vandals? maybe just angry taxpayers.Lets not forget Fred just single handely wrecked the entire British economy on his own. I think a few broken panes of glass pale into insigificance in comparison.
This is THE story of our times. A megalomaniacal, psychopathic banker, addicted to the rush of making 'killings' on the market. Hiding the truth of overextending his bank from the (greedy) shareholders in order to gain the title of the 'fastest expanding' is one hell of a SICKENING tale. The people are on to you 'sir ' freddy. All now partly pay for your grossly incompetant and therefore criminal stewardship of 'YOUR' bank
@LoneRookRS1 That's not a very nice thing to say! No-one ever complained when he was making load of money for his shareholders. It's the people that are greedy, not people like Sir Fred.
@MrCityboy1968 He cost the bank tens of billions because his board of yes-men let him do it, and then took a lavish pension, while the taxpayers paid for the damage he caused. He's no longer "sir" anymore, he's simply Fred. The people took that undeserved honour away from that piece of shit.
@LoneRookRS1 I disagree. You can't blame one person for supposedly bringing down a bank. It is only right that Sir Fred was well paid. He was the boss of a bank after all. You can't expect him to get by on peanuts. In any case RBS still exists. As far as the law goes he caused no crime.
@MrCityboy1968 Well, you are clearly an apologist for a system where wealth is horribly recycled amongst an elite who grasshop between institutions, as shown in your defence for a man who cost a bank over £24 billion and millions in personal throwaway spending. Sadly there are enough people like you to defend these people, who are a result of giving too much power to the banking sector, and could be replaced by hard-working managing directors for a fraction of the price.
@LoneRookRS1 Even the wealthy need to be defended you know. They are people too after all. It shouldn't be forgotten that he turned RBS into a power house before the crash - a crash brought about by ordinary peoples greed. I don't recall anyone complaining about Sr Fred successes at RBS.
@MrCityboy1968 Aww yeah, let's feel sorry for wealthy people and their lavish bonuses from tax-payer funded institutions that are leaking billions in annual losses. Just because you do things successfully, doesn't mean you can take over a failing dutch bank and lose 24 billion because of expansionism and greed. If you think I should pity a horrid, ghastly little fat cat, who destroyed his bank whilst cheating on his wife and shooting elk with his rich chums, you are mistaken.
@LoneRookRS1 Whatever you believe, Sir Fred is a human being. I don't really know whether he had an affair - and neither do you. Nor did he personally lose £24 billion. Yes, I do pity Sir Fred. Gordon Brown made him a scapegoat for his Governments failings.
@MrCityboy1968 He isn't "Sir" Fred anymore. Well, maybe in your mind, since you seem to think these people are almost heroic. Pathetic really. Find better role models.
These guys need to have another go now we know 'sir' fred is not only incompetent but also can't keep his dick in his pants. Guys like this shouldn't be allowed anywhere near power.
@ anyone who hates todays government you should know they are trying to clear Britains debt crisis that Labour left. Blair and Brown fucked up the country more than Goodwins unbelievably bad banking
@jaguarclaw. He should have told the truth. Unless of course you can think of a way of hiding a multi-billion pound loss? He was doing much the same thing as Nick Leeson did at Bering's. Fred lied to shareholders, lied to 'the city' and to his staff. I am appalled that anyone could show sympathy for his actions.
@jaguarclaw. They didn't go bust. They did make huge losses though and there were many reasons for that. 2 weeks before the losses were announced though, Fred made a statement saying that things were great at the bank, that there were no problems and that RBS had negligible involvements with all the toxic debt. He is a liar and in the true sense of the word he is also a thief.
The homeless should occupy the place. Rather have it sheltering people than stood empty and looking nice, we paid for it. The cunt is living abroad anyway, on our money.
Goodwin and that other shit-for-brains Tom McKillop did more damage to this country than Hitler or Goeballs could ever dream of doing. I hope he dies a slow agonising death. And McKillop gets bummed in prison.
We link this about fraud, RBS together with BSCH: more to be found here: ref2882.web-log.nl/blog/ this new fraud not the ones already know, it's taxmoney Mr. S.H. from RBS and Mr. J. K. former RBS(RD Europe)BV now with BSCH, Banco Santander that is. More than millions!
Fred Goodwin got his knighthood for his services to Banking.
Now, that sounds as mental as knighting Dr Shipman for his services to medicine.
I worked for the Bank and most of us saw the collapse coming. RBS bought NatWest (a failing bank at the time) and then adopted NatWest methods. Then it bought ABN Amro because it was "cheap because although they are everywhere, they are not good at getting things done" and we gave their top guy the job of getting things done for the whole group.
Gordon wouldn't have said that if it had been anyone else. The truth is Gordon like most mainstream politicians fear scum like Goodwin because of the huge power they have. It would be interesting to see how fast Lothian Police respond to people who aren't super-wealthy bankers.
Generally I don't condone vigilantism but in Goodwin's case I make an exception. The arrogance of certain bankers (there are a handful of reasonable ones) has gone on for far too long. Politicians face scrutiny, celebrities face scrutiny. Why should bankers making a trillion pounds a second escape scrutiny? As far as im concerned this lowlife should be given a hostile reception every time he enters this country- he is traitor and should be treated as such.
You call him on a first name basis as if he is a drinking buddy. Sure, he wasn't the only one but to take such a huge bonus is utterly reprehensible at this time. Public anger is understandable. No im not an economic expert and I find the tabloid press just as vile as him but the injustice here is obvious.
We are also angry at the obsurd and greedy pension he got. Even if he didnt single handedly bring down the world banking system he did a pretty good job of bringing down rbs.
It seems there has only been one major banks that have done its very best to avoid this economic catastrophe ...
Lloyds TSB
and even they have had to take on some debt that the Government forced them to take after the other banks collapsed.
Hahaha, "there is no excuse for anyone breaking the law"...what a fugging joke! What does that asshol think people are idiots? This banker is a law breaker, low and behold, he finally recieves a small portion of what he has comming to him. Crooks, the lot of em. Im not one to advocate violence, justice needs to be served to these bankers one way or another. The people of the world are FED up!
hes a fucking prick, he decides he wants to leave his job in style so he takes a massive shit on the economy before he goes and gets paid for it. this wanker should be shot
ive read shit about freddies payout being trivial and also him being used as a scapegoat. maybe true, but there are loads of "freds" all taking liberties.they should all be hounded!! i really hope that cunt gets kicked to death!!!
I feel absolutely no sorrow for a person whom is so hard faced and avaricious before a society that must bare the brunt of a person whom was handsomely rewarded for failure. Think of all the people who have lost their jobs, their homes repossessed by the RBS, people who are being hounded by the RBS to pay off the loans they cannot afford - people who will never be bailed out. Lets send the Debt Collection Agencies to the RBS. Well, they do owe 24 billion pounds to the people, don't they?
