Absolutely gorgeous, words just get in the way when trying to describe how great this is, would love to hear Roy Harper sing this. If you get the chance to check out her best of "loving takes this course" please do, one disc of covers by the likes of Devandra banhart, Bill Callahan and Josephine Foster and the second disc, the songs of Kath Bloom. Breathtaking stuff!
Though her voice is far from flawless, it matches perfectly to the content--the emotions she's expressing. It's art through and through, and genuinely beautiful.
Ah... beautiful. Kath Bloom is a songwriting legend. A tribute album recently came out called Loving Takes This Course, 2 disc set, one of her singing her songs and one of current artists singing her songs. So worth it to find.
About the voice—its one of the most distinctive of our time. It has its own raw power, and if youve grown accustomed to highly processed top-forty fare, it might take a while to appreciate the real thing.
For many, however, its love at first hearing. Not because its flawless, but because this most open and feminine and ethereal of voices dares to express so much of the range of human emotion. There are no safety nets here.
Give Blooms music a close listen; it wont disappoint.
Hey she was a more of a known singer in the early 70s. I think she was late 30ish back then so she's probably close to 70 now. Peoples voices start to go around their late 50s or early 60s. You can laugh at her but She was probably asked to perform in what clearly is a honor to some and a rare event as well.
If you haven't heard KB's Finally cd, search it out. The whole thing is rich with gems that you won't want to let go—from soulful love songs, to a glorious country forget-about-him ditty (which the Dixie Chicks would kill with!), to sin and redemption, dream and reality, and life and death. It never grows old—the more you listen, the more you want to hear. Great great stuff!
Exquisite song exquisitely performed! Once Kath warms up this song is a dream. There's no one like her. Thanks to Chapter for posting and thanks to Kath for this extraordinary music! Keep it coming, please!

Some of you guys are harsh, understandably so, she's getting on, and yes, she doesn't sound great at all in this video.
But, nonetheless, she HAS sang well, and recorded/written some truly ethereal and beautiful music. 'Come Here' being the most obvious example.
Before you judge, take some time to listen to the lady in her prime, you'll see her differently.
