@random2925 Boeing lost market share to EADS for one reason - price. Illegal funding given to EADS allowed them to offer cheap planes to the airlines. If they tried to compete on a level playing field with funds from conventional sources they would be a much smaller company. This comes from the WTO, not from the companies involved.

Hoping no more delays, Boeing promise to fly their 787 on 7th August 2007 but fail. So far no 787 will fly for airlines until somewhere in 2011. I hope Airbus already learn lesson from both A380 and B787.

@Cathaydude oh really? Show me this full double deck 747. Boeing has said they have no interest in a plane like that because their research shows the market wants smaller, more efficient planes. The A350 showed up after the 787, so you could more accurately say the A350 is a 787 knock off. Most crashes of Boeing aircraft are caused by human air, unlike Airbus, which leaves final control in the hands of a computer, which could be the reason Air France 447 went down.

@Cathaydude That show isn't very accurate as most of the crashes on there occured before Airbus was even selling planes, and several of them are human error. Also, Cathay has ordered 10 new 747-8Fs and no A380s.

@05u16hep I was on an A319 last month after connecting from a Boeing 757 which was built in 1990, and the Airbus was built in 1999. I did not notice a sound difference. The only difference was a few window shades were broken on the A319. The 787 does not and does not want to compete with the A330. It's in the class the the A350 is showing up to late. The 787 is the first to have a full composite body and the interior design is very nice, especially the electronically tinted very large windows.

Airbus is very successful in making innovative, efficient, and comfortable aircraft. Meanwhile Boeing: its "try hard" competitor is trying to coupe up with it! Imagine the A320 Family is being matched up by 737 and 757. The A330/A340 Family being matched up by 767, 777, and 787. The A380 being matched up by 747-400 and 747-8 while the A350 being matched up by 777 and 787. It seems pretty shocking for 1 Airbus model being matched up by several models by Boeing. Boeing seems desperate with these^^
A350 has been designed to compete in the market of 767 787 & 777, fill the gap left b/t those aircrafts. Good replacement for both a330 & a340. It is great for long range flights w/ a near perfect seating capacity. This takes much hard work off Airbus IMO b/c they won't have to create different models for different markets and spend resources in R&D as they have a single aircraft design for all sizes and markets. THAT'S SMART THINKING. A350 is not a copy, it's incorporating many tech from a380.

Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa are the only operators of A380s powered by Trent 900 engine built by the British firm at its RR Auto factory in Derby!

747-8 is a cheap and boring replacement for the classic 747-400 series in my mind's eye. Boeing did not want to invest in an all new 747 replacement as it was seen too risky a business venture. I applaud Airbus once again for taking the risk and pushing the envelope in terms of innovation and design. I think Airbus have pushed aviation 20 years into the future whereas Boeing is still tinkering with a 1960's old rusted antique 747 design.

@sepherioth5 American made aircrafts isnt safe. Only thing Americans care is money, not safety. 70% of all aircraft accidents are caused of American made planes. European planes are more safe, but they are more expensive and less popular in aircraft companies. Finn air buys these expensive planes and it can be seen on aircraft accident countings. Finn Air have never been on accident which have killed people.
@fachy1981 Understand that aircraft built by American companies have a larger share of the market. There are more operators with American planes, because companies like Boeing have built a name for themselves over the years. Many aircraft being used are later in their operation lives, and therefore are more susceptible to damages (wear and tear, etc). Airbus was founded in 1970. Boeing was already creating airliners in 1970.

@GTAstuntman101 LOL why are u comparing A330 against 777. 777 was made against A340 and 777 fails in front of it! A340 has 4 engines and 777 has only 2. If both engines on the 777 go down than the entire plane is coming down LOL. A340 is quieter and smoother than the 777 and the biggest advantage has 4 engines. Also those GE engines my God on the 777 are so noisy. if you are sitting next to it, than you are going deaf!
@fachy1981 4 engines isn't necessarily an advantage. 4 engines means more noise than 2. It's also a far less efficient aircraft. The 777 engines are actually quite quiet, have you been on one? The 777 and any other aircraft that crosses water with two engines (including the A330 and A300) must be ETOPS certified so that it can land somewhere safely. It can fly a long ways on only one of those powerful engines. The last aircraft I know of to loose both was an A320 (but not Airbus's fault).

U should check it out the seating is the same. Boeing 787 has the advantage of being 1ST on the market until 2017 and so the A350 will follow in its wake never able to catch up. If Airfags A350 is built they will have problems with engines since AF has only 1 engine. Recently AF was snubbed by GE + told fuel efficient GEnexgen engine R unavailable 2 AF since Boeing is co-developer + placed largest order N history. @random2925 Boeing lost market share to EADS for one reason - price. Illegal funding given to EADS allowed them to offer cheap planes to the airlines. If they tried to compete on a level playing field with funds from conventional sources they would be a much smaller company. This comes from the WTO, not from the companies involved.

@Cathaydude oh really? Show me this full double deck 747. Boeing has said they have no interest in a plane like that because their research shows the market wants smaller, more efficient planes. The A350 showed up after the 787, so you could more accurately say the A350 is a 787 knock off. Most crashes of Boeing aircraft are caused by human air, unlike Airbus, which leaves final control in the hands of a computer, which could be the reason Air France 447 went down.

@Cathaydude That show isn't very accurate as most of the crashes on there occured before Airbus was even selling planes, and several of them are human error. Also, Cathay has ordered 10 new 747-8Fs and no A380s.

I was at stanstead airport the other day and there were by far more Airbus aircraft than boeings!
Boings are noisy, uncomfortable and inefficient compared to airbus. The A-320 is pretty much silent inside! not like 767's which leave you with an ear-ache.
Airbus aircraft outweigh boeings any day. The 787 is really in competition with the A-330, this aircraft is in a leage of its own!

@05u16hep I was on an A319 last month after connecting from a Boeing 757 which was built in 1990, and the Airbus was built in 1999. I did not notice a sound difference. The only difference was a few window shades were broken on the A319. The 787 does not and does not want to compete with the A330. It's in the class the the A350 is showing up to late. The 787 is the first to have a full composite body and the interior design is very nice, especially the electronically tinted very large windows.

Airbus is very successful in making innovative, efficient, and comfortable aircraft. Meanwhile Boeing: its "try hard" competitor is trying to coupe up with it! Imagine the A320 Family is being matched up by 737 and 757. The A330/A340 Family being matched up by 767, 777, and 787. The A380 being matched up by 747-400 and 747-8 while the A350 being matched up by 777 and 787. It seems pretty shocking for 1 Airbus model being matched up by several models by Boeing. Boeing seems desperate with these^^

A350 has been designed to compete in the market of 767 787 & 777, fill the gap left b/t those aircrafts. Good replacement for both a330 & a340. It is great for long range flights w/ a near perfect seating capacity. This takes much hard work off Airbus IMO b/c they won't have to create different models for different markets and spend resources in R&D as they have a single aircraft design for all sizes and markets. THAT'S SMART THINKING. A350 is not a copy, it's incorporating many tech from a380.

you are wrong. A380 is not even close to 747. 747 is very old and is not even a double decker. A380 is bigger and more efficent then your 747.

the a350-1000 outclasses the 777-300er in every aspect. people claim airbus have a lack of inovation but what have boeing done? made a bigger 747, make new models of exsisting airliners, the 787 is their latest all new design in over 10 yrs. where as airbus just made the worlds biggest airliner, there own super efficient airliner the a350. Boeing is dieing. Hopefully the aviation will go metric then XD

Airfags A380 is White Elephant + A350 a cheap copy of B787. Airfags stole wing but guess what? U don't have engines for it +Airfags visited General Electric + GE said Boeing was a codeveloper 4 GEnexgen engines + have ordered every GEnexgen engins 4 nex five years + that means no 20% savings for A350. Tsk, tsk Airfags suck!

@random2925 the Airfags A380 is White Elepahnt with exploding RR Trent Engines + have many problems + Airfags big mistake of only having 1 engine supplier. Quantas found 3 Trent Engines leaking + 2ND Trent engine almost died on Singapore Airlines. What Airfags has is another "Dehavilland Comet'' that had 8 crashes. A380 is losing money + year behind + Aibus is in its 3RD Quarter in the RED + Airfags Blow-hards just lost USAF 40 Billion Dollar to Boeing that could save Airfags from bankruptcy.

@random2925 Should the A380 flop, it would merely be following in a long tradition. Without Airbus, Boeing would have a complete monopoly over large commercial aircraft. Whatever happens, it is inconceivable that the French would let Airbus fail. As President Chirac said of the A380 at its roll-out in Toulouse: "This veritable ocean liner of the sky will go down in history like the Concorde." Perhaps not the best of analogies, but you know what he was trying to say.

@random2925 Thats not true + you know the Airbus A380 is 6 Billion Euros in debt and no airline even Airbus who is heavilly and illegally subsidized cannot afford to throw money down the A380 Rathole. Airbus is 3 years behind delivery + only 51 delivered. Airbus A350 is delayed has no enigne and is delayed till 2017. The A320neos will not help cuz delivery is not until 2019 + U only get paid upon delivery. What happens when A320neo is delayed? Airbus has to many losses 2B profitable.

Airbus going to be bankrupt? I am wondering after reading an article of the aerospace company, AIRBUS S.A. It is delaying delivery of its new JUMBO due to HARNESS WIRING problems. Gosh...the harness making business is "low tech" part of industry. and a few companies including Singapore Airlines, a large air leasing company is seeking compensation. Worse BAE, a British Aerospace company is selling its 20% stake in the EU premier company. Amazing! news is hardly making headlines!

HOW DANGEROUS ARE RR EXPLODING TRENTS ENGINES
To months ago Lufthansa A380 had to shut down 1 of its four Trent 900 engines B4 landing at Frankfurt due to concerns about an explosion. Another Rolls-Royce powered A380 owned by Singapore Airlines turned back after leaving Paris in September last year because of a possible explosion. Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa are the only operators of A380s powered by Trent 900 engine built by the British firm at its RR Auto factory in Derby!

@random2925 There were no A380 sales but the Boeing 747-8I had big sales at Paris Air Show + Hong Kong Airlines cancelled 10 A380s. Boeing sold 17 747-8I'S and China Airlines ordered 5 747-8I'S + this totals 117 Boeing 747-8I'S sale in 5 months VS 200 Airbus A380's that took 5 years. Every B747-8I sale is nail in the Airbus Coffin which must sell 500 A380's to break even. Do the math Boeing strategy is going to force Airbus to cancel A380 cuz it cannot breal even + its doomed to be canceled!!!

747-8 is a cheap and boring replacement for the classic 747-400 series in my mind's eye. Boeing did not want to invest in an all new 747 replacement as it was seen too risky a business venture. I applaud Airbus once again for taking the risk and pushing the envelope in terms of innovation and design. I think Airbus have pushed aviation 20 years into the future whereas Boeing is still tinkering with a 1960's old rusted antique 747 design.

this is just a copy of the Boeing 787. Way to be claim to be innovative, but steal the ideas directly from Boeing. All of the GAYbus line's aircraft are lousy knockoffs off Boeing counterparts.

@sepherioth5 American made aircrafts isnt safe. Only thing Americans care is money, not safety. 70% of all aircraft accidents are caused of American made planes. European planes are more safe, but they are more expensive and less popular in aircraft companies. Finn air buys these expensive planes and it can be seen on aircraft accident countings. Finn Air have never been on accident which have killed people.

@fachy1981 Understand that aircraft built by American companies have a larger share of the market. There are more operators with American planes, because companies like Boeing have built a name for themselves over the years. Many aircraft being used are later in their operation lives, and therefore are more susceptible to damages (wear and tear, etc). Airbus was founded in 1970. Boeing was already creating airliners in 1970.

Non-American aircraft, let's say Airbus, would be the ones getting into accidents. Oh, and Finnair has Boeing aircraft also, but you're right about their safety record.

@GTAstuntman101 LOL why are u comparing A330 against 777. 777 was made against A340 and 777 fails in front of it! A340 has 4 engines and 777 has only 2. If both engines on the 777 go down than the entire plane is coming down LOL. A340 is quieter and smoother than the 777 and the biggest advantage has 4 engines. Also those GE engines my God on the 777 are so noisy. if you are sitting next to it, than you are going deaf!

@fachy1981 4 engines isn't necessarily an advantage. 4 engines means more noise than 2. It's also a far less efficient aircraft. The 777 engines are actually quite quiet, have you been on one? The 777 and any other aircraft that crosses water with two engines (including the A330 and A300) must be ETOPS certified so that it can land somewhere safely. It can fly a long ways on only one of those powerful engines. The last aircraft I know of to loose both was an A320 (but not Airbus's fault).
