you have to progress slowly, start with knees at chest, then move onto knees making 45 degree angle with hips, then either do a straddle front lever or a half tuck. takes time, but do static hold until you can do each for about a minute without needing to rest before moving onto the next.
It takes more pulling strength than core strength to pull off a front lever.
Check out this guy's other videos, he can do one arm pullups like mad... you don't have to be huge to be hella strong (although if you are huge you're strong guaranteed).
I just meant that if you`re big you`d be generally strong, like able to carry heavy things and stuff. For sure if you want to be good at bodyweight skills it helps to be a bit lighter.
@7thSense Man thats a good question I can do a front lever, but the crazy part is i really cldnt tell u wht i did to pull it of... i just got on the bar, and did it one day LOL.. after so many previous attempts .... LOL i trying to hold it now, not there yet..
reke93ck comment. he just pointed that he cant hold the front levers , so doin these kind of icecreammakers u will increase ur capability of holding such a lever..
so its not stupid and not in any reference to the built of 'ableteams's body
i do front lever once in a while, cant do sets of it >_<
its not its too hard, just my back hurts aloott afterwards..
and this is not front lever

@ratchetxys it's a front lever pull through, just to train for a front lever

@JacktheDaniels But if you're huge bodyweight training becomes much more challenging at the same time

that takes a TON of strength in the lats and shoulders as well as in the core area.
you can have as much abdominal strength as you want, but without the strength in the back/lats, you're not gonna be able to do what that guy just was.
don't let his size fool you
IANsE91 2 years ago
You're the one saying stupid things. Front levers don't just work your core, they take a ton of lat, rear delt, tricep, even chest strength.

This is very well done. If anything could be done slower but very good form all the same.
Nickarass 3 years ago
is this more lats or abs?
7thSense 3 years ago
It's your whole upper body really. A lot of the strain is on your back and core muscles.

7thSense 4 years ago
pullups... a lot and weighted will work
ORTprod 3 years ago
you can do that but it wont help you much. google "coach sommer" on google; it has a detailed article on how to hold a front lever.
i just tried this and i can only do 3 with good form, then i have to start piking. btw i can hold a front lever for about 20 seconds.
anyway, ableteam, good stuff man. never favorited so many videos from one person haha
