  • The narrator is pretty right. Leonardo was one of the most, if not THE most important man of his age. And AC, despite being a "fictional" and I use the term with a hint of skepticism, shows that. Were it not for Leonardo's genius, Ezio wouldn't have deciphered the Codex and obtained all of the gadgets and items he did. Leonardo was instrumental and brilliant in the game, just as he was in life.

  • I have a nightmare that leonardo appears to me.

  • I enjoyed that very much :) I found it very interesting and very informative

  • Fuck obama...

  • what about his sex life? he never married? fell in love?

  • @Dathinkingman i was taught in school that he was likely gay. not sure how true that is but thats what they told us.

  • @Dathinkingman watch from the beginning, he says knowledge is forever his mistress. he had no time for distractions. and logically speaking, that's what relationships are. he was on a mission to learn EVERYTHING. and no i don't believe he was gay, he was accused of sodomy anonomously. If someone didn't like someone they would accuse them of a crime anonomously and sodomy had the worst punishments. and no evidence or witnesses had been found. i believe he was just celibate

  • @Dathinkingman no, If he did, he wouldn't have achieved a bit of this.

  • @Dathinkingman People of this genius are not very susceptible to what they would likely view as frivolous. High IQ is associated with diminished sex drive and indifference towards sex and love in general. He would have most likely been what is today known as asexual or non-sexual.

  • Leonardo was a great man :3

    I really enjoyed this :D

  • So what did he achieve in his age? Most of the fascinating things he did were discovered in the last century.

  • great video ........

  • Long live Da Vinci, great documentary keep posting them.

  • An artist, an engineer, a scientist, a surgeon all in one.........Leornado da vinci, thou were truly great.

  • im 11 years old and leonardo da vinci is very insparational to me i watched this be cause i pleased to do so i love drawing and i have been told that i am the best drawer of my age theyve seen but i always say i am a mere baby compared to real people out there but now a days in society good drawing is a cartoon my drawing are actully me trying to be like leonardo da vinci i have actully gone to a hospital and asked to watch a sugery and i puked but oneday i would like to be a great artist.

  • thanks for uploading this....I mean I'm not studying for exam or anything I watch this because I'm a fan of leonardo da vinci :)

  • aaaand that's study for my renaissance exam done! thanks!

  • This is a lightweight documentary, its integrity compromised by annoying references to Leonardo's "code", an obvious attempt to ingratiate itself with believers in that silly book of a few years ago. Typical History Channel: pandering to the bottom through superficial characterization, corny "dramatic recreations", and focus on a few widely known aspects of the subject (e.g. the Mona Lisa) at the expense of revealing anything new or challenging about the subject.

  • @maxor03 was that really needed? This was a great documentary, you don't like this, go and pull Da vinci out and make im act, and take your shit to another toilet

  • Terrible peace of shit they missed so much why the fuck are they using fucking 17 year old actors he painted a lot of his stuff in his. 30 s bull shit actors YouTube leonardo da vinci movie and watch the 2 hour long thing way better than this fuck bs fuck tards

  • @skipachoy Most personnal life came from his journals, the rest was probably from his sketches and all but maybe theres something we dont know about DaVinci, *cough Assassin's *cough* Creed *cough* *cough* lol

  • How did u know he was gay.. People this days r stupid just like u, believing all the people say.. Think before u comment n don't just believe what other say.. Their r lots of haters, even me can make it up n say Da Vinci doesn't paint Mona Lisa n other paintings.. It's not that hard..

  • If only he wasn't gay he would have passed on his incredible imagination to his children... =/

  • @CommentzForFun - who gives a shit if he was gay or not? does that really matter? think about what this man done for mankind, his discoveries and his ideas. Without this guy, maybe we wouldn't have a better understanding of the human body. I think our only regret is, we found his notebooks at a later time. If we found them before, think what might have been achieved.

  • @KingsWorld2010 Dude im not saying thats a bad thing, but listen, if he wasnt gay and he had children, there would have been a chance that his children would have had the same kind of mind as he did and they would continue his work or bring it to a whole new lvl.

  • @CommentzForFun - I know, but how do we know this guy would have married and have kids? You can't justify anything.

  • @KingsWorld2010 yeah thats true, if he could do everything he did during his life and make a secret out of it, theres probably secrets his hidden even better then the other ones, he probably knew people would find his things.

  • inspired!!!

  • Love this show, not only did this show tell us about the stories of Leonardo Da Vinci, it also tell us that we should keep trying like how Leonardo Da Vinci did and also tell us about how our greediness grow as we became more and more richer or famous.

  • a "sketch"? really? u kno how long it would take me to do one of those "sketches"? i would need a big ass eraser sorrrrry i cant use chalk and ink and make it come our perfect on the first try like he did lol the dude was a beast

  • True!! He became immortal. I don't care his sexuality. I care that Leonardo was really a genius ahead of his time. Thank you for this documentary of his life.

Es cierto!! El se ha convertido en inmortal para muchos. No me interesa su sexualidad. Lo que importa es que Leonardo era un genio, y estaba adelantado en su epoca. Gracias por este documental acerca de su vida.

  • he gave the mona lisa to salai, though...

  • its dumbeldore haha

  • this was amazing ! thank you for this documentary<3

  • think was amazing ! thank you for this documentary<3

  • Leonardo's paintings of the human body are truely incredible; since he painted by candlelight. Fabulous documentary. thank you.

  • like for history

  • @polkysy10 how?

  • Amazing man <3 They say he tried and tried and only failed over and over, but he has succeeded into one of the most wonderful people to have ever existed <3

  • @skipachoy It's called imagination :)

  • They never talked about ezio :-{

  • @Legoman9988 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL xD

  • wow this was amazing

  • what do they mean by the code? awesome documentary by the way.

  • its amazing how a bastard child, denyed all education and expected to be nothing became one of the greatest man in human history. Truly amazing

  • @untoldivy : He was a prodigy since childhood.

  • Thanks for uploading this, it was definitely worth the watch, Da Vinci is very inspirational.

  • you really have to admire how Americian television can turn the one of the greatest artist the world has ever known into...

    McDonalds..

    bless...

    ;-}~

  • @monello198 Well that wasn't very nice!

  • @monello198 Exactly. This doesn't serve his genious any justice.

  • @monello198 McDonalds? I don't get it. But it seems like a clever joke xD care to explain? :)

  • @NVaizard

    no

    ;-}~

  • @monello198 That's mean T_T

Oh, well. Alright then. I was just curious. Bless you too.

  • he did great things in his time but he was a tool!

He loved nature so much that he didn't eat meat but designed weapons to kill his own human race that is so fake!

  • He's such an inspiration to artists like me as well as many other people. Like him, I hardly ever finish my artwork because I am constantly generating new ideas. I know many people who do this as well.

  • @ihopeutubedies

    maybe he had ADD? :/

  • Epic

  • RIP Leonardo Da Vinci.

  • Thanks for uploading this, I've always liked this documentary!

  • A genius and a icon ahead of his time, Leonardo Da Vinci's legacy lives on.

  • what a beautiful documentary

  • i'm so admire him....

  • @MrMadasuke : Me, too!!

  • needed more ezio

  • he was a genius but it seems as though he had a twist of darkness to his mind - he devised such intricate, brutal, brilliant devices of war, got the job constructing defense and weapons for war where it's likely he saw much brutality, he performed autopsies to study the human body and discovered groundbreaking things, he drew the picture of a corpse hanging. maybe it's nothing, just an observation.

  • Leonardo was the most gifted person in recorded history. His dept of knowlege on an increadable amount of subjects has yet to be matched. Definately a far superior painter than who ever came after or before him. His level of inteligence was god like and I think it will never be matched again. His flamboyancy and sexuality has nothing to do with his genious, the fact that he was these things does not degrade his brilliance. He was "the perfect mind".

  • This show is plagued with errors and inaccuracies. I condemn the writers and producers for not verifying the facts properly. The worst transgression was stating incorrectly, that he suffered a stroke that affected his "Left Side".

In fact it was his right side and he was perfectly capable of using his left hand. In fact , although somewhat weakened, he worked right to the end of his life .

  • Again, thank you History Channel and fuck you high school teachers. I learned more watching this documentary than following your boring lectures.

  • @salvyy History and Discovery channel are not that accurate as you may think, just as MTV and Vh1 have turned into shit, History and Discovery are in process of doing so, shows that have nothing to do with history nor science are taking over, it's all about the ratings now.

  • If Leonardo was to ever publish a book about his designs, it would take away one of his greatest things - mystery.

  • @GeneralCrumpets uhm, no. This is the exact opposite of his mindset and goal, of demystifying. Congrats.

  • Thanks for posting; I enjoyed that.

  • fantastic documentary, thank you for uploading :)

  • The ending (4:13 - 4:46) is AWESOME!

  • wow.. >_< such a great person.. with a great mind.. and lots of great ideas.. amazing skills.. versatility.. also, a great inspiration.. :) i don't know much about da vinci's life and works but with this documentary, little by little, i was able to know more about him. and because of this, I appreciate him more and more and become more inspired :D THANK YOU SO MUCH! For uploading the whole documentary ^_^ <3

  • Could you imagin what this man could have done if he had more time? I'm going to invent the fountin of youth.

  • Code, Da Vinci code, he had a code that pushed him. A code that Da Vinci Code that kept him coding his codes which has yet to be decoded by codes of codes. Not even a gameshark can figure out his code.

  • WOW! Thanks for uploading the vid, I've been admiring this man ever since I became aware of his works - truly a genius of his time. For me the best part of this documentary came when the narrator said that Leonardo "..becomes immortal." Perfectly said.

  • If you like this video check out the BBC version of Leonardo Da Vinci's documentary. Almost 3 hours long! youtube.com/watch?v=IQ9ar3X_u1k

  • We need someone like him this generation

  • @joshuaethiopia We probably already do, however people like Leonardo today are overshadowed by the likes of Justin Beiber and the never ending talk of politics. Rarely do you ever hear of what new experimentation's and discoveries are being made.

  • @csrtitus indeed. also the fact that we know TOO much today. no real discoveries can be made. Now we must turn our eyes to the skies. Reach out for space, the only thing that remains a true mistery.

  • @joshuaethiopia

no need to wait i'am here

    im next

  • @joshuaethiopia We have people like that, and these are the people who are usually called atheists, they are the people who struggle to understand everything and don't settle on easy answers. We also have the 'immoral' people, it was immoral, at the time, for Leonardo to cut the bodies, today we struggle to make homosexuality, euthanasia, incest (2 adults) etc. greater part of the society thinks these things are immoral, and a lot of people debate them.

  • @KamilWow. bullshit. Don't try to claim some sort of atheist superiority. Michelangelo believed in God to a degree. and most experts can't say if Leonardo did or not. Believing in God does not mean you settle for easy answers. Take your propaganda elsewhere. Goddard and Edison also believed in God. Genius and Talent are not measured by what you believe, but by what you do.

  • @TheSchoolWorld I wasn't talking about them but you cant say that believers (because thats 99.9% them) who hate gays and other religions, are good for the society, not to mention those fanatics who are against genetic engineering. Or those who say that exploration of the universe doesnt matter because we just live for God. I have nothing against reasonable believers.

  • @KamilWow. "believers" are a small percentage of those who believe in God. Most people who believe in a higher being today do not shun homosexuality and embrace science. You starting your statement with the generalization of "We have people like that, and these are the people who are usually called atheists" makes you sound just as small-minded as those "fanatics". If you mean christian fanatics, say christian fanatics, but don't flat out say "atheists", because it implies "no God". period.

  • @joshuaethiopia someone like him is born every day, our society tends to destroy genius.

  • @mobspeak true. modern society does do just that.. it teaches u "unless you goto formal university, you are nothing"

  • @mobspeak

it shouldn't though. Our country was made by renaissance men like Da Vinci: Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson

America is the greatest nation on earth because of it.

  • @tubub By what measure is it "the greatest nation on earth"?

  • @Urhed

By measures of individualism, self-reliance, and the polymath ideal.

  • @tubub Im not American, I think America (USA) is the biggest problem this world is facing, not the people, the Military Industrial Complex. Be part of the solution, Vote Ron Paul. I can't but you can.

  • @mobspeak

    I don't like Ron Paul's foreign policy.

  • @joshuaethiopia His name is Stephen Hawking or maybe Albert Einstein but he's not of this generation anymore...You're question is we need someone like him this generation.

  • @joshuaethiopia You're right ! I'm gonna be this generation's Da Vinci ! Just wait...

  • @joshuaethiopia we have justin bieber i think thats enough.......=)

  • @joshuaethiopia actually there might be :D but just like him he is going to be acknowledged when he dies...

  • @joshuaethiopia a man obsessed with killing people? we have enough of them already -.-

  • Comment removed

  • @MYNAMEISFRANKENSTEIN "A man obsessed with killing people..." So the studies of flight, artistry and naturalistic qualities, mean nothing if he was interested in warfare or the human body? We do need someone in the modern day of his own analytical qualities... would at least speed up the process of fixing all of our modern flaws. Also, Leonardo recognized the brutality of humans over that of beasts, obviously showing he isn't a bloodthirsty military genius, he was actually civilized.

  • @MYNAMEISFRANKENSTEIN Lol? You don't seem to know what you're talking about. If you're referring to his dissection of human bodies, you're wrong, because he used people that were already dead for the purpose of research, observation and science. If you're referring to his designs for warfare, you're wrong again, because he recognized that war was brutal and that humans can be worse than animals. He designed those because he was an engineer and again, a curious person.

    Basically, you're wrong.

  • @joshuaethiopia I want him as my father.... He was an amazing man. ''The bastard child''? more like the genius!

  • He is the one of the best minds of human history who pushed himself well beyond his time.

  • Leonardo himself once said that if you have a vision, a desire or a dream in your mind, than you shall have it in your hand

  • leonardo da vinci is the man, just hands down. i will name my first son after him

  • @phntazma95: Really? If I have a son I would name him after him, too.

  • Leonardo da' Vinci has been my hero for some time. Truly astounding mind he had...

  • Excellent documentary of one of history's greatest minds. (Wish I could read the subtitles.) Thanks!

  • :( i wish he discovered the secret of ethernal life:((( and never stop working on his dreams... Damn...life is short

  • wonderful documentary, such an inspiring individual he was

  • thx for the

    10 uploads

  • Great documentary!!!!!!!

  • Sweet upload, well worth the time/ 5+

  • if his designs of self propelled vehicles were actually used then gasoline will be a thing in the past, this guy is a genius and up to this day i would say he is smarter then einstein.

  • YAY!! Great documentary! Thanks a lot!
