  • 0:15 why is Voldemort looking at her legs? hehe :D

  • The director said that they were holding out for Nicole Kidman but the delayed shooting of Eyes Wide Shot meant that it was impossible to get her - so they went with Thurman. Both actors are normally excellent but were so badly miscast for this film. Many elements of it in isolation are very good but put together they make one incredibly soul destroying film. I've never reacted badly to a film so quickly when watching it. There could have been a good Avengers film but this wasn't it. shame.

  • @Darren79 Agreed, especially the fact that these two wonderful lead actors were so mismatched and did not fit the mold of the legendary Dame Diana and Patrick Macnee.

  • @Darren79 I'm glad Nicole Kidman fell through. She's overrated and snotty acting. I couldn't picture her as Steed's counterpart, Emma Peel. Uma Thurman has a sexy vitality and some vulnerability which meshed with Ralph Fiennes.

  • @Darren79 - I don't think Nicole Kidman would have been much better either. Again this is a quintessential British tv series and only a british actress could have done justice to the role. I would have loved Emma Thompson by at that stage, the actress was in her late 30's and may have been considered too old.

Minnie Driver apparently expressed an interest in wanting the part, but for my money Catherine Zeta Jones would have fit the bill nicely. Beautiful, classy, talented and a Brit!.

  • Sorry, Uma Thurman was miscast as Emma Peel. Despite being a talented actress, she just wasn't right for this role. Her English accent was very "put on" and didn't come across as being real. Not to mention her interactions with Ralph Fiennes felt rather forced.

The producers should have gone with a British actress who could have lent an air of credibility to the part. Mind you, there were many other problems with this film. Not surprisingly, it bombed with critics and movie goers......

  • @woohooboy No she owned the role. And she completed Ralph Fiennes as his equal. I loved the romantic tension and bantering between them.

  • @bklyngirlNY1 - I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree on that. Uma didn't own the role. Her performance was stiff to say the least. She tried to come off as witty as sophisicated but instead was aloof and distant. Part of this comes down to the script which was not particularly good to begin with and the direction lacked focus.

Thurman's British accent doesn't sound authentic. It sounds "rehearsed", like the actress is trying to approximate the tone and style but without it being natural

  • Thanks, Rarely missed an episode.

  • i would enjoy her legs on my arm

  • Wonder women, move right over. You have met your match and not just another pretty face either. Adore this movie. Nothing like the original that we could all enjoy, as I recall, daily.

  • @Pattifish Yeah I shall have to find some Diana Rigg clips for you..one of the first Uma types!

  • groan! horrible britsh accent by thurman! is that fencing? or a sexy actress pretending? pure dog-barf!

  • Emma is definitely Steed's beard.

  • 0:14 wow!

  • Uma is stunning!

  • why were scenes cut from this wonderful action-adventure film?

  • The dialog is masterful too!

  • Indeed and Ralph and Uma act this scene brilliantly together!

  • Uma is great!
