No he did grow as Tajik/Persian speaking Kabuli though his family come from a Pashton background. His heart was captured and nurtured by our Persian heritage & identity- it is obvious from his consistent focus & passion of Persian/Tajik poetry, Music, art, urban culture etc. Have you ever heard him speaking Pashto or regarding himself as Pashton? Be assured had he brought up in Laghman he would have never been the Ahmad Zahir we know of today! It was only his Kabuli environment made him a star.
