  • Titanosaurus and Gabara much?

  • Godzilla's foul tempered British cousin

  • Gorgoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo 6 anke in un film

  • @paologualini ke gay

  • One of the best Godzilla knockoff's out there period i would definitely like to see another pure monster movie come from England i always thought it is the perfect setting for one.

Just imagine if the British film industry got the rights for a Godzilla film now that would be interesting indeed.

  • backyard monsters

  • The second I heard "Nothing can stop it" only one thing came to my mind. Godzilla.

  • Gorgo In Backyard Monsters..........

  • thumps up if you thought this had to do with backyard monsters

  • 'Born in a mining town in '58, when black and white TV was up to date...' - Bruce Dickinson.

  • 0:51 Gorgo is friend to Children!!

  • @ZhabatheHutt u don't know what your talking about! Gorgo is an enemy of children! its gammera thats a friend of children. wake up and smell the coffee!

  • this is how they got Gorgo the Great from Backyard Monsters

  • Comment removed

  • it sounds like its somewhere between Free Willy, King Kong, Godzilla, and Finding Nemo

  • @EmperorMarcusNovius to be fair though england was the target for one of the greatest ever sci-fi events, that being the martian invasion in War of the Worlds

  • I had my volume up and i started the video...

  • And the award for best English film ripped-off from a Japanese film intern ripped-off from a US film which was itself stolen from a Ray Bradbury short story; Goes To...

(& the funny bit... is that the Japanese turned around and ripped THIS film off!!!)

  • Not only would Godzilla pwn Gorgo, so would baby Godzilla, Zilla, and pretty much anything else. I bet even the Cloverfield monster (which is supposed to be an infant) would make Gorgo piss in his little panties. There, I said it, somebody had to say it, so suck it!!

  • @GroinFaceGroin Gorgo is a baby, too. Kind of funny because he also is missing his mother. Maybe this was what inspired Cloverfeild.

  • @MetalKnuckles509 yes and no. There are key differences. for example...Cloverfield is ALOT bigger. Baby Gorgo was chained up and put in a sideshow as an exhibit. The Japanese actually LIKE clover too (they got some mangas on him). I can go on and on :)

  • @GroinFaceGroin u don't seem to know what your talking about either. WTF is a mangas!!! are u NUTS!!!

  • @barryoneful If you don't know what a manga comic is, then you are officially lame. Any one of these fine people here can easily provide you with that information (while laughing their asses off at you).

  • I love the design on the back of the suit- alot of monsters had spines, but it just had a crocodile back-very nice.

  • gorgo would absolutely annihilate reptilicus! ......reptilicus looses to many body parts.

  • Saw it at our local Drive-in movie theater when it was released.

  • gorgo is the best monster movie ever made and he would look great in CGI. you would think that a sequel would have been done by now. maybe gorgo fans should email metro goldwyn mayer and press for a remake?

  • @barryoneful Just as long as Keanu Reeves isn't in it. Look how the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" turned out. Yecch!

  • @mocharger06 they can put keanu reeves in the rubber suit so that nobody can see what o lousy actor he is.

  • @barryoneful It would STILL show!

  • @mocharger06 if you want to see a good gorgo video look up gorgo ash ichiban... but turn it up loud.

  • @barryoneful I don't need to look up the video. I have the whole movie! :)

  • Watch closely at the woman running at 2:11. A brick wall falls on her and she's still running. Not to mention the sticks on the bottle rockets they fire at the mother. You can see the sticks bounce off when the rockets hit her. Still, it's a fun movie to watch. And she'd STILL kick Reptilicus' butt!! LOL!

  • National Monsters

    Britain and Ireland: Gorgo

Japan: Godzilla, Gamera and the monsters from their movies

    Denmark: Reptilicus

Brazil: The Gill Man (American made but it lives in Brazil's rainforest)

Italy: Ymir (20 million miles to Earth, yeah American made but it attacked Italy)

South Korea: Yonggary/Reptillian and the Host

US: King Kong, Clover, Jaws, The Beast from 20,000 Fathams, The Giant Ants from THEM, Zilla, Godzilla (adopted)

  • @snakes3425 ...Antartica, the Thing.

  • If they make a Godzilla vs Gorgo, I'd have money on Godzilla.

  • @nintendomaster90 There's no doubt about it.

  • @nintendomaster90 ....It wouls probably be a draw with neither one winning so they can make the inevitable sequel.

  • Cloverfield done backwards (In Cloverfield the monster was a baby throwing a tantrum while searching for it's mother in Gorgo it's the other way around, the mother goes berzerk while searching for her baby)

  • Gorgo needs a remake, just because special effects has become better sense the 60's.

  • Dunno why, but I fancy some Chewits...

  • My big sister took me to see this movie when it first came out. I was eight and and she was fourteen. If I remember correctly, the big monster was the little monster's mother, and she only wanted her baby back. At the end the two of them go off together into the ocean. I'll have to ask my sister if she remembers.

  • nothing as great as godzilla but still pretty awesome.

  • From what I have read, TOHO was going to use this monster (as well as King Kong) for Destroy all Monsters.

  • LOL! Reptilicus is a SOCK PUPPET!!

  • @mocharger06 LOL!!

  • Cryptozoological novel about two boys who find something strange on a beach one night see video book trailer

  • what is it a mini godzilla

  • Gorgo vs Godzilla. That would be a good fight.

  • @avpkid345 john carpender made a gorgo vs godzilla stop motion in his early days but toho made him get rid of it

  • @avpkid345 Godzilla would pwn Gorgo.

  • One tended to root for the creature in this film--and it won, in the end.

  • Though it is a British film, its really a Japanese monster film at heart, but thats not a bad thing.Probably the best "man in a rubber suit" monster movie ever made, it is definately worth seeing.

  • @loufalce Godzilla is the best "man in a rubber suit" monster movie ever made. Not this.

  • @blablabla8368 ....You`re right, I stand corrected. But it still is in the Top Ten.

  • @loufalce It is Korean

  • @loufalce That's basically the point of the film. Even though it was made in Britian it was supposed to reminisant of an old Kaiju film of Japan.

  • Godzilla would own this noob

  • @EmperorMarcusNovius Either that, or it's Margaret Thatcher with her makeup off.

  • just like a japannes monster GOZILA!

  • I thought this was great when I was a nipper. Loved it when mum showed up!

  • godzilla vs. gorgo vs. reptilos.....godzilla ftw...

  • This movie actually looks convincing for the era it is from. Awesome! I'm glad this was posted!

  • I remember being amazed the first time I saw this as a kid. A giant monster that WASN'T Godzilla. Wasn't even fighting Godzilla?! And was terrorizing non-Asians?! What an incredible concept. I liked the fins on his head and the big clawed hands too.

  • I bet the young boy was Nick Griffin

vote BNP to stop the destruction of the Beautiful Britain.

  • this Godzilla should be named Mohammed

  • shockingly convincing. hmm.

  • Mother love, monster style!

  • love this as a kid ( wayland gillin ) bronx in the house.

  • Gorgo, Britains answer to Godzilla

  • is Gorgo is British answer Godzilla?

  • this is much like the movie godzilla which is about a lizard who is mutated by a nuclear explosion.

  • God Japan has to suffer with Godzilla and we (england) have to suffer Gorgo

  • This monster reminds me of Titanasaurus.

  • I loved this movie as a kid...it was a box office the hit back in 1960, the Godzilla of England. It would make a cool remake if it was done right and set in New York City.

  • I always thought that this was a very different and satisfying storyline. Almost cute- in a monster sort of way.

  • It would be cool if Gorgo fought Godzilla.

  • hahaha, "incredibly realistic!", Silly olden-days people....

  • This movie is so underrated.

  • nothing but an inverted godzilla.

  • Lol they have so many old giant monster movies to remake, CAN'T WAIT

  • This is so much better and solid than new CG movies! I am really getting sick of glossy hollow computer effects. This is not just a Godzilla ripoff and the ending makes me cry. I found the VHS tape of this and love it! Also the one actor is in 2001 a space odyssey!

  • Incredibly realistic!

  • Gorgo could be a Titanosaurus aunt!!!

Lol this is an awesome movie with a good story, but to me...Godzilla is numba 1always

  • Nothing can stop it!

  • You could say Gorgo is the British Godzilla. If Gorgo and Godzilla had a fight, Godzilla would win hands down because he can blow shit up with his nuclear breath. XD

  • well i would say godzilla is an international monster, all aound the world, although i like this i still like godzilla much more. im british and watch it so ins international while this is just 1 small film way behind godzilla.

  • Cool monster, No Godzilla, but what can you expect.. Godzilla's a Classic.

But I do enjoy Gorgo, I think it is a very Under-rated monster movie. Special Effect's were great for the time this film was made.

I haven't seen it in 18 years but i remember enjoying it, esp when the adult came an kicked some serious ass. I will have to watch it again one day soon.

Maybe i'll have a Godzilla an Gorgo day.

  • Still holds up very well...great picture!

  • Actually this Godzilla ripoff scared the crap outta me when i was but a lad, many years ago.

    Yes I'm old.

  • Is that kill by Tomahawk of Atomic Bomb?

  • Its trigger happy wenough for me. a 6 out of 6.

  • Too strong is that can stop by Tomahawk?

  • I pissed myself when I first saw this

  • Of all the tag lines to put on it, 'Shockingly Convincing' just cracks me up XD

  • I always liked this movie. All the mother wanted was her young back and they got to go home , not killed.

  • cool, 60s london and shit

  • 1:24 I like how they used the word 'awesome' in those days. Today it means something slightly different doesn't it?

  • I love this movie. Incredible special-effects for 1961, the year I was born.

  • I wish someone would upload the pretty theme music in the beginning.

  • i saw my first godzilla film when i was 4 the first one was zilla the other one godzilla vs king ghidorah when i saw gorgo i thought that he was the inspiration for godzilla

  • great old kids film!

  • This is such a good movie.

  • "most fantastic monster of our time" Except for godzilla...kong...giant claw...even cloverfeild...

  • I met this monster by watching the twisted tales of felix the cat.

  • me too :D

  • HAHAHA the one episdode where he goes to the video store?

  • i think so xD the whole episode was weird as hell xD but it is like more than 10 years ago that i saw it^^

  • Its been 12/14 for I watched on Cartoon Network when I was in elementary school the show lasted for 3 years on Cartoon Network from when I as 8 to when I was 10.

  • is it possible that your chilenean too? xD

  • classic brit attempt at a monster movie

  • Nothing like seeing Big Ben get destroyed...Again!

  • In 1961 I was 6 yrs. old, and I cut out the newspaper movie ad for "Gorgo" and would keep it with me and show all of my friends. Because I was only 6 my parents would not take me to see it. I have just ordered it on-line. It will be the first time I have EVER seen "Gorgo".

  • it was obviously a man in a rubber suit.

  • I think Gorgo should fight Reptilicus in ''Gorgo vs. Reptilicus'' with the monsters in CGI and I would pay to go see Gorgo fighting Reptilicus in this Gorgo (the mother ) fighting Reptilicus in '' Gorgo vs. Reptilicus '' .

  • I'm all with you but CGI? Hell no!

  • @darkkigomeNladydeath Let big bad momma Gorgo fight male macho Godzilla. It's a long brutal free for all physical fight like Rocky vs Drago with much brutal bloody fighting and no mercy or rules at all, both monsters beat the crap outta each other and then soon start liking and respecting each other. Then later Gorgo has a few kids, and Godzilla is thier father. Big bad momma Gorgo is a firece Amazon Dino who wants a mate with BALLS and not a worthless pussy, thus Godzilla is her mate.

  • Technically, that's what happen if you mix Godzilla's story with King Kong's. Especially Mothra's.

  • There's a fan made story where Gorgo and his mother battles Reptilicus (possibly the regenerated feet of the Reptilicus as you can see in the end of the movie). Gorgo and Ogra wins in the end of the story.

  • I would have love to see Gorgo (the mother) fighting Godzilla, I would pay to have England and Japanese monsters duke it out.

  • And I hope King Productions (or other British movie company) can team up with Toho to make a true Gorgo vs Godzilla. And Gorgo's mother is known as Ogra.

  • They should have made the sequels. I would have wanted one of the sequel for England and Toho to team up and have Godzilla and Gorgo fighting each other. That would have been so cool, I'll pay to see that.

  • One of the giant monster classic films like: "Gojira", "Gamera", "King Kong", "Gappa" and recent classics like "The Host" and "Cloverfield". I have the widescreen destruction edition on dvd. I watched this film as a kid growing up in the 70's. It is still awesome today.

  • I saw this movie on network television back in the 1980's as a boy. This was before the rise of cable, when the networks would show monster movies, and sci-fi films from the 50's and 60's. Ah, the memories.

  • pretty good movie.

  • STAY CREEPY

  • My Grandmother took me to see this twice, at the Florida Theater, in downtown West Palm Beach when I was 6. God bless her because I know this was not her "cup of tea"!

  • 'Realistic' and 'convincing'?

    There's lies, and there's d@mned lies...

    Great movie though!

  • hey it was 1961

  • this was a good movie.

  • One of the better monster movies from back then. It is actually still good. Not in Gojira's or Gamera's league; but still good. I have the "Widescreen Destruction Edition" dvd. Way better than Reptilicus or The Giant Claw.

  • cloverfield would so kik its ass but the movie looks kewl

  • Cloverfield needed crabs. Gorgo didn't.

  • cloverfield doesnt "need crabs" and the monster looks kool

  • I think you and ExoticFilmsAndEtc mentions there should be "Cloverfield vs. Gorgo".

  • How many copies of godzilla are they! XD

    Gorgo looks cool! ^^

  • repent under gorgo's foot shit for brains.

  • no! he destroyed big ben!

  • Oh man... Its the story of King Kong and Godzilla in one! Must see it

  • I have this on VHS it's great.

  • i loved this movie as a kid. does any body know if its been released on dvd yet?

  • The DVD "Widescreen Destruction Edition" is available from VCI Video. (It's listed on Amazon.)

  • thanks for the trailer I'll look forword to seeing it by the way why's it so red?

  • This trailer was printed in the Eastman color process, which tends to lose its color value over time. That's what happened here. Faded Eastmans tend to have a reddish and/or brownish look.

  • For its time, Gorgo ( called "Ogra" by the kid in the movie) was one of the better 'man-in-the-monster-suit' movies made! Mama Gorgo could have kicked the Cloverfield monster's ass!

  • ogra is gorgo's mother

  • Well, I would love to see Godzilla and Gorgo fighting it out. Britain should have done a sequel and one of them should have Godzilla fighting Gorgo.

  • But to do that, the guys in the UK must first take rights from Toho first.

  • Actually they could have teamed up, just like how Universal and Rankin-Bass team up with Toho to do King Kong vs Godzilla, and King Kong Escape. Hey Universal even allow Frankenstein to be in Toho's film like Frankenstein conquered the world.

  • By the way there's going to be a movie where Frankenstein fights Godzilla, but this plan got scrapped, so they made Frankenstein vs Baragon (Frankenstein Conquers the World).

  • And yes, actually King Productions (the company making this movie) can team up with Toho to make "Gorgo vs. Godzilla". I just hope they make a true Gorgo vs. Godzilla, and that will become Godzilla's upcoming film that will come out in 2014.

  • I was aware of Frankenstein was going to be originally to fight Godzilla. He was replaced by King Kong, it would have been cool to see Frankenstein fighting Godzilla.

  • Actually Toho scrapped the idea King Kong fights Frankenstein. Thankfully, King Kong had his second film, (after 2 scrapped ideas) King Kong Escapes in 1967.

  • I thought it was originally Frankenstein was going to fight Godzilla for Toho. About the Frankenstein vs King Kong, Willis O'Brien wanted to do that way before Toho had Godzilla fighting King Kong and Baragon fight Frankenstein. For Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, King Kong was going to fight Ebirah but replaced by Godzilla after Toho lost rights to King Kong.

  • That's right. Now let's end this conversation.. I just hope Gorgo vs Godzilla comes out in 2014 as the next Godzilla movie!

  • It would have been one of the stupidest things to ever occur in a movie.

  • maybe to you, but not to me.

  • During the 80's and 90's this movie wa considered "public domain" and was sold by many different VHS cheepy companys. Now it seems not to be. How Is that possible?

  • wanna-be godzilla

  • so is gamera

  • This is one of my all time favs

  • hes the one that brought godzilla into japans lives!

  • Thats so true.

  • Doesn't Bill Travers realize that Gorgo was 'born free?'

  • I saw this movie once when I was 5

  • Britain's answer to Godzilla. Nice try...

  • looks like titanosaurus

  • it does only titanosaurus has dino boobs

    very funny looking!

  • Yup. If Godzilla is metaphoric picture of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then Gorgo's attack reminds me Luftwaffe's airstrikes during WWII, especially the part, when Londoners are trying to shelter themselves underground.

  • Or maybe Gorgo is the British version of Godzilla.
