@DaveS12382 I'd disagree and i know im going to get hate mail for this but the beatles in their early years were over rated just like the boy bands of the past and ugh i cant believe im sayin this justin bibber they were only popularized becouse of young girls, thank god the beatles got better though. and for their solo careers.
@julegad ha ha ha and ha siamese dream one of there worst albums . man where have you been, what year were you born? go and read reviews on siamese dream and have a good listen to it if you havent. This is easily there best work followed by Mellon Collie. You cant be a serious pumkins fan if you thinks Siamese is there worst work.
I'm a big fan of intros...this has a god like intro! I mean literally like a God is coming in with this music in the background. Such a moving opening. An unforgettable song
I mean its cool. It isn't as if this band is unknown, its much more popular than any metal band but it just borrows influence from shoegazers like swervedriver and my bloody valentine and packages it for the pop consumer.
90s was the most amazing period of rock the chili peppers(my fav) nirvana, rage against the machine, the sPumpkins, pearl jam. wish I was able to be a teen then. oi was born in 94.
Thats not rock,90 was the age of the best indie bands(nirvana being the best) the rock age were the 60´s,with The Who being one of the most representative bands
@sircharliesavior I was a teen then, and I grew up just north of seattle, It was a cool time. I had friends who hired Alice in Chains to play their house parties before they got a record deal. It was pretty cool, if you are into that era, check out a few of the other bands from that time, Grungetruck, Candlebox(their debut disc is awesome!) Brother Cane's album seeds, AFI before they got a major label deal, collective soul is cool too.
@sircharliesavior also if you listen to 99.3 the fox online, they have a radio program called the 90's at noon, which starts at noon pacific time, they play all sorts of music from the 90's. Big Hits, one hit wonders, random seldom heard tracks, its pretty cool!
This is my favorite song ever! Who cares what the metalheads say at my school, the smashing pumpkins is the best band ever. I hope that in the future people will like the smashing pumpkins as much as they liked them in the 90s

It's nice to see that someone is into great music.
one day at school we were at the computers and we searched for some vid we didnt find on youtube but i saw this vid there and i said to my friend to click it and he did and before billy starts to sing in this song he said "no one cant listen to this" and turned it off which pissed me off because the smashing pumpkins and incredibly good!
This still sounds great. Billys head got too big and the music went downhill after this. Isaw them live in 96 and it pissed me off. They just sloshed through the "hits".
This was not their first single, it's from their second album, Siamese Dream, while their first album was called Gish. However yes, the song is good and it deserved a better video. And I preferred good old Billy with hair, altough I'll never stop thinking he shaved himself because he had started balding XD
know what your all saying about the vid,but remember, this was their first single, you can see by their later music vids that the cash had started rolling in!anyways, this brings back loadsa great memories, one of my fave songs ever!
The main chord in this song was borrowed from Jimi Hendrix according to Corgan. This is the main chord in the song Third Stone from the Sun on the Hendrix album "Are You Experienced?". This song is a great example of someone taking their influences and putting them to new use.
God i used to play this song like 6 times a day and also listened to Siamese Dream everyday- but now i hardly play it coz i got sick of it (but it still is an old time favourite song for me)
i'm listenin to this and it sounds like someones messin with the volume knob....

@LuisDolores2244 nay it would be the 60's duh the beatles, the floyd, hendrix, the doors, fuckin sizzle.

I think it's a huge generalization to say all metal fans, by necessity, hate every genre of music outside metal and have 'awful taste'.

This definitely my favorite SP song. You can say its commercialized shoegaze, who cares someone was gonna do it anyways.
Here it's like they wanted to take the cover of Loveless and turn it into an entire video.
