Daniel it's about time you did, you'll learn a lot bout yourself and the audience, quite something else than this digital happening (which is also nice of course )
Daniel, you're the one who's in control when you're playing alone ,no-one there telling you what you have to play, you decide for yourself,if they don't like, hand them your guitar and say,try doing this yourself ,greets Vic.
Daniel, yeah you're talking requests,I know what you mean, plus the fact that some people think you know any song by Heart and an instant arrangement, here comes Daniel the Jubox, lol, just kidding,Vic.
it's wonderful how samba speaks by itself it's like ou can hear the words from the guitar, but it is also sad that here in Brazil the greatest players don't get the recognition they deserve. Anyway, I hope you keep on spreading wonderful music through the internet and every possible media, great job Vic 5*
Shadomal,it's true what you say, relatively Baden Powell was only well known under Musicians, a terrific player, people have to start listening more seriously, when will that happen? greets Vic.
Thanks Mel, I once studied a book from Brazilian guitarist, Nelson Faria with great Bossa and Samba examples, kinda incorporated this feel in this Tune, glad you enjoyed the outcome,gr Vic.
After listening to the first seconds i thought "wow, there is a strong latin feeling in his playing", but then i read the description and i understanded why.
Is great to hear this classic played in a different style. thanks for sharing, i enjoyed this very much.
Thanks Roberto, it's true what you say, for many years I've lived in Curacao (Netherlands Antilles) where I heard so many different latin styles,of course this influences my musical way of thinking. All the best, thanks for your visit,Vic.
Very nice arrangement ! Actually I'm in the process of putting together my own arrangement after watching videos of Per-Olov Kindren and HanzP. Will have my version soon on video. Anyway, 5**** for you my friend!
Thanks kchan9999 for dropping in and commenting, those guitarists you mention are good players, people who have something to say on their instruments. I like your arrangements as well, tasteful, musical and a good sound, greetings Vic.
Thanks Tony,I've been missing you man, seriously. You haven't posted for a while, brother I know that's no big deal, people get accustomed to free entertainment which is wrong,so I'd say only post when you actually have something to say, glad you dropped in brother,I'll be hearing from you,Vic.
Thanks looneyliina, I've done "while my guitar",look between my uploads and you'll find it. Yes the Art is: Letting it seem effortless, the difficulty exists only when one grabs a guitar and tries to play them, that will need serious practicing. Greets Vic.
A very beautiful arrangement as usual but the tune and your arrangement is unusual as well. The Beatles were very underrated in many ways as well as the input from George Martin, they could have been very sucessful in playing pop like all the other British bands but had so much more to give than that. You have captured that playfulness that so typified them. Great work!
Thanks Rich, always giving me top notch comments, really appreciate that. Listening to this fine tune I immediately recognized a sort of Samba feel to it, bass on 1 and 3 and syncopated melody against it(not so easy to play). Yes if you listen well to those guys they had a rich harmony and wonderful theme's going on,later bands like Blur and Oasis appeared but of course musically can't stand in their shadow. Their repertoire is un-doubtfully quite unique, especially their later work,Vic.
Very nice and smooth, Vic. That little flaw on the G#m is not worth mentioning. But whats worth mentioning is the modulation at 1:30. Is that part of the original? I haven't that in my ear. In any case it's great!!! Greetings, Jogi
Thanks Jogi, man I love the Beatles repertoire,of course as an old guy I grew up with them, but their themes and progressions are damn fine, good material to work with always.the modulation is original they did that too, going up a half step to Gm(add9). And that slightly out of tune chord has it's charm, I agree. greetings Vic.
Ah, great to hear. I must admit that I have a tendency to underestimate the harmonic power of their compositions! They knew what they do, wow. But now wonder it's YOU who makes me listen...
Jogi, as you might agree there's lots of good Music and lot's of Trash, never under-estimate the influence George Martin had as a Classical trained producer on the Beatles, this was immense, I think he molded their rough Ideas into beautiful progressions and forms and Mc-Cartney is one of the best bass men with his great use of chord-inversions up to this day, very creative indeed.People who say it's outdated simply aren't listening and understanding what's happening,Vic.
Good one, Vic! I have the same problem (bad intonation with Capo #2) with one of my guitars. Like the arrangement though. A Lennon - Mc Cartney samba! Greets, Wouter
Thanks Wouter, somehow the capo presses down the strings too hard and causes a friction in intonation, the higher you play the more it's audible, although the frets aren't very high on this guitar,a little surprise coming up with Bob for your birthday, but you probably heard about that already, greets Vic.
Very nice arrangement Victor . Great style and attitude . I like also the smooth transition into the modulation . It sounds very nice with a second fret
capo . Rather enjoyable piece Viktor ! Musical greetings , Igor
Dank,Sjaak, daar draait het helemaal om,controle van het Ritme, als dat niet goed is,sla je de plank volkomen mis, geld natuurlijk voor alle vormen van muziek,gr Vic.
Thanks Antonio, I've heard quite some versions but making my own versions is the most rewarding for me, than I can personally mold the tune to a personal thing, greets Vic.
Hi emamonti, so is Fernando Sor, probably much more,I love nostalgia and above all guys from whatever time in evolution who can compose a decent theme, greets Vic.
Joop, jij hebt het helemaal door,er zijn vele andere factoren die meespelen, ritme, harmonie, wat gebruik je als wisselbas etc, je bent een zeer goede musicus, groet Vic.
Hey VIC what a lovely tune, as the sun rays shine on you with the beauty of your music, it couldn't be better arrange by GOD, moreover, your arrangements are so beautiful as well. I am off to Las Vegas NM, to see some old and dear friends, I will try to borrow a PC to check on you Peace be with you my good friend.
A Samba with you my lady? You bet Sabine,I'll dance so much that your husband will get jealous and he'll start taking dancing lessons himself, lol. I'll be over in a minute and have a good listen, hug my lady,Vic.
but hey sometimes its really annoying when a string gives diferent pitches as you play up in the fretboard. I was almost no way to play any song using 1 string.
Yeah,Soulmony, on an electric guitar you can change the length of the strings and place them in perfect pitch, now I'm waiting on the first acoustic guitar without fixed length,so I can adjust the length myself, if none comes on the Market I'll go to a guitar-builder with these Ideas myself, lol, greets Vic.
You are even more anal about tune than I am, Vic. I agree that an out of tune guitar is the easiest way to make a respectible performance sound amateurish.\
That said, it didn't sound too bad to me. Had you not mentioned it, I wouldn't have even noticed it.
Ha ha Justin, there is a saying: mankind suffers more of his thoughts then the actual reality, that surely is the case here my friend, I'm to darn picky bout everything, thanks for setting me back on the ground,Vic.
Welcome Edwin, thanks I'm just like you always doing my best, sometimes I hear other players like Tommy Emanuel an Jan Akkerman (Dutch virtuoso) then I better remain a humble guy, Vic.
hi vic great and very interesting version of this classic tune, great idea this samba version, will ask my wife from brasil for dancing, lol, remembers me a little bit the concerts from bob dylan, he sometimes makes a reggaeversion from knocking on heavens door and changes his original songs total, 5 ****** and i send you for videoresponse my try long time ago in a normal fingerpicking version
Thanks Friedl, I see your wife dancing in-front the PC already, lol. Yeah Bob wrote some very nice tunes and he's still active. I heard some tracks from his new CD and they where very Bluesy I must say, nice. Send that video and I'll look at it. Glad you enjoyed my arrangement, this deserves a Jack Daniels Amigo, lol, greets Vic.
Welcome maestro Allen, these are first class comments which I cherish. The chord is a B13(7 and 9 included). I'm starting to get so much respect for Chet Atkins and Tommy Emanuel who both have the steady bass (on 1 and 3 in the beat) and placing a syncopated melody line against that. I see many guys imitating him but not placing their own imagination in the Music, that's what i like bout your playing you're doing your own thing. Thanks for favoring this tune, greets Vic.
Tommy's arrangements can be a real bitch sometimes.
I was learning "The Hunt". The runs are easy but there is one measure that drives me crazy. The top voice has dotted quarter notes. The base (or second) voice is played with straight eighth notes.
Thanks Allen, I,m sorry got back so late to your generous offer(the score) now I see you sent it to me, thanks I'll certainly look at it and check out measure 37. I was just looking at the Dutch virtuoso "Jan Akkerman" have heard him play, that guy is Far out man, both on acoustic and eletric, his color is purple and green mixed together,in other words you'd better close your eyes and listen.lol,Vic.
Thanks Jake, I looked very good at your Jazz education Vid in Spain, very thorough my friend you're an excellent player and teacher with great concepts, greets Vic.
What a joy this is to listen to! You are such a fine player -you pull out the melody so well yet maintain that great 2 in a bar bass line with great chord voicings in the middle.Very effective key change too and the rhythm is just sooo great! Bravo!!!
Thanks for your visit Colin, you're hearing everything my friend you're a good musician,I can tell right away after all these years of playing. The guitar is like the piano, an orchestral instrument, everything is lying at your finger-tops,rhythm,melody,harmony,all elements of Music. Greets Vic.
Well Vic I gave you 5 stars, but 40 other people beat me to it........ Great stuff. I keep making mistakes on my chord melody to record anything ! the longer I play the pickier i'm getting.
Thanks Dorian,I know what you mean, well I just play till I reach a point and I feel it's not going to get any better, than it's recording time. gr.Vic.
Thanks Rineke, you're right although it also has a melancholy touch the overall setting is bright and cheerful and of course you can always swing nicely to a light Samba groove, greets Vic.
What's there to be said that hasn't been said before? A beautiful rendition of a classic Beatles tune played with precision, fluidity and finesse. ***** and fav'ed.
Thanks Jeff for your thoughtful words, see you have some nice Classical stuff on your channel, will check it out soon. Are you busy with tunes yourself ?Greetings Vic.
Thank you Per for listening,it means a lot coming from a fantastic musician like you,for whom I have the greatest admiration, I know you've done quite some nice Beatles arrangements yourself. thanks for your visit, greetings Vic.
I like the capo and voicings, with the ability to play an alternating bass line and stay in the original key. The genius of Chet Atkins is the abilty to take complex arrangements, move them on the neck to facilitate the voicings in there simplest form. Well done, I enjoy your fingerstyle tunes.
Thanks Carl, yes Chet and the later Tommy Emanuel have great freedom between the alternating bass and at the same time syncopating melody and harmony, in the beginning quite difficult but I think it has become a second nature for them to think in this way, Vic.
Thanks junka22, glad to hear that man, for me it's the most interesting to do,just adding some Musical fantasy here and there, most rewarding, and it's falling in good soil,I see,Vic.
Thanks James, always a warm welcome here, I just listened to your new acoustic piece from Maestro Eric Johnson, very good, lot's of fruitful work in there and you pulled it of in great musicianship and joy, fantastic my friend,Vic.
It happened to me once that some notes were out of tune a bit and I thought it was my guitar having some flaws at the construction. I changed the strings and it sounded perfect XD !
This song has a lot of bossa nova rythm in it doesnt it. Your arrangement has alot of flavor an maybe just a bit faster will also do great.
Thanks Soulmony,an interesting comment you made, very welcome, it could be strings but I have the feeling that the capo was not placed totally right and that also can have an effect on the sound-pitch. I thought the rest was played with the right feel so I accepted this flaw, I think I'm suffering more from it than the listeners. And yes it's a Bossa feel,I love that style,I'll try it slightly faster see how it works, friendly greetings Vic.
nice to see yo with a new great video!! Your arrangement is fantastic!! And as always wonderful sound and awesome playing!! You got the feeling for the Samba!! I enjoy it very much!! Have a nice evening and a big hug Sarah :-)
Thanks Sarah, big hug for you too, and for always checking me out. You know I grew up in Curacao (Netherlands Antilles) and there it was a melting pot of so many latin styles,I'm glad I grew up there it was a rich foundation for further development, greets mein Madchen,Vic.
Thanks a lot Frank, this looks easy but the syncopation of melody against bass ain't, learning lot with this stuff, yeah I agree the Beatles always top-notch material to work with, those chaps could compose man. I think "LongWinding got lost somewhere,is that a new channel of yours?please re-send the invitation,I'm always curious what senor Frank is doing(it's always cool) don't forget mi Amigo,Vic.
Groetjes Vic.
Fantastic.

The Samba style works very well with this tune. You manage to keep it moving. The bass lines support the harmony.
Very rich and classy ending.
Vic,
There is allot of good stuff going on here. This goes straight away to my Favs.
Well done maestro!

Vic,
Tommy's arrangements can be a real bitch sometimes.
I was learning "The Hunt". The runs are easy but there is one measure that drives me crazy. The top voice has dotted quarter notes. The base (or second) voice is played with straight eighth notes.
Check out his video of that tune.
Cheers,
allen

I will do that Allen, I'm always listening to everybody, I know he's an incredible player with a personal style, greets Vic.

Vic,
When you listen check out measure 37. Dot eights top straight eights bottom voice.
I wonder what color the sky is on Tommy's home planet :O).

Greets Vic.

Vic,
I like the capo and voicings, with the ability to play an alternating bass line and stay in the original key. The genius of Chet Atkins is the abilty to take complex arrangements, move them on the neck to facilitate the voicings in there simplest form. Well done, I enjoy your fingerstyle tunes.
Regards,
Carl
SoloGuitarist1 2 years ago
Thanks Carl, yes Chet and the later Tommy Emanuel have great freedom between the alternating bass and at the same time syncopating melody and harmony, in the beginning quite difficult but I think it has become a second nature for them to think in this way, Vic.

Thanks Jake, you're right I never heard a bad Beatles tune,Vic.
Jazzguts 2 years ago
It happened to me once that some notes were out of tune a bit and I thought it was my guitar having some flaws at the construction. I changed the strings and it sounded perfect XD !
This song has a lot of bossa nova rythm in it doesnt it. Your arrangement has alot of flavor an maybe just a bit faster will also do great.
soulmony 2 years ago
Thanks Soulmony,an interesting comment you made, very welcome, it could be strings but I have the feeling that the capo was not placed totally right and that also can have an effect on the sound-pitch. I thought the rest was played with the right feel so I accepted this flaw, I think I'm suffering more from it than the listeners. And yes it's a Bossa feel,I love that style,I'll try it slightly faster see how it works, friendly greetings Vic.

Mooi nummer Vic.. Goeie baslijn ook.
Sjaak 2 years ago

Hi Vic, I´m a Beatlemaniac! Thank you for this great version! Really very nice, cool sound! And the chromatic step 1 higher included!

P.S. Did you get my message of the originals channel of mine "LONGWINDING"?
VenusAndMars1 2 years ago
Thanks a lot Frank, this looks easy but the syncopation of melody against bass ain't, learning lot with this stuff, yeah I agree the Beatles always top-notch material to work with, those chaps could compose man. I think "LongWinding got lost somewhere,is that a new channel of yours?please re-send the invitation,I'm always curious what senor Frank is doing(it's always cool) don't forget mi Amigo,Vic.
Jazzguts 2 years ago
Yes you´re right,Vic, they did a lot of very intelligent and (at the same time) beautiful stuff. And you added your great playing to it.
Longwinding, that´s my channel for my originals only, some of the older ones (had a lot of requests) and of course a lot of new tunes!
