  • Wow. Really, really stupendous work. From a modeller and miniature painter with 20+ years experience, I take my hat off to you.

  • Awesome

  • I miss hearing that music on TV or in the movies... I really wish there were a new series coming out...

  • Very nice!

  • Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this! Literally gave me goosebumps watching this video of the finished product and all of the ones leading up to this really gave insight to the amount of hard work that went into this. Amazing!

  • I have the kit, in the box.....waiting to start. Glad to see the journeys of others who have trod before me, is great assistance to avoid the pitfalls....

  • Thats just amazing work, I love to do these, I havent made anything that big though, i'm pretty good at construction, but the painting... I am beyond rubbish at painting models, fills me with dread, i can never do the cosntruction justice. Making a ship like this would be great, but i have little enough social life as it is right now haha

  • I would love to build one of these but I don't really have the space for it so I'm building the smaller 1/1000 scale one and lighting it with fibre optics.

Only one nitpick detail though worth mentioning is the large blue dish should have small black lines that point to the center. Other then that its perfection!

You can see the lines in this shot:

    watch?v=P5gpDOwc5No&t=122

  • THAT is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

I want one, but sadly my skills aren't up to the job :((

  • You sir, are the man.

  • I just finished watching the whole series, and i just wanna say, awesome job! I thought about getting this model, never built any kind of model before, but i am a big fan of star trek, and this model really, really looks the part. And your model with all the details, wow! Thank you for putting out these videos, i hope you will do another ship, but maybe use a better camera to capture the process and the amazing detail you put in. :)

  • @BeerBellyDK Thanks, Actually I just started a 1/350 NX-01 build(fully lit of course) and I now have an Olympus PEN EP-1 hi def to shoot with. Look for the first build vid soon :)

  • That is a work of art. Pure and simple. I'd believe that was the actual ship built for real. Could easily have been in the film

  • This thing is so badass, fuck CG - am I right or am I right!

Damn I'd love to build one.

  • WOW!!!! that's all I can say....

  • The only word that comes to mind is EPIC!! You are truely a talented person. For not building a model in ten years is absolutley impressive. I am fairly new to modeling about two years ago, and my very first ever was this ship. I did not light it, but you have givin me inspiration now to definately build another, with lights once I'm finished with my other million things. If you would like, check out my channel. My second video show the Enterprise that I built. Once again, great job!!!

  • Amazing work! I made a similar model a long time ago (about 1992) with lights and sound effects, not costume made though, it was all part of a kit. Certainly not as good as this, but was great fun to do.

Recently I was thinking about building another Star Trek Ship, maybe the Enterprise E as no point re-doing another A.

This has certainly given me inspiration! Just WOW!

  • i love`t the detail the painta the entire project very but very well done my congrats...

keep on doing these star trek models

  • super bad ass

  • 2:50 chills all over the place

  • wow amazing!!!! well done, this video just inspired me 2 buy the kit, just ordered it 5 min ago, should be with me by sat. Gona order the lighting kit from the web site you mentioned 2, what was the second light kit you used? and where did you get the little people? lol The cargo bay looks fab. Well done, WELL DONE and thanks for sharing with us.

  • thats a beautiful ship. one of the best!!!

  • Just stopped in to see it AGAIN! :) its been a while since ive seen the finnished video, and as i was watching it was bringing back memories of watching the build vodeos.... :) "I was there man!" hahaha thank you again for taking us on this incredible journey. Only question now is .... whats next and how long do we have to wait?!?

  • Great work!!!

I build the USS Voyager with lights, but this one... wow!

and now, some asked about the music at the end

    very good work of ...

    Two steps From Hell

    Album: Archangel

    Title: Love & Loss

    Great Music for this!!

  • I gazed...

    Excellent!

I wish go trek to unknown space on her.

  • Without a doubt...this was the coolest thing I have ever seen! I had this kit, but yours puts mine to shame...not to mention the BEST Star Trek music ever made. SIMPLY AWESOME!!!

  • Great model and video! Now what polar lights should do is make an Enterprise D model. Now that's what want to see!

  • Top stuff I have just bought the kit my self, I think I email you about the lighting kits a few days ago.

Couple of questions thou, what did you use for glueing ? did you stick with the paint code by Model Masters and Testors guide in the Polar Lights USS Enterprise NCC-1701 Assembly Instructions. I was thinking of using Createx Airbrush Paint, what are your recommendations.

    cheers karl

  • Was the entire build done with the trekmodeler lighting kit, or were there some parts that came from elsewhere, e.g. I think one comment mentioned that the shuttle bay landing strip lights came from another vendor. Was there anything else?

  • Beautiful model. I could almost forgive you from using that TNG music. :)

  • wow, that's fantastic!

  • what did you use to cut the windows out in the shuttle bay im stuck on that because the windows are small and really thick

  • Now that is something to be proud of. Nice work. I am getting read to build one. I can only hope that mine will look half as good. Well done! Amazing!

  • I have just sat and watched the entire build in one night, spellbound.

she is a thing of beauty!

  • Outstanding work! It's begging for you to redo in 720p or better. I also have not built a model in many many years, gotta admit, your little video here is inspiring me to take the plunge into a big project.

  • Cool Model well Done! What is music at the end of the video?

  • 2:45 u just managed to piss me off. u mixed the original series with the new video from 2009 that makes me so mad

but nice job other than that

  • This sir...is AMAZING.

  • Comment removed

  • Great build. You did exactly what I want to do with mine. A few years ago I managed to run across a PL 350th scale 1701/1701-A for $30, craped my pants, snatched it up, and ran before the shop realized the real value of this kit. XD

  • "The word is given...Warp speed!"

  • The finished one looks stunning.

  • AWESOME!

  • Fantastic model - Can you tell me exactly what you ordered from Electronic Goldmine for the Runway Approach Lights please - I can't seem to find it when I search their site.

    Many thanks

  • HOLY SHIT WONDERFUL WORK

  • Kudos to you and what you've accomplished; this is epic.

I've collected and built Star Trek models as far back as I can remember (none nearly as good as this) but I've only just learned that this model kit was even available. I'll definitely add it to my list and if I can come anywhere remotely close to these results, I'll be in tall cotton!

    Thanks for sharing. :o)

  • You sir, ARE THE MASTER BUILDER!!

    WOWO!!!!!!

  • Excellent build. One of the nicest I've seen.

  • Truly a thing of beauty. Excellent work

  • Oustanding job.

I've the same model in my garage waiting to be built, but I want to find some walkthrough on how to install lights before. Can you tell me how you did so make the flickering lights please? And if you've a website with every information needed to built an electric system, I'm your man.

    Thank you.

  • @chenoir Go to trekmodeler, com and look at my other videos of the build process.

  • Just outstanding work here and the video really wraps things together with the music as a big cherry on the top. I may have to dig my kit out of the attic and send it to you guy's...I could only ever aspire to this kind of build...seriously, your build and video has left me tingling!

  • The lounge areas in the ship DEFINITELY look better than Motion Picture's virtually plantless, budget ones. Excellent job.

  • Truly stunning work. Even without a decent camera tracking rig, you still did an outstanding job of showing this model off. Well done.

  • sir you have done an outstanding job---with a green screen and an effect program, your model would be awesome for effects shots. i have an unlit 350th kit i built, not NEARLY as good...when the wife and i get the car paid off in june, i fully intend to buy a second kit, and use your videos to do the lighting.

did you use the aztec decals that came with it, or stencil your own aztecing?

  • @superpaperdude Thank you! The aztecs are the decals, check my other videos for lots of info on them. The rec deck was part of the paragraphix PE set.

  • Wow, just amazing work sir! Love the cat keeping watch as well.

  • Agree with all the other comments, though the random cat standing in the background inspecting your work was the highlight for me. LOL.

  • Beautiful! I just ordered a model kit myself, I can't wait to start on my build. Where did you get the photo etch kits? I found the Paragrafix one, however they are out of stock, but can't find the other one. Also - what kit did you use from Electronic Goldmine?

  • @BufferOverflow1 I believe the PNT kit is no longer avaliable. I got mine off of ebay...that pop up every so often. Good luck!!!!

The goldmine kit is the sequencing 10 light DIY kit for the runway lights.

  • Does it have auto destruct!

  • Sweet do you know where i can find a spacedock the same scale i already found the model!

  • wow, very good, im a big fan of the enterprise and i gotta say thats the best enterprise model i've seen, btw how were you able to mask off some of oval windows and some of the smaller parts with out the other paint mixing with the the pearl, again looks great:)

  • What lighting kit did U use, this is awesome!!

  • Very Nice!! I was looking for model from the new movie and stumbled upon yours, (number 5 in line i think...). I went back and watched all thru to done.. You did a nice job explaining the build in the videos, and the final topped it off.

You get a "Best of Show" vote from me for your video diary as well!

  • Epicness at 3:07

    Bravo!

  • My God, man! Who needs CGI when there are modelers like you around!

    "This Far By Faith,"

    Jimmy Diggs

(freelance screenwriter for "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)

  • Absolutely stunning work! I really enjoyed the build videos leading up to this as well.

  • you are fucking epic. and this may seem a little nerdy gay or what ever but i like started crying about 1 minute in from my the pure awesomeness of your build and might i say most excellent choice of music albiet from first contact but still epic none the less. if i had a spare 10 grand i would have you build me one.

  • @helipilot27 1:25 WOW now that looks spot on!

1:54 Wow the shuttle bay with two turbo lifts and shuttles and more

Like the new STAR TREK score being mixed into the video.

I’d swear I was looking at shooting model! WOOOOOW

You not selling this on ebay are you. LOL just kidding you keep it that is brilliant work hard work on such a small scaled model kit.

I’d give the video a WARP FACTOR 10 rating!

  • Best build of the Retro I have ever seen! Well done.

  • First Class work. The studios should be calling you!

  • @helipilot27

Checked the link and you're right- It knocked my socks off. I may give it a try in 1/350 using the pictures of the drydock on some of the links. It would make a beautiful setting for the 1/350 scale Polar Lights Enterprise which I am planning to build in the next year or two.

  • Fantastic build my friend!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Congratulations!! it is a work in state of art! just amazing!! beautiful! well done!!

  • I'm in Love !! Beautiful !!

  • This is incredible! Words cannot and will not describe how I felt when you finished the Enterprise! In an early video you stated that you didn't know that much about Star Trek...I beg to differ! You know more than a lot of modelers here on youtube! Your version is so exact to the true thing that I believe it's movie grade! This is absolutely amazing! From an old school Trekkie to a starship modeler I salute you!!!!

  • OMG! Helipilot27 your video of the 1/350th scale USS Enterprise NCC-1701 by Polar Lights actually sent GOOSEBUMPS through my body when I saw the video! THEN your choice of the trac from 1st Contact was SO on time and then the coup de gras came when the trac Enterprising Young Men by Michael Giacchino trac was in PERFECT sync to the entire model being lit up!

I have built a Pro version of the Enterprise E and am inspired to redo my video and add music.

    airwolfflies

  • @airwolfflies Thanks You!! The video was a lot of fun to make, of course I had 6 months to design it in my mind so I pretty much knew what I wanted when the model was finished.

  • Holy shit. I watched all your videos of you putting this baby together. She is a beauty. Best looking Enterprise in the entire series.

  • Man... this is just amazing....

  • I was really impressed when I first started watching, then I saw the trailing hanger bay interior floor lighting and that just blew my socks off. Well done.

  • This very same kit was going to be my next project, but looking at that vid makes me sad.... no matter how good mine comes out it will never be that!!! :(.. lol

  • The ship looks great, nice lighting, very detailed, as Spock would say: "fascinating."

  • what ever you do @helipilot27

Don't sell this this is like your greatest creation i love it

  • Well it should have been 1st PLACE AND BEST OF SHOW! An "Old Trekker"--59 last Apr 2. At the 1st ST ('72) con in LA met, DeForest Kelly, me & 3 others talked with him for about 40 mins. Had a scotch with "Scotty" and met Gene and he autographed a book I had to pass the time THE PATTON PAPERS. Still remember him smiling and say; "That is a GOOD BOOK!"

  • I bow to your greatness! This is absolutely top rate, well done. And you chose the best soundtracks too!!

  • This is the REAL ENTERPRISE!!!! The best...

  • HEY ! Total SUPER !

Ich baue die ENTERPRISE 1/350 seit Gestern :)

    LG

  • It looks like you WON FIRST PLACE! WELL DONE!

  • @rangeclerk Thanks! Actually it was "Best of Show" :)

  • This model is amazing. Shes a fine ship.

  • They'd have been proud to have used this model in the Star Trek TOS movies. Absolutely Brilliant!!

  • YOU ARE AMAZING! At last! Someone who got it right!!!!!!!!! BADASS!

  • This is how the Enterprise should have appeared in the new star trek film

  • I followed your build and am about to start my own. Can you tell me what product you used for your final semi gloss clear coat over the decals. I was going to use Tamiya TS-79. I'm using the same Tamiya Pearl you used for the final paint, but have heard horror stories about the Tamiya clear semi gloss messing up the decals. Thanks for your help and the inspiration provided via your video posts.

  • @ltsull I used Testors Model Master clear. I sprayed semi-gloss mixed with flat. The ratio formula is on build 10 of my series. I used Tamiya paints but I never used their clear top coats...I have always done well with Model Master in the past so I figured no sense in risking it.

  • What can we expect next? I would love to see some Thunderbirds or more star trek did u sent this to the studio? they need to see what kind of shots we want to see in the films

  • Wow, this is an outstanding build! Very professional. You must be very proud of it. I sure would be! I used to build models when I was a teenager and did alright, but never went to this kind of level... sure wish I could, but the investment in skills must be significant. Especially where painting is concerned. Did you use airbrushes to do the detail? Again, congrats on your work. I think this is the best NCC-1701-A out there. :-)

  • Outstanding Job building this model. You did a great job documenting your build. I build something closer to the Raytheon version myself. I'm thinking about building another of the same model but combining your work with the Raytheon version. Also what was the song you played in this movie this started at about 5:11. This song is really good and goes with your pictures very well.

Thanks for sharing your build with us.

  • @dyscomel Thank you, the music is Two Steps from Hell, I cant remember the title, but if you like it, search for them here on youtube you will find some good scores.

  • @helipilot27 Copy all. Thank you. I watched you movie again; once again great job. For all those interested in knowing what the last song is it's:

"Two Steps From Hell - Love & Loss"

    Thank you

  • @helipilot27 Copy all thank you. Again you did a great job. ALCON: the last song is "Two Steps From Hell - Love & Loss"

  • Damn. You could have actually filmed a freaking star trek movie with that model.

I actually just ordered this specific kit and look forward to spending the next few months working on it (work and school schedule permitting).

I'm hoping I can con my buddy who's an electrical pro to help me light the thing.

  • The music, the lightning, the filming and the model itself and up to a fantastic experience, Congratulations! The model is absolutely brilliant!

  • Excellent craftsmanship-both the model and the video.

  • Great build, just fantastic! Can I ask what parts you used from Electronic Goldmine to make the landing strip lights? I want to start my build soon and I would love to know... thanks!

  • WOW!!! OUTSTANDING!!!

  • OMG The shuttle bay landing lights are the perfect touch. What a fantastic job. I watched this 4 times now and I still expect the movie to start anytime. If you had a worker floating outside waving I think I would have spoted. The music lighting sequence was the bomb. So, how does your wife cope with this machine in the middle of the living room?

  • Very nice video!!!!

  • Just great. It lives in your home now. Please tell us all how it went at the model show.

  • Wow, dude! Very epic! And by that I mean both the quality of the video you put together as well as the model you built. Holy cow! I mean...just...wow!!!!

  • Phenominal job, my friend!

  • Y'know what I love most about this movie? The fact that you combined the shots with the music *flawlessly*! I love how you matched, shot-for-shot, the power-up sequence in TMP/TWOK. It really sent emotional vibes through my heart.

Your model work is superb as well. The lighting effects are perfectly executed (a testament to the brilliant kit put out by Trekmodeler), and the paint work and build quality are top-notch. I'm really not surprised it won best of show.

  • @millenniumfalsehood Thanks so much!

  • what a beauty. superb.

  • Congrats my friend.... its been a long journey that I've been happy/excited to see you traverse. Its absolutely brilliant! I'm in awe of how much you've put into it, and almost tempted to start my own journey. But alas what ones heart desires, his mind may not comprehend.

I'd be VERY happy to see you continue your hobby- Please keep us updated whenever your ready for the next challenge!

  • @SVPrelude Thanks for sticking in there!

    Next up is a fully-lit cut-away Millennium Falcon :)

  • AWWWWESOME!

  • This is the best Star Trek porn ever, by your own admision u r not even a fan, yet you have given us the best shots of the ship we have ever been given. You put the studio to shame, I hope you send them a copy because this is what we want to see in the movies.

As I warned you before what ever music you chose some fans would not like, sorry I am one of them lol but even with this minor issue it is still the best ever shots of the ship I have ever seen you have raised the bar!!! sorry its alover

  • Beautiful work!

  • wow I really wish I had one of those but there is no way I could make one.

  • This is bye fare the best build video ever.

You have taken the time to build a great star ship, and help anyone going to build in the future.Your building tips and info is so very valuable.Very few stop to show and tell. You have shown those who think they cant.THEY CAN!

You are keeping this hobby and Enterprise alive.

Because of you there will be alot of great star ships in homes in the future.

For your ship and service to the star trek builders we thank you.

My your build and you live long

  • @kahn1701 Now THATS a nice compliment...Thanks and glad you enjoyed it.

  • YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!! Yes ... Fan-frickin-tastic! Can i come shoot a movie at your house?!? :) J/K Thanks for sharing!

  • The video really does capture the detail. The ship takes on a more metallic look which is great. Truly amazing...nice mix of music.

  • Awesome video!

  • A helluva lotta work that really paid off!

  • Bravo! Truly beautiful.
