So most likely he was using his "Chris" voice for Sonic in the show.

I don't think the thumbs downs have anything to do with your Sonic voice. I think it has to do with the Griffith-bashing in the video. There are a lot of people who like Griffith's Sonic voice (believe it or not XD), and they probably got miffed.
The funny thing is, believe it or not, I really didn't intend the video to be seen as me bashing Jason Griffith. :P I just thought it would be funny if I made a video where Sonic himself weighs in on the Ryan vs. Jason debate (which is kind of a moot point now, heh..). Though in retrospect, a lot of the jokes were pretty mean-spirited. Then again, once Sonic Colors is released I may "address" Roger Craig Smith as well. XD

Thing is, while I could try to voice the other male characters by myself, I'd hit a brick wall when it comes to Sally, Nicole, Bunny, et al, since I don't know any voice actresses. :(

Your last few comments have made me actually consider whether or not I can make a SatAM abridged. At the very least, I'd like to do some sort of project with SatAM Sonic. Maybe SatAM Sonic vs. Ryan Drummond? :)
The only time in the more recent games (06 isn't exactly 'recent' anymore) that I thought Griffith could have done better is when he said "If you'd play nice, I wouldn't have to break all of your toys." Sonic's Japanese voice actor had much more emotion in that line than Griffith. Other than that he's been pretty great in my opinion.
@SonicVSJasonGriffith Isn't it in San Francisco? I've seen a large building with SEGA on it while on the freeway, I read that San Francisco was the inspiration for City Escape in Sonic adventure 2, and the adress listed on Shadow the Hedgehog says San Francisco.
You got me one that one. SOA is in San Francisco. BUT 4Kids, who actually handles all of the voice acting in Sonic games these days, in the New York, and Ryan Drummond would have to move. He was actually willing to move his entire family to New York, but 4Kids thought it would be too much of a hassle and decided to use Griffith instead, who already worked for them.

I don't know if it's true, but it's still rumored that he actually is reappearing in sonic 4. I'm gonna say, that's a pretty good Sonic voice you got there. But since 2006 next gen, you have to admit Griffith is getting better. He has upped his game, really. See, I like both Jason AND Ryan. They're both good at Sonic's voice. But if you get the spare time, give Sega a call and show them what you can do.
@TheChildofaura despite my earlier comment, I agree griffith has gotten better. I think the best quote griffith has done that matches Ryan's voice is "Sonic's My name, Speeds my game". Every time I hear that one I think of ryan. the one quote that he STILL can't do, though, is "Too easy, piece of cake" Ryan just said it in a far cooler way. Another is the "Yaho!" and "Yes!" and "Yeeaaah!" quotes. Jason just sounds childish, while Ryan, again, sounds cooler. that's just my opinion though.

That is very true. But if you think about it, not even Ryan was Sonic's original voice. There was the old Sonic Cartoon, remember that? (That was awesome, better than Sonic X) and I believe that the actor who played Steve Urkel in Family Matters was Sonic. But yes, Ryan is the more popular voice actor, but I wish people wouldn't HATE Griffith. Jason has done many other roles besides Sonic and Shadow, like Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh, and he's pretty well fit for those roles, like Sir Aaron and Marcus.

It's called "Into the Wind". It was made by a band called "Sons of Angels", which was what Crush 40 called themselves before they made the music for Sonic Adventure. I seriously don't care, and I've had no problems with Griffith, but maybe you could shut everyone up. Or cause more of an uproar because you're not Ryan Drummond.
According to IMDB, Griffith's first acting role was in 1998. That's a full seven years before he first voiced Sonic--plenty of time to learn how to not deliver awkward lines line "I can do a lot of things". It's not like he's gotten that much better, even, because I've seen several videos making fun of his voice work in Smash Brothers Brawl. And Drummond's early work? If you're referring to SA, well...I didn't hear many Sonic fans complaining then, and I don't hear any now.
The reason it took so long for him to get better as Sonic is because he is still stuck with the worst dubbing company; 4kids. Jason was better in Unleashed than he was in Brawl.
Ryan wasn't that geat in SA1. The reason there is almost no complaing is because Ryan was kind of above meh in that game.
Girffith didn't start Sonic untilSonic X started, giving him no time to not deliver awkward lines like "I can do a lot of things", but got gradually better over time, to deliver great lines like "It was never about chivalry for me" and "Do I need a reason to help out a friend".
If you haven't heard people complain about Sonic Adventure, you haven't looked hard.
i like both voice actors but i understand both sides. Ryan's side thinks that Jason sucks eggs. Jason's side thinks that he does AWSOME. My side is that i enjoy both they each give sonic a different personaly or hedgeonaly but bombing one and not comparing ether isn't right. Sure Jason made Sonic's laugh sound retarded but have we ever had Sonic laugh in a game before i don't think so. I appreciate the comment, but the scary truth is that 1:32 I really did not alter the pitch of Sonic's voice. Really, you can look up the clip on Youtube for yourself, Jason really did do that terrible...at first. He's gotten a lot better, but his voice is closer to Ryan's in Sonic Heroes, which I think most people find was inferior to his work in SA and SA2.
Because its the scar that will always remain, from GRIFFTHS earlier recordings. Drummond is still so much better we are all hopeing for his return in Project Needlemouse

I'm no of 4kids. I'm a fan of most of their Sonic actors. I've seen 4kids dubbed shows and they lack serious effort for the most part. I know voicing in a video game takes more work, more time, and is more serious than voicing a children's anime which is why I like actors like Jason Griffith and Dan Green now because I think they prooved they take their job more seriously now than before and when doing Sonic X. If u worked for 4kids, maybe u could show them how voice acting really should be LOL

Thanks! I don't think I have the video editing skills needed to make an "abridged" version of SatAM, but I'd love to try! Thing is, while I could try to voice the other male characters by myself, I'd hit a brick wall when it comes to Sally, Nicole, Bunny, et al, since I don't know any voice actresses. :(
But I'm always hoping some Sonic fan in need a Sonic voice for a game/movie project will see this movie and drop me a line!

The only time in the more recent games (06 isn't exactly 'recent' anymore) that I thought Griffith could have done better is when he said "If you'd play nice, I wouldn't have to break all of your toys." Sonic's Japanese voice actor had much more emotion in that line than Griffith. Other than that he's been pretty great in my opinion.

You got me one that one. SOA is in San Francisco. BUT 4Kids, who actually handles all of the voice acting in Sonic games these days, in the New York, and Ryan Drummond would have to move. He was actually willing to move his entire family to New York, but 4Kids thought it would be too much of a hassle and decided to use Griffith instead, who already worked for them.

THANK YOU! awesome video. and yeah, ryan is still trying everything to get back to being sonic's voice actor. I don't know if it's true, but it's still rumored that he actually is reappearing in sonic 4. Personally, I think jason is ok... but no one can beat Ryan's voice... well, you do pretty damn good as well. Kikosho is right. You should take over if ryan still can't come back.

I'm gonna say, that's a pretty good Sonic voice you got there. But since 2006 next gen, you have to admit Griffith is getting better. He has upped his game, really. See, I like both Jason AND Ryan. They're both good at Sonic's voice. But if you get the spare time, give Sega a call and show them what you can do.

@TheChildofaura despite my earlier comment, I agree griffith has gotten better. I think the best quote griffith has done that matches Ryan's voice is "Sonic's My name, Speeds my game". Every time I hear that one I think of ryan. the one quote that he STILL can't do, though, is "Too easy, piece of cake" Ryan just said it in a far cooler way. Another is the "Yaho!" and "Yes!" and "Yeeaaah!" quotes. Jason just sounds childish, while Ryan, again, sounds cooler. that's just my opinion though.

but what if Jason had first started voice acting Sonic, then he was replaced by Ryan? Everyone would be ticked off about Jason being replaced. In truth and reality, it's just that people are so comfortable hearing the original voice of Sonic, that they think first is better.

@TheChildofaura to tell the truth I never really thought of that, and you are indeed correct. It all depends on who you're used to. It's the same for a few years from now. If Ryan never comes back, then children will start playing Sonic games with Jason's voice, then, as they progress through the series, they'll head back to the classics and say "Who's this new voice? I don't like him." The truth of this video, however, is that people still want Ryan, not jason. Majority rules to state it simply

That is very true. But if you think about it, not even Ryan was Sonic's original voice. There was the old Sonic Cartoon, remember that? (That was awesome, better than Sonic X) and I believe that the actor who played Steve Urkel in Family Matters was Sonic. But yes, Ryan is the more popular voice actor, but I wish people wouldn't HATE Griffith. Jason has done many other roles besides Sonic and Shadow, like Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh, and he's pretty well fit for those roles, like Sir Aaron and Marcus.

It's called "Into the Wind". It was made by a band called "Sons of Angels", which was what Crush 40 called themselves before they made the music for Sonic Adventure. It was written for the NASCAR Arcade soundtrack, but it sounds so much like a Sonic Adventure song that I decided to use it here. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you liked the video! XD

According to IMDB, Griffith's first acting role was in 1998. That's a full seven years before he first voiced Sonic--plenty of time to learn how to not deliver awkward lines line "I can do a lot of things". It's not like he's gotten that much better, even, because I've seen several videos making fun of his voice work in Smash Brothers Brawl. And Drummond's early work? If you're referring to SA, well...I didn't hear many Sonic fans complaining then, and I don't hear any now.

The reason it took so long for him to get better as Sonic is because he is still stuck with the worst dubbing company; 4kids. Jason was better in Unleashed than he was in Brawl.
Ryan wasn't that geat in SA1. The reason there is almost no complaing is because Ryan was kind of above meh in that game.

Girffith didn't start Sonic untilSonic X started, giving him no time to not deliver awkward lines like "I can do a lot of things", but got gradually better over time, to deliver great lines like "It was never about chivalry for me" and "Do I need a reason to help out a friend".
If you haven't heard people complain about Sonic Adventure, you haven't looked hard.

i like both voice actors but i understand both sides. Ryan's side thinks that Jason sucks eggs. Jason's side thinks that he does AWSOME. My side is that i enjoy both they each give sonic a different personaly or hedgeonaly but bombing one and not comparing ether isn't right. Sure Jason made Sonic's laugh sound retarded but have we ever had Sonic laugh in a game before i don't think so. Ryan made Sonic's voice a little high at times like in Sonic Heros btw 1:32 u changed the pitch of sonics voice

I appreciate the comment, but the scary truth is that 1:32 I really did not alter the pitch of Sonic's voice. Really, you can look up the clip on Youtube for yourself, Jason really did do that terrible...at first. He's gotten a lot better, but his voice is closer to Ryan's in Sonic Heroes, which I think most people find was inferior to his work in SA and SA2.

I don't hate Jason Griffith as Sonic. In fact, I'm glad he's Sonic. Yea I didn't like him in Sonic next gen and Sonic Riders but in the more recent games after that, he's really good but as for you. I gotta admit that you sound amazing as Sonic. If Jason gets fired or resigns for any reason, u should take over.

I'm no of 4kids. I'm a fan of most of their Sonic actors. I've seen 4kids dubbed shows and they lack serious effort for the most part. I know voicing in a video game takes more work, more time, and is more serious than voicing a children's anime which is why I like actors like Jason Griffith and Dan Green now because I think they prooved they take their job more seriously now than before and when doing Sonic X. If u worked for 4kids, maybe u could show them how voice acting really should be LOL

Thanks, man! I'm not someone who has a lot of confidence in my voice acting ability. Frankly, I get nervous when I attempt to peform character voices, even when I'm in a room recording by myself! However, it's feedback like yours that makes all the difference and encourages me to keep on practicing and work on new video ideas.
