I agree. I've owned a number of motorcycles and now scooters. I also belong to a couple scooter clubs. The wheel size is very important. I notice a drastic change in performance and the handling of bumps/pot-holes when down sizing the wheels. The larger the diameter of the wheel, the better the ride/handling..
@rstevewarmorycom i go from a scooter to a motorcycle and immediately notice how much harder it is to toss around..
I guess i just got too used to the instability of my malaguti scoot :) The bike feels like it is trying to keep me from tipping (which yes i realized they are supposed to do), and i just cant go from side to side nearly as easliy.
I ride big bikes, last week i wrecked my FZ1 s ( Yamaha 1000cc ) so the wife n I think one of these or a Burgman 650 will slow me down a bit, so they aint for homos or cripples ! The silverwing I took for a test ride today and it was great except the saddle was a little short for me, felt like i was perched on the end. Going to look at a 650 Burgman exec today, check out the acceleration or overtaking vids on here to see how fast they go.
@supremo502 Scooters are for people that have had back surgery and knee surgery? I have a 250 and I can ride again it is light weight powerful enough to drag my 350 lb body around with ease. It is an 85 honda elite that I have 1,200 invested in it I got a parts bike in the deal so I did ok. I use to be a very strong man after a tornado wrecked my body leaving me with a back filled with titanium and stainless steel I am glad I have a bike that I can handle with ease and not shifting is great.
These things are awesome. I've never ridden a motorcycle or scooter in my life (only bicycles) but my grandmother didn't want hers anymore and dropped it off with my dad (she doesn't ride it, it was her hubby's but he passed away) and just told him and my uncle to share it lol. I just took it for a spin today, thought I'd get nervous seeing as I've never been on a motorized cycle before but it was great! I'm not licensed so stuck to my neighborhood but went around 20-30mph and it was a blast.
I haven't checked the CCs on it yet, I only know it's a 2001 model and it's red. Very comfortable and very smooth ride though, I kept telling myself "one more loop around the neighborhood then I'll bring it back in to the garage" but I just couldn't stop myself, drove circles for almost an hour probably. This thing is great, felt very stable and I just had a blast driving it.
My bad, I had just gotten the bike in from relative shortly before I posted my previous comments. It's actually a Honda Reflex (looks almost exactly the same as a Silverwing) but it tops out around 75-80mph I think, I've never driven it that fast though. Neat scooter still. =))
@DavidRosso 115mph wow, that's good for only a 600cc engine and a bike thats pretty heavy. I own a FES -Pantheon 125 can get around 75/80mph without pushing the engine to hard.
My SW600 is my first bike. I had no problem at all with it. Just hopped on and drove away. If you can ride a bicycle you can ride the Silverwing, provided you're ready for a 500 pound bicycle. I'm a big guy, so it doesn't seem large to me.
I don't know the top speed yet, have not had the chance to max it out on an open stretch of highway but had it up to 105mph already. I still had throttle left but ran out of safe road.

There's nothing wrong with the scooter design and profile,
except the wheel diameter. If the wheels are smaller than
a motorcycle you have less gyroscopic stability, and they
are more erratic to handle, not as forgiving at lower speed.
If they designed a motorcycle with a scooter profile I might be interested, but when you go from a motorcycle to a scooter
you notice their instability in comparison right away! That
all comes from wheel size. I wish they made recumbent
scooters with big wheels.

@dogmazx2 At higher speeds this is crucial, at lower speeds it
is merely annoying that you have to work so hard to steer a scooter.
A motorcycle can be ridden for half a block hands-off, though I
don't recommend it as a constant practice.

The silverwing is a 600cc. It'll do 110-115mph. They are fun, I don't have mine anymore, I've traded up to a sportbike motorcycle.

Great bike...I've upgraded from a Majesty 400cc and the twin cylinder engine is a blast to drive.
The bike is pretty heavy so its not for everyone!

good idea to get this as my second scoot? after my 50cc.

Its a great bike. If you're ready for the power and weight of it then yes. This was actually my first bike and I completely enjoy and love it.
DavidRosso 3 years ago
I have been told top speed is 113 mph, just 2 mph less than a Harley 1200 Sportster.
Also runs a 13.7 second quarter mile @ 96 mph.
OldSloppy 3 years ago
I actually had it up to 110mph (indicated), have not had the chance to verifiy this speed with gps or anything else.
DavidRosso 3 years ago
Hi there, i was wondering since this is an automatic scooter can it actually be changed to Neutral gear so you can rev it without moving?
Judaspriest1992 3 years ago
Nope. No neutral. It can be reved oh so slightly without it moving, the cvt starts to engage when the rpm's get just over 1000 I believe.
DavidRosso 3 years ago
600cc might as well get a freakin' motorcycle.
