They did make huge losses though and there were many reasons for that. 2 weeks before the losses were announced though, Fred made a statement saying that things were great at the bank, that there were no problems and that RBS had negligible involvements with all the toxic debt. He is a liar and in the true sense of the word he is also a thief.

I worked for the Bank and most of us saw the collapse coming. RBS bought NatWest (a failing bank at the time) and then adopted NatWest methods. Then it bought ABN Amro because it was "cheap because although they are everywhere, they are not good at getting things done" and we gave their top guy the job of getting things done for the whole group.

Generally I don't condone vigilantism but in Goodwin's case I make an exception. The arrogance of certain bankers (there are a handful of reasonable ones) has gone on for far too long. Politicians face scrutiny, celebrities face scrutiny. Why should bankers making a trillion pounds a second escape scrutiny?
