Tuve la olportunidad de escuchar esta melodia en 1979 y realmente me gusto y hoy la volvi a escuchar, Que lindos recuerdos de esa epoca conservo. Gracias por la musica.
Great disco CLASSIC!!! How I yearn for those days again, when going dancing was the #1 activity most young people were planning for the weekend. It was a much simpler and innocent time when America was happy and dancing! I really miss my disco-clubbing/dancing days in NJ/NYC...a truly golden era that now lives on in the memories of those of us who were fortunate and privileged enough to be able to enjoy it! Disco then...disco now...DISCO FOREVERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
@Dancer810 When this song came out it sounded so avant garde and fresh, it energized people (though I bet pure rock fans didn't get it at all!). Think it inspired me to get my sideburns cut short (Fall '76 ?). Remember, say, a green army jacket (Army/Navy store) over a plaid gauze shirt (Chess King) and straight leg jeans tucked into Frye boots - mine were fake, couldn't afford Frye. (never understood polyester - was a little puzzled by Saturday Night Fever's guys' clothing....)
@radamik Well, SNF was a movie after all, and Hollywood tends to do its own thing to portray a movie the way they want to portray it, and in this case the clothes were part of it. Even when J. Travolta danced with the girls, the dancing style was not the actual one you'd see in the typical NYC disco; it was definitely NOT the hustle, and I know because I'm a hustle dancer and nobody can fool me. SNF was just another "Hollywood fabrication".
@Dancer810 Agree with your comments about SNF - Hollywood can (and often does) distort any aspect of American culture. But isn't it ironic (and annoying) that well over 3 decades laler, SNF is considered THE definitive characterization of 70's disco, as if there was nothing more to add to the subject. Compared to what my friends and I experienced, that movie was an aberration, not a representation of the era.
have u ever heard of a song it got the lyrics in it we like it we love it everybodys getting down i dont know who made it but iam looking for that i dont known if thats the name of it or not made in the late 70s or early 80 help please phil12534@yahoo.com
grew up with corey the lead singer. her father owned the corner candy store on a 137st and cypress ave in the south bronx. her mother i believe was angie. long time ago. who knew?
Love this song, reminds me of Savannah like sunsets, humid as heck, like what I would imagine to be like in Savannah Georgia, but for me it was Veracruz Mexico, as a child, sorta' melancholic kind of way, I was 15 when this song came out thought and still think what a jam'...summer in Hollywood growing up. Simply beautiful music, what a privilege to have been around when this great tune came out, a more, less complicated time.
Damn Chris my ex for stealing this album from me. I doubt I can ever get another copy.
