I guess, but converters and piston/vacumatic/everything else is more fun and allows for a greater variety of inks. You can, however, refill cartrides with bottled ink through syringes, which is what would probably have to happen if the grip were made out of wood.
I don't think that it would be all that wise to make a normal fountain pen out of wood, since the grip would probably get all inky from filling. Maybe if it had a plastic/metal/rubber grip... otherwise cartridges would have to be filled with syringes to avoid ink stains on the wood.

shit, sorry for my language but ive been waiting 6 freaking months for a fountain pen making video and your making a normal pen
although i loved ban saw and drill press your using to make it i used all those and was taught safety and proper use on those there really nice tools
