Actually this is Randy singing lead. On this album, wich only had 8 songs, Randy sings lead on this and another song titled One More Chance. The only song Jackie sings lead on on the album is a stand out track called Wait, wich is the 2nd song on the there. If you don't have this album you should. It sold around 2 million back in '84 but prob should have sold way more but Thriller was still selling like hot cakes.

The only reason why this lp went 4X platnium is because this was 1984, and people would get their hands on any lp that has Michael (thinking he is on most of the tracks which is not true). I think Triumph and Destiny was a much better lp because of the dominant input of Michael, but all the other brothers get their shine on!! I only dig half the tracks on Victory (I know I've been too hard on this lp, but I think it could have done better).

Ok, thinking about the dominant input on Michael seems unfair, but the music arrangements and songs on Destiny and Triumph were much much better and the later yielded more hits. I felt that compared to Victory, Triumph was'nt promoted enough (despite of the tour), mainly because it only had one music video, "Can You Feel It." "This Place Hotel" and "Lovely One" both reached #2 on the R&B charts and were top 20 pop singles, but were under promoted.

I have the original album and there's no "This Place Hotel". The original Jacksons Live album also has Heartbreak Hotel as the title. I have no idea of why the title was changed when the album was later released on CD, (supposedly to prevent confusion with Elvis Presley's song). Whitney Houston has a song called Heartbreak Hotel and she didn't change the title.

Look at the credits on the album: it is Randy singing lead, not Jackie. Plus Jermaine and Michael are credited with singing backup along with the rest of them. Not sure if that's true, but I think I can hear Jermaine in the chorus. If you want to hear Jackie, put on track two "Wait" or find his solo album "Be The One."

Michael feared overexposure so he limited his videos to his number 1 hits (Beat It and Billie Jean) and Thriller (although it wasnt #1, the last single for the lp was ready for its release). As for Victory, the Jacksons had a big fall out with each other with the Victory Tour and all so thats why that lp only yielded two videos of which Jermaine and Michael were a no show in.
