@londonrunners1 5 min mile is equivalent to about 2:48 for the marathon. That said, it depends on your training and background. For many HS kids, especially guys with decent wheels (sub 55 400m) running 5 is much easier because they just don't have the mileage background and aerobic strength for the marathon.

@LMaster1 a 5:00 min/mile is equivalent to a 2:11 marathon. A 2:48 marathon is more in line with a 6:25 min/minute pace...
