I prefer to pop up and do a reverse elvis going to, in this example, the right side and leading with the left knee.
I tried this last night with someone locking down my foot and I could also make him let go because I could put pressure on his foot. It seems to work good for me you just have to be careful and not let him get under you in X guard or something like that...get the underhook! That is pretty normal for all the half guard passes anyway.
nice pass it also helps to get the leg free if u take u fee leg and use it to apply pressure down on his leg
