I don't know why people would follow that over just the Scriptures, but I have argued a different point. Early christians were massacred to death. e.g.: Nero used to dress them up in animal hide and toss them in a pit with lions for public sport if they didnt renounce Christ. joseph smith didnt suffer that, muslims didnt suffer that, etc.

He was quoting from Gen 3:15 where it was prophecied that our Lord Jesus Christ will crush the head of Satan. Our Lord disarmed the enemies of the power of death and shamed them publicly with his triumphant victory at the cross.

In hebrew term, a "head" symbolizes authority. And when Jesus crushed the head of the serpent, he stripped it of its authority and the reign of sin and death has now no claim over those who have faith in Christ Jesus. Isn't epic?
