I spent a lot of time at that station..they were just beginning to electrify it then..it has changes immensely..thanks for the footage I enjoyed it..

I live in Colchester and i use the station alot and the platform that you were on are 4/5

why was there a 170 there, i thought they were ment to only run on the cross country services to peterborough and other things

Liverpool Street - Peterborough/Lowestoft via Ipswich, everything going to those destinations HAVE to go through Colchester otherwise wont get to the destination!

oh, i see but why they need a diesil to run that i dont know or id the bury st edmunds line not electrified?

Diesel is required to run the 170s and yes the line from Haughley Junction - Peterborough via Bury St Edmunds is non electriied
