simple with just enough emotional flourish. this is such a strong song that it suffers when other interpreters try to add all of the stylistic "stuff" they want to include.
listened to a whole lotta covers of this song.this is one of the nicest.the guitar was PERFECT.
to me..this is a very emotional song, which has described a lot of pain i can relate to..i'd like to hear a bit more of that depth and feeling in this cover..that's just a tiny bit of constructive criticism ,because i think with that, you'd have a good chance at perfecting this song.
Excellent and beautiful. Thumbs up. I did a neat version of this song. Hope you will take a moment to click on my name and look it up and comment. Thanks, Sherrill
Salut Alan, permets-moi de te tutoyer,t'as la peche?Don't have the accents on this P.C so I'll continue in English.Irish origins, French ladybird, teaching English in the Drome(Rhone-Alpes),we like a lot of the same music apparently, but you perform it better than I do.
P.S I can't find that 5 grand I saved up-can I have your Fylde magician?
Your voice is particularly nice for this song, imparting the feel of narration and the emotion of the words. Your highs are clean and clear - very nice in this piece, along with such appropriate inflection. Lovely job.
Why not just, gee, I don't know...LEARN chords. Can you read and write words? Or do you just speak? Learning music on a technical level is important that way you don't limit yourself and you don't always have to depend on people for tabs. You get it?
I only have the 'music' sorry, no tab. I listened and wrote it down about 15 years ago. I'm happy to send it to, but first of course, I'll need an email address.
You have a great selection of videos; a gold mine! Don McLean, Lennon & Harrison, Nicola Di Bari, etc etc etc. The list is endless. Really enjoyed listening to many of them.
Wonderful vdo. I love your performing. How you played the guitar and your voice , WOW ! Thanks a million times for sharing this vdo. You are the best.
Really enjoyed watching your PRS demo vids too: and art-form which always blows my little mind! Hope the 'electricity in your kitchen' gets sorted! :-)
holy crap shit! Where the fuck did that come from?! That was amazing. The guitar and the voice, enchanting. I'm not sure that even you know how good that was... and bullshit about your voice not "lending itself", that is talent and everything encompassing the art of music...
You're right, singing and playing at the same time makes the job so much harder. You will without doubt need months of relentless practice until the playing and singing becomes one automatic operation; until no thinking is required!!! :-(
You didn't think I was being intelligent did you!? :-)
I don't know where to turn to hide my embarrassment! You're much too kind, but like I found earlier comments, your words are very encouraging. Must get that guitar out again some time!!
Honestly, you have the most beautiful singing voice I've heard in a LONG time. It is so pure and clean oh my goodness. You sing it better then McLean. Chills.
I really enjoy listening to this, sounds great! Sorry for posting again :P. I can sing, but when it comes to singing and playing guitar at the same time I find near impossible!! Any hints as to how to do this???
I find it hard work too, and need to work very hard to learn a new piece. For instance, this piece, I listened to the original countless times over, each time writing down every new note I discovered, importantly bar by bar, beat by beat. At the same time fitting the lyrics in carefully alongside their matching notes. Then need to practice coordinating voice and fingers together, one bar at a time. Repetition & lots of practice. No easy answers I'm afraid! :-(
I'm embarrassed to confess that I've playing for just over 30 years now! I practiced and played fanatically for the first 4 years, then have been steadily going downhill ever since! :-)
WoW, that's really impressive! I guessed it would have been a while, really enjoyed your version of Vincent, great song. Now I'm sure you're not going downhill, hehe, maybe a little modest.
you must have put so much time and effort in over the years to play so beautiful,i have just started a few months ago and will be happy if i can be half as good.great effort
You're right about the amount of effort over the years...lots, albeit these days I rarely seem to find time...might just go and give it a run out now! :-)
Hi, Deborah/Songsmirth. The old voice is struggling these days I'm afraid :-) To be honest, I think you either have it or you don't...and I don't! :-) You're right about the guitar; beautifully woods, beautifully made, lovely tone. I'm very lucky to own it.
You're wrong about that. I forgot to say the lovely feeling you express is a natural talent. I bet people can listen to you for hours. . . I could, seriously. It's the love of the song that's the thing! Happy New Year
your voice is so amazingly perfect ! honestly , it is so incredibly pretty. you are very gifted with your ability to play so beautifully, but only select few have a voice such as yours... amazing! :)
Hi, Lalalie23. Wow! What can I say? You're very kind. That's quite some accolade from you. Music is very subjective of course, and others would possibly have less complimentary opinions of my voice! All good fun though! :-)
ive always longed to play difficult acoustic classicals like don mclean's. nice playing there. hope i could borrow your fingers for a while or two, hehehe...
Subtle differences, that's all, Dan. It was great to hear someone else playing this tune. I arranged mine by ear, relentlessly playing and rewinding on an old tape recorder, but I notice we still pick almost identical notes...that's pleasing! :-)
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. You did a most wonderful job of performing it. Your voice is beautiful. I have to fight back the tears every time I hear this. Thank you so much for posting.

Thanks, Richieswift. As for the lyrics to Streets of London, I guess I've just 'let slip' over the years...call it artistic license...or perhaps just a bad memory! :-)

You sang/played Van Gogh with the feel of a man fishing near a lazy river. Surprises me this interpretation; cause Van Gogh always crashes over me.

A very learned and qualified opinion, I sure, robinhobb4. Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will sit in a boat, and drink beer all day.

This song was sang at a football/soccer ledgens of mine george best and think it was incredibly sang by yourself credit were credit is due amazing man well done....keep it up...

Cheers, Nicki. I saw Besty play once. He cheekily and openly handled the ball into the opponent's net (MU v Spurs). Nowadays you'd get red-carded!
Cheers.
