you haven't seen it.

I found the movie a bit disappointing. It wasn't terrible but I felt the characters were much more complex and well drawn than in the movie. - jessie

I like Movie Matt at the beginning there. He's like, "Hey Book Matt...are you done?"

Ok, I've decided already - I really need to see this movie :) Thanks for solving that dilemma for me.
Looking forward to Part 2.
