  • there are sevral D-series DOHC engine like: D16A1, D16A3, D16A8, D16A9, D16Z5 an the ZC engine. See it fot your self at wikipedia.

    My 91 CRX have the D16Z5, most of the european CRX are D16 DOHC.

  • well, engine size doesnt matter, its all in what you have done and how you tune it. theres a 1980's model honda crx that beats lamborghinis, if you really knew a thing or two about cars/motors you wouldnt think a 5.7l is any better than a 1.6l or 2.0l. what do you have done to your c10 or whatever it is, if it runs high 15s. plus weight is a huge factor, these are very light, also awd, rwd, and fwd, alll play an important role. typically awd 's are first off the line.

  • Yes, its a D16 off of an older Integra. 87-89 integra comes with the d16. ZC also come in both single and dual overhead form. Vtec model was introduce back in 88-89. Only avilable only in Japan, soon in 1992 was introduce into the USA in the 92-93 Acura Integra GSR model. JDM CRX comes either a B16 or ZC as well as the JDM Integra. That is why Civic and Integra are interchangable.

  • nice little zc. i find them pointless to have a d series dohc with almost the same output as the sohc. but they are nice little motors. you build them right and they have the potential to have 600bhp and at least 300 ft lbs. but if you want a dohc go with b series gsr or a type r. much faster dohc

My friend told me I should go for a D16A6, and another one said the A8 or A9. What is better?

  • Yeah, I've got a few sick highways and backroads for cornering, but one of my favorite is a 30km/h(18 miles an hour) highway entrance, its a 270 degree, perfectly circular uphill xD theres also a HUGE section of highway thats just STRAIGHT, like, if you have perfect alignment you could fall asleep and not hit anything for miles xD so thats sick to rally down

  • I love it! I own two CRXs myself. One I keep stored while I drive my 95 del sol 600 miles/week. The other one I totaled and am parting out.. but meh I still love em.

    The bad part is, the del sol is 6 years newer, cost twice as much (70k original miles), has more money spent on it, but I prefer my crx any day of the week.

  • Jpanime13 - Yes there are SOHC D series, there's the D16Y etc, there are big difference's between European, Australian, USDM and Jap Spec.

    Australian delivered CRX's all came with DOHC's D16A's, there are non over here that have SOHC, however in the US it's the otherway around with more SOHC's.

  • Did you not read what i wrote jjep? I said the D16A8 came in the Australian delivered model CRX's, so a base model. You are correct the ZC came to Australia as an import JDM Si, which in Australia labels them as an EF, not an ED which is not stamped as a ZC.

  • this engine is jdm d16a7 zc and it cost like 800+ or something. its true some of the honda engine costs 600 but those are the d15 which is motor that only use for daily driving

  • And just so you dont all get confused, the ZC is almost identical in appearance the the D16A8, both are DOHC, so it's easy to get confused, but a ZC has more power over a D16A8.

The Australia delivered CRX's (called ED9) came stock with a D16A8 engine, (DOHC non-vtec), a lot of American CRX's came as the SOHC. And his engine is not a ZC, ZC's have slight stronger internals than the D16A8's. Honestly you tards need to do some research OUTSIDE of the USA.
