I find it hard work too, and need to work very hard to learn a new piece. For instance, this piece, I listened to the original countless times over, each time writing down every new note I discovered, importantly bar by bar, beat by beat. At the same time fitting the lyrics in carefully alongside their matching notes. Then need to practice coordinating voice and fingers together, one bar at a time. Repetition & lots of practice. No easy answers I'm afraid! :-(

Subtle differences, that's all, Dan. It was great to hear someone else playing this tune. I arranged mine by ear, relentlessly playing and rewinding on an old tape recorder, but I notice we still pick almost identical notes...that's pleasing! :-)
