the recorded version is different in voice quality. no match. maybe this is not the original version. or i have a digitally improved version :P dont listen to the original one before listening to this. you wont like this.
Her rich voice is lovely, but the tone of the voice could be brighter. Not saying it should be lighter but if it was brighter it would bring a more youthful feel to the song as after all, this is a youthful song. The song is about how excited a girl is about her first kiss. Was not too keen on the stooping and slides in the song, but overall a lovel performance and beautiful harpsichord playing. :)
Ok, it's a little schmaltzy, but I actually like the color of her voice. Baroque music is not for light voices only. People living in 1600 had the same vocal equipment they have now...if you had a rich voice, you had a rich voice. No one has a recording from 1600. Stylistically, it may be a tad schmaltzy, but it's a suitable voice for this rep. I am a baroque singer and happen to have a light voice, but there are many colors in the rainbow. Not every baroque voice has to sound like Emma Kirkby.
It *is* a lovely voice, but I think what strikes me most is it seems utterly devoid of emotion ... purely technical.

she is trying too hard to sing. look at her chest from 1:07 mins. it changes shape so much as she breathes. funny.
as if pumping air in and out of it. weird and creepy :S

No, lol that 'sweeter' wasn't sweeter at all! Beautiful voice but not really for this song.

Umm, beautiful voice, amazing playing. But not a voice for this delicate early song, really sorry, no offence intended.

I agree, it's supposed to have a very pure light sound.
