With all of these disorders, occupations and riots I recently mentioned Enouch Powell to the County Supervisors out here in Calfornia and you should see them convulse and wither in agony! Blasphemy! Heresy!
Mr Das, I believe you went to the Fabian conference... so do you therefore agree with Mr Bernard Shaw (one of the leading Fabians of his day) that the working classes are too stupid think for themselves, and therefore democracy should be subverted? Do you advocate eugenics as Shaw did?
Hannan has publicly said he disagrees with Powell's views on race.
I'm American, and the only things I've ever heard about Powell is the racist stuff, so I have no idea what he was like on other issues. I do know you can't automatically dismiss someone's opinion about something simply because he's wrong about something else. I wish there was more of the interview here, so I could know what it was he likes about Powell.
Enoch Powell was a formidable intellect within the Tory Party who is said to have influenced Thatcherism and Monetarism. He was a fierce supporter of capitalism and of the minimalist state. He was also a bit of a romantic, who despaired the loss of the British Empire and with it Britishness.
@kittyprydekissme Powell was not racist, he merely foresaw the inevitable consequence of high immigration, needless to say the loss of national identity, cohesion and internal strife. He also put some value on the survival of the indigenous British people. In all of these things he has been proven to be correct. On current demographic trends by 2050 less than half of the people in these once blessed isles will be descended from post WW2 immigrants, it is the death of a once great nation.
@kittyprydekissme We are looking at a level of cultural and ethnic replacement not seen since the Anglo-Saxons came to England in the 5th century, and even then recent DNA studies would suggest that they replaced as little as 5% of the population, to so carelessly and with the conivance of both politcal parties without the consent of the British people to throw away thousands of years of history and culture for the simple expedient of assuaging imperial guilt is a crime of the greatest degree.
@kittyprydekissme He wasn't wrong about anything, it would seem. He tried to save this country, but was stopped. Now look at us, we're a bunch of softy, brainwashed sheep.
Powell was a brilliant man, whenever he made a speech in the house of common every MP would join the chamber to listen.
he was a professor at 26, and spoke 12 languages. If only he had been prime minister our country would be a better more prosperous place than it is today
Basically no. 'Originally British' was not a phrase he used and nor was the repatriation of 'all' on of his policies.
He did however advocate the making available of repatriation with incentives. Even if one did disagree with him however, my point was that the idea of him or even worse, supporting him being evil is just plain stupid. Also it has been entirely unhelpful in the race debate. Something which is unfortunately heating up.

Whilst my ideology differs in many respects with Enoch Powell's, I maintain that his most famous speech was both factually accurate and prophetic.

Powell = evil is not the argument
It is ignorant knuckle draggers who use Powell as their excuse to be racist fuckwits that are the problem

If you actually look at Enochs speech...everything he said came true about immigration numbers

WHY DIDNT YOU SHOW HIS WHOLE COMMENT?

The nonsense of the race debate has meant serious discussion has been long impossible.
Powell was clearly and undeniably a brilliant man. Argue his points by all means. But this liking Powell = evil argument is ignorant.

@OneBigRetard I know Powell was a smart man, but didn't he advocate repatriation of all those who weren't originally British?
