Je l'écoute depuis plus de 40 ans, elle a été le point d'orgue de la messe de mon mariage ( et oui, j'ai osé...mais je devais être le seul à identifier l'auteur (...!!) et à comprendre le texte). Cette mélodie et ses paroles que je peux réciter à n'importe quelle heure du jour ou de la nuit accompagne ma vie dans les moments pénibles mais aussi dans les grands moments ....
I think "your eyes are soft with sorrow" may also be a biblical reference (like LC usually does in his songs and poems). It was Leah wife of Jacob who was described as having "soft eyes" (Genesis 29:17). All along the biblical story it is described how Leah was full with sorrow that Jacob does not love her but her sister Rachel. Maybe it is related to this song?

Having seen Leonard Cohen 4 times (Birmingham Town Hall 1968,Excellent, Amsterdam 1968, not bad, crap acoustics, Isle of Wight 1970, can't really remember, and Glastonbury 2008, magical) I still don't understand why on a video, with sound, you feel the need to print the words. There's a Hell of a lot of Leonard Cohen films on here, Get typing Dude.
