VK3VCM Operating Portable HF Amateur Radio from Portarlington, Australia 3/1/11

I'm curious as to what you use to power your radio. Running 100 watts must use a few amps. I'm guessing a small 12V battery with maybe even a solar panel.

Enjoying watching your videos and thinking about getting back into ham radio in portable mode as they don't allow antennas in my neighborhood.

Hey Guys- I was wondering if one could help me? I was watching a show "Dirty Deeds" and they showed a Car Radio that has a Big Set of Bands on it. NOT your usual Am/FM but id say 7 or 10 Rows if Bands.. Show mentions Australia- What kind of car radio is this? Common,old? The car was form the 1950's but show made in 2002- THANKS! Any Ideas?

@UZI9MMAUTO I've not seen the movie but what I think it may have been is in fact a normal AM radio. Here in Australia we have 6 States & 2 "Territories". Early AM radios here had all stations for each state listed on the radio dial on a separate line. So there would be up to 8 rows of all stations listed by name. AM radio station callsigns in Australia have 1 number & two letters. The number denotes the state EG 3AW (3 = Victoria) 4BH (4 = Queensland), 6PR (6 = Western Australia). Craig VK3CRG

cool set up ! I always liked listening to the WA police on my Uniden scanner, that was until they went digital and encrypted their systems

@spellgrounds Yeah they did the same here in Melbourne... I understand why the police did that of course...but it does spoil it for us non-criminal types! :-)
