I was so happy when they chose him in round 2 last year when Rey M. was still on the board as well. I've loved watching this guy play since he first started at Ohio St.

First of all, FUCK Ohio State. I'm a current 'SC student, and was pissed when we(I'm a Rams fan) passed on Rey for Laurinaitis. In retrospect, Rey doesn't even play MLB anyone because he couldn't learn the plays, Laurinaitis led all rookies in pretty much every linebacker related stat, and Rey just got a DUI last week and who knows if he'll ever be an MLB. This decision went pretty well for my Rams. Clay and Cush did great, but I think JL is better because he put up the numbers w/o support.

Dude, I'm a current 'SC Trojan. Laurinaitis is above and beyond Rey. I'M fucking telling you this as an 'SC Trojan. While he's getting DUIs, JL is leading a Defense and ending 4th in the league in total tackles. It's not even close.
@sharkr0bby Being a USC student/fan doesn't mean you can't be objective. Laurinaitis had a much better rookie performance than Rey Maualuga. Just because the Bengal defense was better doesn't mean he played better than JL. There is SO much more talent on the Bengal roster on the defensive side than the Rams have. Rey was moved to outside linebacker because he couldn't grasp the playbook, and he was often used as a pass-rusher to simplify the game for him...
@sharkr0bby JL on the other hand had to learn, and command one of the more complicated defensive schemes in football. Make no mistake, the only thing keeping this defense from being great is a better interior pass rush and an outside linebacker to flank Laurinaitis. JL was asked to do more, produced more, and is already the leader of a young but talented group. Rey M. cannot say the same. I'm pulling for him, but he's fighting through personal issues and I'm not sure he can ever play Mike LB.
