Why can't we raise the state sales tax to cover some of the dept? MN, IL, IA, all have 6% +. We are at 5%. And why are we going to give $200 million to out of state financial management companies? Can't we find these here in WI? Any comments welcome
Oh! Volunteer cross guards! Why didn't I think of that? That'll solve the budget problems! So our only two choices are volunteers or unionized crossing guards... Hmm, I wonder if most school districts have part-time, non-unionized but paid crossing guards. Oh, they do! Why do I get the impression that Kleefisch hasn't organized a bake sale, nevermind organizing volunteers willing to patrol intersections at 6:45 a.m. in January in Wisconsin.
Sooooo...You add a staggering amount of regulation to how close Wind Turbines can be to residences, making it the strictest in the nation, which helps real-estate developers, because Wind Turbines are "unsightly." The same real-estate developers you got a huge campaign fund donation from? So in essence, you're creating legislation to improve conditions for the supporters "associated" with you? I smell hypocrisy...
the laws we have in place to protect workers don't do a thing to help. mainly because no body enforce's them. on the other hand i have seen situation's when the union didn't help either. I don't mind that someone has the right to negotiate their wages. how could I argue against that. In one county here in wisconsin they had to pay double to have their street markers painted because of scotts new law that said they could only hire contractors instead of paying their own
In Green Bay, collective bargaining has negotiated a nice little perk that most private citizens don't get: it allowed teachers to retire and work only 10 days a year and get 1/3 of their full pay. Guess what, this past fall 140 teachers/administrators in Green Bay chose that option. All at taxpayer expense
Wow. Great video. I love these comments "...the government will still collect just as much..." Kind of like, it's a big pile of money, someone's going to grab it, it might as well be me. For those that don't know, Wisconsin is one of the more heavily taxed states in the country. We had to BORROW money from Minnesota to make our last few budgets.
What a great video. Unions had their time and place. It is not now and definetly not in our government. In the private sector...FINE. Have them. You can choose to have them or not. But, as a tax payer. I dont want to pay for them. No need. We have, in Wisconsin, laws in place that protect workers rights. Laws that protect the employee with out a union. All this money that goes to the unions, tax payers never see a dime back. It goes to fund the left wing liberals and their elections
To all the kool-aid drinking union sheeple: most of the places where the taxes went up are places where the socialist / leftist officials layed down to unions and promised to pay before the Budget Reform Act was even signed into law. The Budget Reform Act should NOT have left the police and fire unions out. It's not that the pollice and fire unions should be next, they should have never been allowed in the first place. The unions would have our state motto changed to BACKWARD if they could!
If you don't think unions help you, I have an idea for you. Go into your boss' office and tell them you want a pay raise. One of the first things they will say is that your pay is on average with simular jobs. in the area, thats becuase unions help increase overall pay. Your and my company may not be union but what would the teachers, prison guards, and your county workers be getting pay'd if they didn't have someone to back them up.
@Specificityful I don't need to spell to find out that WI schools are #2 in the nation. bottom 4 states are none union! please remember the teachers are not the only workers affected.
@mmeck175 Our schools and public workers are still union. They just have limits to their collective bargaining privileges. Taxpayers are affected by these policies, too, not just workers. If my taxes are raised any more, my family will leave WI.
@Specificityful I suggest Texas the schools are on the bottom of the list!! if walker didn't give money to the to 5 % before getting a real plan for repayment your taxes would stay the same!!!
@Specificityful I hope you do know that some people are naturally bad spellers, readers, and etc. no matter the age or education. So really you statements is kinda invalid and stupid. Just say...
What a lying b***h! I know 4 people now whose property taxes have gone up for 2011, and have heard of many more. And using private contractors to clear the snow in the winter?!?! That costs MORE than using government employees. She's obviously never had to live in an apartment, where the private contractor doesn't get there to clear until mid-afternoon; and you can't even get out of your lot for work in the morning.
@ferretyluv On a job running in the red, I told the boss I'd work over 40 hours straight time just to get the hours -- it paid off with money, with job security, promotion and self respect.
@Floraizona So asking for overtime pay is selfish and hedonistic. Got it. Be sure to tell that to everyone you meet at the mall in retail this holiday season. I'm sure they'd be glad to hear it.
Good Lord, I look at all of the lefty libs (to use their words) "spewing" such crap. Are you kidding??!!! As a taxpayer I am sick & tired of taxes and fees going up to support the abuse by those public sector unions. What do you NOT get about the fact that unions do NOT belong in the public sector PERIOD?! We tax payers are NOT at the table when those unions are making their demands on OUR money. It's all dirty politics and it needs to be stopped.
@donna8982 Dirty politics come into play when the Unions use our tax dollars as campaign contributions to politicians running for office. Ending Collective Bargaining was not intended to end that as a whole, look how selective the GOP was about who Collective Bargaining ended for (police/fire dpt. donations?). The problem is with the lack of merit system. Also private corp. get gov. grants while lobbying using cash profit for deals you have little to no say in, so don't be selective.
TY Rebecca... This taxpayer is tired of paying for ridiculous things in collective bargaining such as viagra, stacked-sickpay, not being able to use volunteer crossing guards (many that dedicate their time to give back to their neighborhood) not being able to combine certain facility's that are hardly used, over-charged services, etc. Collective Bargaining is a privilege and it has been abused. TY for giving the public sector the freedom of choice to join or not.
sounds like she has a cold....borderline Charlie Brown's teacher sounding. She must be recalled because there's nothing more irritating. It's irritating enough that she only wants to feed the wealthy your tax money...but gawd sounding like that while she's doing it? Um...RECALL
bAAA baaa thats all i hear out of you union sheep i bet every one of yoou is lazy or a drunk and cant hold a job without the union protecting you now so you can understand it baaa baaaa baaaa baaaaa
@MrWalkerrules I'm straight edge actually, not part of a union, and I brush my teeth with a toothbrush using toothpaste three times a day. A sheep can't brush its own teeth with a tooth brush. Its not possible because sheep can't pick up a tooth brush.
The funniest thing about this video is that, after hearing her go on and on about "the government is...blahblahblah" ...you remember (if you have a working brain) that she's FROM THE GOVERNMENT! Congress is essentially a union as well. When was the last time you heard Congress as a whole vote to reduce their pay from the $150k+ each of them make to a more reasonable, say, 35k. Yes, I think our politicians should make less than the reviled teachers of this country.
After hearing her bash Unions for two minutes all I can help but point out now is that the camera dramatically zoomed in on her Educators Credit Union check book. Face palm.
This is such bull. Without collective bargaining the government will still collect just as much. The only difference is that instead of the money going to the low waged hard working employees it will go to those at the top that dont deserve it. Just another example of republicans wanting to hold the middle class down so they can sit alone on top of the mountain.
What a doltish bitch!
